AIBU to ask for all of your top tips and ideas for a real overhaul of your health and fitness.
I've got 150 days until an event and I want to see a difference and be proud that I actually did it.

What would you do?

A personal trainer- or a fitness plan made by a trainer.

one of the meal/ingredients box subscriptions.

GoingRoundInOvals · 30/12/2023 20:23

Stop buying biscuits or chocolate. If it's not in the house I can't eat it.

drink lots and lots and LOTS of water

move more

MojoMoon · 30/12/2023 20:25

Walk minimum of 15k steps per day.
Don't drink any alcohol.
Go to bed at 9pm every night.

ThaQuilomum · 30/12/2023 20:25

Weight training 💪

PrueRamsay · 30/12/2023 20:26

Zero alcohol
Exercise every day, even if it’s just 30 minutes walking or yoga
Minimum eight hours sleep.

Nomagicflute · 30/12/2023 20:31

I had health issues so I paid £500 for 5 appointments with a nutritionalist. I started doing 20 mins yoga/stretches a day. I almost completely cut out sugar. I ate more protein and veg less carbs. I reduced caffeine to one tea a day. I went to bed 30 mins earlier. I started journeying.

Changed my life.

Can I ask what you felt changed? And which thing you would prioritise if you couldn’t do it all?

coxesorangepippin · 30/12/2023 20:39

Low carb

No alcohol

Loads of water

Fake tan

Outside exercise every day, rain or shine

Only wear colours that suit you

SecondHandFurniture · 30/12/2023 20:39

Set a target for drinking water.
30 minutes HIIT a day - loads on YouTube.
Absolutely no crisps.

EspressoMacchiato · 30/12/2023 20:41

Low carb
More protein
Lift weights
Walk for 30 minutes daily
Get morning and evening light in your eyes
No screens and low light 2 hours before sleep

Alwaystired2023 · 30/12/2023 20:41

@coxesorangepippin yes fake tan 🤣 the easiest thing that makes such a difference that I still don't manage to do!

AdoraBell · 30/12/2023 20:42

Cut out refined sugar. I built a habit of having coffee every day and had cake or pastries. I still have coffee each day but only have cake/pastry 1 or 2 each week.

SnowflakeSparkles · 30/12/2023 20:43

Fitness and nutrition will make the best difference, but you will also want to think about what you will wear, makeup, skincare, nails, hair cut colour and treatment, properly fitting underwear and footwear.

Those will make huge difference on the day itself, but you need to start now. You don't want to throw too many changes on yourself all in one go and be uncomfortable on the day.

TwinklingLightsEverywhere · 30/12/2023 20:43

You can look fabulous in 150 days but it won't be life changing if you haven't changed your habits, you'll end up back where you are now.

Improve your diet, properly not by fad eating or semi starving yourself. Eat real food that suits your unique body and biome, don't eat heavily processed crap. Look at ZOE app.
Up your game with exercise, think fitter and stronger rather than just trying to burn calories
Stop drinking /smoking /drug use
Sleep well

FiddleLeaf · 30/12/2023 20:46

I’m planning similar!

Hydration
Fake tan - you’ll look healthier and skinnier
LVL lash lift
Eyebrow tidy
Great skin care routine
Exercise but wear SPF & sunnies if going outside
Weight - I would feel better a stone lighter so that’s my primary focus. I’m eating lots of protein and good fats, lowish carb. Still a slice of sour dough a day with avocado 😊 A few days in and feels so much better already.

FiddleLeaf · 30/12/2023 20:47

Oh and sleep! Get in at least 8 hours but ideally more then wake naturally if you can.

TinySaltLick · 30/12/2023 20:47

150 days is a long time and you can transform yourself with dedication and consistency. Establish some sustainable lifestyle changes - the previous posters saying things like x exercise every day - are very difficult if you have young children or are starting from a position of lownfitness for example. Set long and short term goals - but the big things to plan are exercise, healthy eating, and good sleep.

If you can afford a personal trainer - that is the gold standard. If not - create an exercise plan and stick to it. Reduce sugar, alcohol - and find a way to stay motivated. It will be hard at first - but within 6 weeks it will become habit.

You can do it!

Becles · 30/12/2023 20:48

I got something from some forum that I'm hoping to start on Tuesday called the 75. Not sure how scientific it is, but when I've done most of the things on the list I've felt great, so combining should help reset me. In theory.

So for 75 days in a row (no exceptions) I will:
•drink 3 litres of water/fluids
•stick to a diet (no alcohol, but you can choose whatever diet you want)
•read 10 pages of a non fiction book
•take a photo
•2 workouts a day - 45 minutes each and one MUST be outside (can be walking or yoga, doesn’t have to be intense exercise). I'm planning 45 minutes of walking before/to work and a combination of YouTube dancing and stretching exercises.

Mum2jenny · 30/12/2023 20:49

I’m me, not too interested in being someone else. But it does depend on how much you really want this change.
is it for you, or your partner?
My advice, ignore it as you want, is to be true to yourself.
Please do what you need to do to make life easier for yourself. ( alternatively ditch the bugger!!!!!)

headcheffer · 30/12/2023 20:53

Hit my higher protein goal and stay within my calories (can still have carbs!!)
Weights 2 x week
10k steps every day
Little glow up near the end of Botox, lash lift, brow wax and tint, nails etc

goingback · 30/12/2023 20:54

Read more, work on your posture , rest more, for diet don't buy sugar and fat snacks. Eat real food ,you will need to eat more .Drink water, herbal teas .Get outside in natural daylight every day. Write down your thoughts and feelings.

Newchapterbeckons · 30/12/2023 20:56

I would add. A makeover with Charlotte tilbury make up specialist literally took years off me, came away able to recreate the look.

Expensive new dress, silk or similar and gorgeous new shoes. Very good bag

Manicured but natural nails

A bloody good blow dry that gives you lustrous locks

luminous skin

Confidence and poise speaks louder than anything you wear/do.

Newchapterbeckons · 30/12/2023 20:57

DONT have Botox!!!
That will ruin all of your efforts. It looks too fake and try hard.

Definitelylivedin · 30/12/2023 20:59

The number one thing you can do is improve your sleep. You can eat the best diet and do loads of exercise, but if you aren't getting enough sleep you will never look or feel your best.

Oh, and a well fitting bra.
