To think Taylor Swift will one day run for President and might even win?

I mean her success in music is staggering and she is obviously somebody who is extremely narcissistic driven.

I am not saying she would do this anytime soon but perhaps in say 20 - 30 years time.

She has an enormous fan base and the media seem to love her. Heck, she could almost fund her own presidential campaign.

Blimey, you ok there? Making everyone like her, what a bitch.eh?

On a more rationale note, i watched her eras tour last night and came away thinking she is an incredibly talented woman.

Implying there's something wrong with me is pretty low. The question was asked and I answered based on the facts, which are just as easy to find as concert footage.

KeeeeeepDancing · 24/12/2023 22:49

I hope so

restingrichface · 24/12/2023 22:52

I don't think so. Much like Dolly Parton she relies on cross-party support so running on any platform would be alienating the fan base. Not worth it.

But theoretically on numbers alone she could win.

hashebeenyet · 24/12/2023 23:15

@flowerchild2000 when did she lie to make herself look better?

As far as I can see, she's an extremely hard working individual, who gives money to charities, and does appear to be a genuinely nice person. I don't think she can be blamed for producing music that people like and therefore buy her albums 🤷‍♀️

You must have really poor reading skills, I outlined it specifically. I literally didn't say a thing about selling or working. What does that have to do with anything? This is confirmation bias 100%

Fivepigeons · 25/12/2023 02:39

I mean it's not ideal but I'd actually prefer her to Trump.. or even Biden sadly. At least she's not nearly dead and seems vaguely reasonable

cerisepanther73 · 25/12/2023 02:51

@Edinburghguy
Never say Never

Rember weirdly that the Simpsons longest running cartoon series was the visionary one who predicted that Trump would one day became president in one of its episode's.!

Taylor Swift is ballsy and sassy outspoken rich enough and has enough of a fan base Watch this space then?

cerisepanther73 · 25/12/2023 02:59

@Hermittrismegistus

I forget to mention she comes across as asute as Maddonna,

Rember Ronald Regan former president and former president Junior ?
it allways baffled me how these two got the cofindence of the America votes like that ect ?

If they can do it,
Taylor Swift can too if she wants to and hungry ambition wise she is intelligent enough and is not afraid to speak out about things such as injustices to take that risk

Go girl i say

LaurieStrode · 25/12/2023 03:02

I just heard a TS song the other day, for the first time ever, and was surprised at how juvenile and chavvy she sounded. Not impressed.

She does seem to be a brilliant businesswoman, though.

WandaWonder · 25/12/2023 03:40

Wasn't Kanye West running? How did that go?

How is being a manufactured music personality actually qualified for running for president? But then again Trump managed it so who knows

Inyourwildestdreams · 25/12/2023 03:48

She is absolutely at the peak of her career right now and her fans are WILD. The hours they spend decoding every little clue and “Easter egg” to work out what’s coming next is ridiculous dedication.
I have no doubt that she would get a ridiculous amount of support!!

But realistically, it would be a horrendous career move for her and she’s an incredibly savvy business woman so it’s highly unlikely 😂

Doingtheboxerbeat · 25/12/2023 06:05

Why would anyone wish that on her? No, while she is incredibly likeable and seems intelligent, she's better off just influencing people to vote the right way.

ClottedCreamScone · 25/12/2023 06:20

She has never shown any indication of having political ambitions and is clearly intensely dedicated to her music career. It would be a very straightforward way to completely dismantle her legacy. I think it’s profoundly unlikely.

Shes not remotely narcissistic but you clearly don’t like her and just fancied a dig!

I mean this genuinely - how can you have heard a Taylor Swift song for the first time just the other day? Her big hits are everywhere, and have been for about 15 years.
Out of interest, which song was it, do you know?

I’m surprised too, it’s really very difficult to not have heard any of her songs ever, she’s been a huge star for a long time, and often in the news, due to things like temp removing her music from Spotify due to the low pay given to artists, now owning all the rights to her own music, and rereleasing her own versions, having her own production company etc, and often her music is played in the background to that.

im not what you’d consider a fan, not sure I’m a fan of anyone, I tend to be a bit eclectic in my tastes, but I do like anti hero and all too well, and when I watched her eras concert, I did recognise she is incredibly talented and a grafter. Apparently to prepare for it, she was running for 3 hours on a treadmill and singing at the same time, to ensure she could do the signing and dancing for that amount of time.

i think what impressed me though, is she is top of her game, and it’s women who put her there. Her female fans. It’s the very definition of girl power.

im not a fan of pulling other women down, she’s achieved a huge amount, is hugely talented, As a musician, singer, songwriter and business woman, and that should be applauded. We should support each other as women, not seek to rip them down.

LaurieStrode · 25/12/2023 10:35

@CrispsandCheeseSandwich

I truly do not recognize her music or that of Beyonce or other pop singers of the past 25 years.

Basically I don't have kids that would bring it into the house, I don't watch tv programmes that would feature it, or radio. I don't really go to clubs that play music (I'm 60). Most of my listening is to audiobooks or classic rock from the 60s-80s.

Perhaps it's been on in shops or other public spaces but I wouldn't know who was singing. Nor care.

A friend's daughter & granddaughter were playing it when I was there for tea the other day. Unimpressed. She's no Barbra Streisand or even Lady Gaga. She sounds low-class. But I do admire her business acumen.

Alcyoneus · 25/12/2023 10:49

Arguably the most overrated pop star in the history of pop.

So like... 25 years ago you just went, enough music, I will listen to nothing new? 😳

CormorantStrikesBack · 25/12/2023 11:16

Why would she want the hassle and stress? She’s as rich as fuck. If I was that rich I’d either carry on doing what I love (music) or retire and holiday.

has she shown any interest in politics?

LaurieStrode · 25/12/2023 12:05

@tabulahrasa

I guess. Music has never been particularly important in my adulthood; I don't really seek it out. Occasionally play oldies at home.

Plus she started in the American country genre, which I avoid like the plague.

More power to her; she seems to have a strong work ethic. But her voice certainly wasn't what I expected considering all the hype.

Reagan did it, he was an actor first.

He had previous political experience as governor of California though.

There's a pattern of behavior being one of the worst individual people on earth contributing to climate change then spinning it like she's actually a great person- fucking lying to make herself look better, obsessed with her public persona and making everyone like her. She even sings about it. Peak narcissism.

Anyone who wants to be famous is a narcissist to some degree, goes with the territory.

NotAnotherPylon · 25/12/2023 13:42

Are you American OP? If not, why do you care?

Oh and 🤣🤣🤣🤣
