Work in a nice team. We get presents over Xmas. The usual chocolates etc. One member of the team has started saying I eat all the chocolate and have hidden some for myself. This isn't true. Literally everytime I get up out my chair this starts. Ohhh grapefruit has gone for the food, she's eaten all the goodies. It's getting on my fucking tits.

Speak to your line manager. Work place bullying implying you're fat and greedy.

I'm a size 10!

nothing will get an Op back sharper than suggesting they may be bigger than they are! I love that this is the only response! 😂

Callipygion · 20/12/2023 20:45

As a second thought, if I was hugely pissed if I’d told her to stop and she hadn’t, I’d maybe say yes I am, & go to the chocolates and pick the whole lot up and put them in my desk (or bag if it’s big enough) and see if she thinks that’s funny.

wildwestpioneer · 20/12/2023 20:48

Great joke Linda. I'm sure you can reuse it at Easter too!

Tinkerbyebye · 20/12/2023 20:49

Next time just say it was slightly funny the first time you said it, now it’s not, I find your comments highly insulting and would like you to stop

AuntieJoyce · 20/12/2023 20:52

Do you have a whiteboard in the office? Write on it in big letters: shitty colleague’s tedious daily joke.

next time she makes a joke just go and write the date next to it. Maybe have an a.m. and p.m. for you to tick like they do in public toilets

obviously use the right name rather than shitty colleague Grin

When people make shitty jokes at me, I just say my how we chortled and do fake laughing motions. I would do that too, the bitchy cow

Thepossibility · 20/12/2023 20:56

"You sure are obsessed about those chocolates Julie, go and have one I won't tell" loudly back at her every time.

Odiebay · 20/12/2023 20:58

I had a comment from my boss about..fruit! Ridiculous.

I said " please don't comment on my eating habits again". Very awkward silence but never happened again.

NeedOutASAP · 20/12/2023 21:00

I'd just say, "If you're not fast, you're last" whilst licking my lips.

Dacadactyl · 20/12/2023 21:01

Grapefruitstars · 20/12/2023 20:12

I'm a size 10!

I'm wondering why this comment has got to you then?!

I mean yeah, it's tedious, but it's not like she's being nasty then is it!

catsnore · 20/12/2023 21:04

I'd be tempted to grab the sweets and do a weird little dance with them for her in front of her desk. Decorate her desk with sweets and sweet wrappers. Maybe eat a few in a greedy way. Get the attention of the entire office and then breezily walk off with a no fucks given 'are you happy now Julie, or do I have to do that every day?'

Dacadactyl · 20/12/2023 21:09

GodDammitCecil · 20/12/2023 19:29

What is she trying to do then, in your opinion?

I mean, I know you can’t get inside her head to answer that, but she’s doing something - and it’s well and truly not appreciated.

No idea what she's trying to do tbh, but I wouldn't be attributing some nasty motive to her! She prob just thinks it's an in joke now about the chocolate! I mean, I don't think it's funny either, but I wouldn't be putting it down to malice on the colleagues part!

Ffsmakeitstop · 20/12/2023 21:10

velvetoptions · 20/12/2023 17:28

as in completely wrong or misspelt?

just being nosy!

Completely wrong and to make matters worse I spelt it wrong the second time 😂 I should probably just give in.
He wasn't snarky just aggravating.

mottytotty · 20/12/2023 21:13

Email them and copy their manager and tell them that if the food and body shaming continues, you will have to report to HR. That will scare the shit out of them. Don't say it verbally, email them.

ActDottie · 20/12/2023 21:40

They’re probably eating all the choccies and trying to cover it up!! I’d just tell them to shut up and that the joke is old.

AlwaysGinPlease · 20/12/2023 21:42

Oh OP I feel your pain. I know someone that does that and it's pathetic. They're deflecting and embarrassing them is the key, as others have said.

NaughtybutNice77 · 20/12/2023 21:58

husbandcallsmepickle · 20/12/2023 16:34

Maybe they're trying to distract from the fact they're the one eating all the treats

Yes, turn this back on them. Say out loud "I'm starting to worry about you Snidey. Now we all know you're quite partial to a chocolate yourself but you've become obsessed recently. Why have you appointed yourself guardian of the dairy milk.

Or maybe come back with a handful for her and drop them on desk so she can keep them safe. By the power of cocoa

Hankunamatata · 20/12/2023 22:04

Call them out every time

ThinWomansBrain · 20/12/2023 22:08

mathanxiety · 20/12/2023 16:54

"That might have been funny the first time you said it, but it's just really boring now".

this, accompanied by dumping the whole bloody box on her desk so that she can be chocolate supervisor if she's so bloody obsessed with it.

Edited

She's implying OP is greedy and having more than her fair share of the chocolates. How is that NOT an insult?

Dacadactyl · 20/12/2023 22:14

@DerekFaker I'm presuming everyone knows where the chocolates are?! If they want them they'd better be quick in my office.

It's the fact they are making out I'm eating all the chocolates. It just pisses me off. I feel like I'm being scrutinised.

Dacadactyl · 20/12/2023 22:33

@Grapefruitstars I'd just think she was odd (with her own food issues) and carry on eating them whenever I wanted them.
