Fed up with the Instagram showing perfect homes, when the real world is much messier..: so show me your normal homes… here’s my messy (and a bit dated) kitchen

My reality of trying to do an insta worth Christmas tree 😑 the fact she took the time to remove the wrapper was the cherry on top

and to add, I found out by standing on the wrapper that was smooshed into the rug

@Noseyneeps Is it tiles, or a vinyl paper? When my bestie first moved into his place there was a vinyl paper with fruits on in the kitchen. I liked it.

Tiles! And the bloody pattern is moulded on. Not just bloody painted on

Some of these kitchens are beautiful! If anyone would like to feel better, here is my disaster of a kitchen 🤣. It’s tiny, there’s not enough units, the fridge doesn’t fit in here, everything is super old, my blind fell down, I had to scrape lots of loose paint off the walls and haven’t got round to stage two of sorting it yet - the list is endless for such a tiny room 😂. On the positive side it’s got a massive window and really high ceilings. Plan for 2024 is new flooring, DC fix worktops, paint units, new blind, shelves up in the empty wall space, storage baskets for on top of units, new appliances etc! It still won’t be insta worthy though because it’ll have me trying to keep it clean and tidy 🥲!

Looks like a dead normal kitchen to me. Nothing terrible about it x

Thank fuck... a normal kitchen at last.

(I have washing machine envy. We don't have one. But mostly I want a floofball cat like that.)

Mine are randomly everywhere, so I'd say a coal bunker was quite tidy.

looks so beautiful and tidy. Print those pics off and frame them to remember what a tidy house looks like 😝

I do think though, even if grey kitchens aren't to your taste, it is a bit unkind to say that, given that some posters have been brave enough to post pictures of their grey kitchens. Not just you - there have been a few similar comments .

My kitchen is very grey, which I know some people hate but I quite like. We had a load of people round for dinner tonight and will need a second load through dishwasher in the morning. It’s definitely not insta like in the slightest. I am however super thrilled with the layout which really maximises use of our space. It’s fantastic to cook in as you are always close to everything but there is room for 2 people and plenty of counter space for preparing things. Q
