Honestly! DD15 and I discovered Ghosts a few weeks ago and have been watching whenever we can. Not sure what series we're on but we've seen two Christmases so maybe series three?

Anyway - it really is one of the funniest series I have seen for decades (having been brought up on Blackadder and Red Dwarf the bar was high, plus my kids don't always appreciate the older stuff....).

Just seen one where something happens to make them all stare into the sky to remember lost loved ones. I won't spoil it but anyone who has seen it will know which episode I mean. I can't find the clip on Youtube - if anyone can add a link that would be great!! I cried with laughter - but it's poignant and hilarious too......

@Nottheeightoutoftencats BBCiPlayer. The twists and turns this show is taking…equally funny and edge of your seat stuff.

Thanks to whoever suggested Bill - I watched it this afternoon and really enjoyed it.

I particularly enjoyed Ben Willbond as Philip II…

The actor who plays Robin is actually a bit of a hottie- look him up. (I won't spoil the other surprise for you there OP 😉)

He also plays Humphrey's head so is there in plain sight.

Matildalamp · 17/12/2023 19:23

Love Ghosts, have watched from the very beginning. I love Pat, he’s a bit like a golden retriever. And Robin ❤️

Gherkingreen · 17/12/2023 19:35

Ghosts kept us going through lockdown, it's beautifully written, wonderfully acted, so warm and thoughtful, like a big comforting hug.
I envy those only just finding it, I'd love to watch it all again for the first time. Robin has the best lines, perfectly delivered. Love that the neanderthal was written as the wisest philosopher.

Theeternalrocksbeneath · 17/12/2023 19:41

Ghosts is immense!! I adored every episode and mourned when it finished. I keep hoping for one more series or a Christmas special but alas to no avail - yet!

It’s my ultimate go to when I need a bit of humour and love in my tv viewing. It’s so warm, kind, funny and all round brilliant 😊

Love Robin and Captain. And Mary. And Pat. Bloody love them all.

CaveMum · 17/12/2023 19:44

@Theeternalrocksbeneath there’s a final episode on Christmas Day.

Nottheeightoutoftencats · 17/12/2023 19:52

I love the fact that we are all agreed that a program with a main character called 'Fanny Button' doesn't have smutty humour it. 😂😉

DontBeAPrickDarren · 17/12/2023 19:56

I think the naughtier humour in British Ghosts is pitched just right in that it sails over younger children’s heads, gets a smirk from the tween/teen and has us adults guffawing. The US version was just too obvious and it made it an uncomfortable watch with a primary age child which British one never is

PuttingDownRoots · 17/12/2023 20:02

My 10yo can be a bit naive so I do wonder when she will twig that Julian wasn't getting ready for bed when he died (our explanation a couple of years ago!)

Edited to add: it’s not that I doubted you but I had to check google and it has confirmed your wonderful news!

LauderSyme · 17/12/2023 20:05

Ghosts is brilliant, it makes me proper lol and all the actors are really good. The plague pit ghosts are ace. Am so pleased I discovered it.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 17/12/2023 20:06

Oh I love Ghosts so much! Such wonderful, easy, emotional, funny viewing - it's my go-to for a calming watch when the world gets too much.

🤣 Nonworries @Theeternalrocksbeneath! Just checking to be sure, but you have seen the latest series yes? It was on not that long ago.

Wallabyone · 17/12/2023 20:33

Ghosts is brilliant, a real favourite in our house.

Many of the actors (Alison, Mike, Mary, Thomas's cousin) are in the series Stath lets flats...it's a bit niche but pretty funny!

Theeternalrocksbeneath · 17/12/2023 20:34

@CaveMum I did! I may have shed the tiniest of tears when we had the Captain’s episode…..

I knew I was up to date, which is why I was so surprised I’ve missed news of the Christmas special! I’ve already made my husband aware that any Christmas Day plans will now have to be worked around it 😄

Ozgirl75 · 17/12/2023 20:37

We’re big Ghosts fans here too - also did the tour at West Horsley Place and it’s really good.
When Julian tears up talking about missing his child’s childhood and then finds out what she’s up to now, and when Pat watches the video and then when we find out what happens to the Captain - all so lovely and softly emotional.

Mummyratbag · 26/12/2023 11:17

Really loved the final Christmas episode! No spoilers.

Ozgirl75 · 26/12/2023 11:53

Loved it as well - might go back and watch the whole thing from the start.

Really loved the final Christmas episode! No spoilers.

DH watched it last night. He came to bed and told me not to bother, it was shite! He was gutted as he’d waited forever for it.
I watched it this morning and loved it!

Mummyratbag · 26/12/2023 12:51

I thought it was the right ending - Call The Midwife now!

Mothership4two · 27/12/2023 00:38

I loved it too. Perfect ending. Just sad it's finished.
