Erm,do you know how the public sector is funded

Taxes? But donations are also made.

There are no donations. All public institutions are funded purely by tax.

daliesque · 31/12/2023 19:43

Love how the Labour woksecolds like to tell women off for caring about their basic rights and not caving in to the demands of unpleasant men and organisations breaking the law. Fuck that.

Bless you. The Tories are getting desperate aren't they.

Fuck them.

TempestTost · 31/12/2023 19:44

AmeliaEarhart · 31/12/2023 18:34

@TempestTost what do people in Canada do then, if there are no state-funded dentists but also no private provision?

Dentist have never been part of our national health provision. State insurance does provide regular care for kids through private dentists.(Though this is about to change, and there is a lot of worry that dental care will start to see the same problems as regular GP care.)

As far as things like GPs, many people don't have one. There are attempts to close the gap with walk-in clinics, virtual appointments, and allowing pharmacists to prescribe more, but of course it doesn't really do the job. ERs are overwhelmed by people there for problems they should be going to a GP for.

The problems are similar enough actually that I think it's worth looking at, as there are very likely structural issues at play.

bombastix · 31/12/2023 19:46

Well overall women are generally more likely to vote Labour anyway and the research looks like that trend will be maintained at the next election. I am not a fan of genderwoo but facts; the polling indicates Labour is gaining the female voter not losing it. If trans issues are a vote winner then it remains to be seen

DewHopper · 31/12/2023 19:46

daliesque I am sorry that your rights mean so very little to you. However there are a lot of fierce women who are fighting this ideology hard and have been doing so for over a decade (in my case and many others).

You mean basic rights like having access to council services? Health services? Equal rights to paid leave even if they are working part time (which the Tories have just abolished)? Or are those not the 'right' kind of rights and we're expected to sit back and watch the services women disproportionately need and use gutted further and be told 'but hey, at least we aren't woke', Fuck that.

Meowandthen · 31/12/2023 19:51

Alcyoneus · 31/12/2023 10:16

It is quite stark how the left displays the most noticeable forms of corruption, stealing from the poor, racism, sexism and the list goes on. it’s not even dissonance anymore, it’s satire.

The far left are the most corrupt, brazen thieves, stealing directly from the poor. Just google BLM and charity scandal. Frankly, you’d have to be stupid to donate to BLM knowing what goes on.

Out and out racism towards non-white people who dare to not lean to the left.

Disgusting misogyny and siding with misogynists and defending them. Dudes dressed up as women attacking gender critical women at rallies or threatening to attack them, inciting violence towards women. And that’s ok because the left does it?

Follow the science is another gem. Until the science tells you that biological sex is immutable.

The climate clowns bring some comedy to the dark goings on that that racists and misogynists indulge in. Tarquin turns up to a climate March, causes criminal damage, happens to be unlucky enough because the local mickey muse police force actually lock him up for a day that time. And he misses his flight to the Caribbean the next day when his family are off on their holidays.

COP28 in an oil state where all the world leaders flew in on private jet. Thousands of middle class attendees flew in for an holiday in the name of activism And the organizers were doing oil deals on the side and actually got caught doing so. You couldn’t make this shit up.

The list goes on and on and on and on.

Is this sarcasm? Some kind of joke?

Have you seen what has been going on in the UK for the past 14 years?

If Labour do get elected (and I fear that they might) would you be happy that the fucking PM of the country thinks that it should not be said that only women have a cervix and that only 99% of women do not have a penis? Do you think that a man so slippery and able to lie so easily will be doing the best thing for women? Really?

And 'women's rights' becomes a redundant phrase when it includes men doesn't it? That is where we will be heading.

My rights mean a lot to me. I’m a member of the generation of women who fought for most of them. My rights are not threatened by the 0.05% of the population who choose to live their lives as a member of the sex opposite to their natal sex. On the other hand, I’ve watched workers’ rights, the right to protest and the right to free speech eroded in front of my eyes in the last 13 years. Not to mention the right to decent healthcare and education.

DewHopper · 31/12/2023 19:56

And sad though I am to admit this, I used t be a LP member. I left when Corbyn destroyed the party and think that it has worsened since then as Starmer is just not hard enough on the hard left that infiltrated the party under Corbyn.

If I had to vote tomorrow I would probably spoil my ballot again with one of KJK's stickers but if Kemi Badenoch was my MP I would vote Tory quite happily. Likewise I would vote Labour if Rosie Duffield was my MP

If you are a woman then I am afraid that your rights are definitely under threat - I suspect that we are around the same age btw.

BIossomtoes · 31/12/2023 20:00

We’ll have to agree to disagree then.

Barbadossunset · 31/12/2023 20:08

There are no donations. All public institutions are funded purely by tax.

That’s interesting. Private schools raise - in some cases very substantial - amounts of money through donations. Would state schools be allowed to accept donations?

SingleMum11 · 31/12/2023 20:16

I agree with your general point. I think left politics as lost its way.

I am for equality, justice, helping those in genuine and in the most need. I don’t like violence or bullying or oppression.

I feel like several left and right wing thinking does not even come close to representing the above. But even more worryingly, left leaning liberal friends still think they are the champions of the above, as they move to end their child to the best free outstanding grammar school, with their paid off mortgage because their wealthy parents gave them £100000 deposit, from their Russell group university eating their vegan organic dinner with diverse friends (except none are poor) talking about Palestine as if they have half a clue and using pronouns correctly.

Give me strength!

The world is full of serious terrible things and that kid of smug left middle class nonsense isn’t even trying to make any of the real crap better.

pointythings · 31/12/2023 20:29

@DewHopper I am the parent of two disabled young adults. So yes, I will always choose to prioritise the restoration of public services over the anti-woke rage directed at the tiny % of the population who identify as trans - the majority of whom just want to live their lives in peace like the rest of us.

DewHopper · 31/12/2023 20:31

I am not really convinced that women saying no to male appropriation is 'anti-woke rage' but you do you.

CasperGutman · 31/12/2023 20:31

YANBU. It's the Judean People's Front all over again.

TheCheerfulNihilist · 31/12/2023 20:32

No one actually believes transwomen are women.

It is absurd bullshit. No one is actually that stupid, even the uneducated morons coming out of the current useless universities know what a woman is when they need one.

It is the usual pandering to men. As always. The left/the right all the same thing. All about men.

This current madness will pass, to be replaced by some new stupidity no doubt. Sometimes I think it was a mistake to remove all of the predators. Maybe climate change will be a good thing for humanity as a whole. We could use some clearing out of the useless/hapless idiots who couldn't find their arses with both hands.

It's prefectly possible to criticise the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza and also oppose antisemitism. It's perfectly possible to utterly condemn what was done on 7/10 and also utterly condemn the wholesale killing of civilians in Gaza.

But that’s not what the left is doing.

It is anti-Semitic to make Jewish people collectively responsible for the actions of the Israeli government. Which is exactly what the left leaning among us are doing. Jewish celebrities couldn’t celebrate Hanukkah on social media without someone demanding they give their opinion on Israel or posting ‘Free Palestine’. How is that OK?

She’s vile. If it was any other religion she was spouting racist tropes over she’d be on handcuffs. Her latest one about ‘The analogy of Israelis and sandwiches’ is very interesting.

Anti-semites don’t like context though - especially the context of a whole class of abused people having to be exiled yet again because after experiencing genocide and having to wheel their dead family members around in wheelbarrows to be burned in fires, they wanted somewhere safe to live. They do like to rewrite history.

Well, I'm left leaning and I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing. So this is yet another pathetic sweeping generalisation.

You’re right - I shouldn’t have implied it’s all left leaning people. It’s not, and I apologise. But I ONLY see this opinion expressed by left leaning people. That’s what I meant
