Inspired by another thread.

Postie?
Hairdresser?
Cleaner?
Window cleaner?
Gardener?

Anyone else? Do you tip people who are in any way friends even if you pay them for a service? Do you give gifts rather than money?

Bin men.

We have different post men each time, anyway.

I don’t tip beyond what I usually do all year round, which is 10% for hair and any other beauty stuff (nails etc). My postman is a twat and the bin men are also bastards so I wouldn’t give them anything. I do try to keep some cash for any nice delivery drivers but I’m pretty cashless so don’t always remember

Your epic description of your postie and bin men made me spit my tea out😂

I saw something in the Times this week about companies in the UK trying to extract more and more tips from people by adding it (and several % options) as an option on card machines etc.

If companies want more cash, they can levy a particular percentage and publicised service charge as (reputable) restaurants do, (eg they say on their menu that there's a 10% service charge for groups of over 8 people) or they just increase the price. A price should be the price, not minus undefined service charges. It is a bit like drip pricing.

A jar for coins is ok, any more is taking the mick.

I think it's really patronising to give people tips. Serious Lady Bountiful vibes.

Also not sure about giving "Quality" St to the courier drivers.

Given how "Quality" St offends trade descriptions these days, that might be considered an insult Grin

Lindt chocolate surely darlings.

Not very stealthy stealth post I'd assume. 🫣

I find this a strange comment. Surely if people don’t share their experiences of different lives, people may think that their own life is the common experience for all.

You don’t know me, no one on here knows me, why is it boastful to share my experience? My life is different to yours, but so what, I don’t expect anyone to care.

I didn’t know the bonus data until someone shared it up thread. I’ve learned something. It hasn’t stopped me giving bonus’ to those that work for me, despite it being a lot less common than I assumed.

My comment stands.

My comment stands.

Good for you 😂
I can assure you if I wanted to boast (a bit like this), I’ve got a lot more I could boast about.

See what I did there 😁👍🏻

Again, my comment stands.
No interest in whatever else you want to boast about. Tschüss.
