Trans women do not have periods.

According to period pants maker Modibodi, transwomen can have 'periods'. Periods which are just as valid apparently.

Whilst I'm not going to suggest I know what hormone treatment tied to a trans woman, I can confidently say that no, they don't have periods. Periods involve blood. Trans women don't bleed.

Modibodi seem to acknowledge that there is no bleeding involved I transwomen's 'periods' but bizarrely under a section on how to manage their periods, trans women should wear period pants. For the life of all God's WHY???! Wtf would wear period pants if they didn't have to?

“People who menstruate” so a female then ffs

@AppleChristsBirthdayMacchiato Can anyone point to where on the website it actually refers to transwomen?
Links and screen shots all over this thread if you bothered to take a look

Also maybe you should have put the link in your OP?

This whole confusion (and need to lecture people for assuming the link on p1 is the one under debate) wouldn't exist if you'd simply added the link in the first place.

Period pants are not superfluous. The whole thread is about a website selling period pants to transwomen.

Period pants are superfluous to a trans woman who does not actively shed blood. That’s what I meant.

Newsenmum · 19/12/2023 20:43

Did they mean transmen? Or maybe anyone can wear them but obviously they’re especially useful if you have periods.

No, they think women should be kind to trans women who have periods.

  1. we want to live like women
  2. we want to be women
  3. we don't need to have the right biology to be women
  4. we actually are women
  5. we are more like women than you women ever will be.

The last 5 years in a nutshell

This!
Also fuck any man sating they "feel" like they have periods, no you most certainly do not! It is insulting to women to peddle this bullshit, I have awful periods always have, I have endometriosis, I bleed through a night pad in 20minutes, a thick reusable in an hour, plus flooding and massive clots, every 2-3 weeks with symptoms pretty much all the time. So again fuck you men who "feel" like you get a period!

@CatMadam Every thread you accuse people of being transphobic it's boring! No one is transphobic on this thread we are just saying we think it's batshit crazy. And I am saying I feel insulted due to my experiences, but I guess that doesn't matter to you, you'll just carry on "being kind"

scorpiogirly · 19/12/2023 20:47

It's a fetish. For the life of me I can't understand why these companies cater for them.

MrsTwatInAHat · 19/12/2023 20:47

It’s not OK. It’s rude, disrespectful and insulting to women (actual real female women) and girls who do menstruate and have to live with reality of that for a huge part of their lives. The whole process is unique to females and only females know what it’s like. It’s what woke people might call “appropriating our lived experience “ but because it’s only women and girls being insulted, it’s fine.

Imagine if an incontinence pad company did features about men who like to wear incontinence pads as a fetish and like to pretend to have quadruplegia or dementia because it’s their “identity” and it’s just as valid as really having those things. That would be fucking insulting and outrageous. And yet people without those things could have them one day. While males can never menstruate.

it’s just plain old same old misogyny.

appylittle · 19/12/2023 20:48

Well this is all sorts of wrong.

Would it be ok if I pop along to the testicular cancer clinic? I don't have or never will have testicles, as I'm female born. I'm just feeling hormonally male and feel sad I don't have testicles.

As someone who suffers horrendous periods... no man will EVER understand. Its like a fetish this stuff. An absolute nightmare.

Serious question: How is this different to dressing up as a certain culture? Or doing one's hair as a style from a different culture? It's all frowned upon. It's essentially cosplaying. You are cosplaying as someone that sheds bits of their uterus.

What next in this world? Cosplaying as sick people? Cosplaying like you have pcos? Cosplaying like you have endometriosis? To replicate mine you could just tip a whole jug of ketchup in your pants every time you stand up... ruin all your bedding and only wear black trousers.

Does this company not get that that periods for some are a source of misery. Those who are having trouble conceiving. Those with the variety of menstrual medical issues. This role playing is sick. It's as sick as pretending you are unwell.

the etiquette to not comment until you've at least read all OP posts only really applies to threads about an OP's personal situation

i take your point but i don’t think that it just counts in a personal situation. The op may have changed their minds about this subject and apologised but no one would have read that post

plus its not the disagreeing i have an issue with, its those calling everyone hysterical or with daily mail levels of comprehension 😀

I agree with you but I haven't called anyone "hysterical" or "Daily Mail level comprehension", I literally just politely asked for a link, and got quite a few rude comments upbraiding me for not having read the full thread, which continued for two pages after I'd acknowledged that I'd made an error, and said how awful and wrong the blog post was.

I realise MN is pretty cannibalistic at the best of times, but we should focus on fighting this ideology, not each other.

Yes, males don't have periods.

Women should not be told to 'be kind' to males who don't have periods when they are having self induced hormonal mood swings by sanitary product companies.

If you can't see why that matters then you crack on but many women are sick to the teeth of being gaslit to being support humans to males with a fetish.

Honestly, the language you're using makes it sound like you've been knee deep in gender critical text books and are just regurgitating it.

Your extremism isn't helping anyone. Calm down and put the podcasts down.

I do not think transmen ( or transwomen for that matter) who wear periods pants have a fetishism. However I do wonder about all you people who seem to be completely over invested on what underwear someone else is wearing, when it has absolutely no affect on your daily lives.

Please, please stop sharing false information, OP. The pants are aimed at transmen, many of whom do still have periods, not trans women, none of whom have periods.

Tips for navigating your period as a trans womanHere are some top tips for managing your period as a trans woman:

  • Track your hormonal cycle: Use a tracker app like Clue to keep tabs on your cycle and any related symptoms. This is a quick and easy way to feel more prepared and in control.
  • .Wear period underwear: By offering a sense of comfort, freedom and security, period underwear can help you feel comfortable, affirmed and empowered throughout your cycle. Check out our Women’s briefs and All Gender collection

Will share it again.

They are encouraging transwomen to wear the period pants

Tips for tracking your period when you're trans

If you’re transgender or non-binary, tracking your menstrual cycle can help you identify patterns and be prepared for what's coming next.

Good grief you think it's extremist to KNOW that males don't get periods? And to think that any male who believes he gets periods and uses sanitary products is a fetishist makes me an extremist?

Well at least that makes a refreshing change from being called a transphobe and a bigot for believing in the truth!
