Fed up with the Instagram showing perfect homes, when the real world is much messier..: so show me your normal homes… here’s my messy (and a bit dated) kitchen

I'm not taking a picture of my kitchen. Its by far the WORST room in the house as everyone enters through it so people dump stuff in it.

My house usually looks like an explosion in a toy and clothing factory. I think my kids are training to be burglars by the looks of the mess they make.

My living room this morning, complete with DH's feet. The air filter is in here because DH sneezed for 3 days straight when we put up the Christmas tree. The flag is left over from the coronation 😳

some really lovely homely kitchens on this thread, love seeing comfortable lived in rooms that are cosy & welcoming.
this is mine probably a bit twee for many, it makes me happy I am quite naturally tidy & my children are grown up, so a lot easier keep on top of cleaning/tidying.

Maybe I am a bit green eyed, my kitchen isn't a massively dated one but it is small. I wasn't saying everyone was gloating as that clearly wasn't the case, but the OP was putting up an old kitchen and asking for similar pictures, so I think it's strange for some to put up larger rennovated kitchens, but I suppose that's the normal in their circle of friends (which I did mention in my pp).

Just didn't think it was helping the OP, that's all. She asked for pictures to get away from that sort of thing. If I am being honest I havent looked at Instagram for some time and was never much of a user, so maybe the bar has gone up a lot since I last looked when some of the pictures on here were like the ones I saw on there.

I think there is a good selection of different kitchens, just didn't think the OP was looking for some of the pictures posted on here, that's all, but reading back the OP doesn't mind, so I'll leave it there. 😂

But she didn’t ask for similar photos, she asked people to post their normal houses.

any look on Rightmove would show what’s been posted is very much just normal, average kitchens within a range. It’s very clear anyone with anything extraordinary isn’t posting due to thr attacks.

i get it if people are jealous due to their own living conditions, but just hide the thread.

I like your kitchen! The colours go together really well, and it makes me think of being on holiday. 😊 I like old fashioned kitchens and bathrooms, I like colour. I'm friends with people who have done up their houses, and there's loads of grey everywhere, and in my flat that's newly renovated, (rented, and I've just moved in. Luckily I'm not a minimalist, and my stuff is a riot of colour.)

I love my kitchen 🙂 This is how most of my visitors will see it - this is actually its tidier version. Post-covid (that’s my excuse)Somehow (hopefully magically) this room will be ready to host Christmas dinner for four. I’ve included a picture of my most favourite feature ❤️
