So I've been this morning to a new hair salon, since my usual lady of 7+ years has moved away.

I asked for highlights, but have just got home to natural light and feel like they're white yellow and streaky? Am I over analysing? I asked for a cool blonde, almost icy..

What do I do? I don't feel particularly satisfied with what I've got 😢

They look fine to me. If you want them more icy blonde try a purple shampoo.

Cheeesus · 15/12/2023 16:44

If you wanted them lighter, then they would be even more stripey because there would be more contrast. Maybe there should be a mid colour too. Did you have a photo of what you wanted?
They don’t look caramel to me. They look cool.

ideallyno · 15/12/2023 16:45

I always have a middle parting, but will try it out a different way!!

I'm also upset as she cut a LOT of hair off when giving me a trim. I've gone from long mid back length to collarbone length because each time she trimmed it she said it wasn't even. I'm just gutted.

It’s ok. What does it look like with your hair loose?

Oh that’s awful.

atthecoreofallyoudo · 15/12/2023 16:47

I actually think the colour looks nice!

Deliadidit · 15/12/2023 16:48

I think the colour doesn’t go with your own colour hair if that makes sense? Maybe a toner?

Olika · 15/12/2023 16:48

What if you tie your hair up for tonight?

ideallyno · 15/12/2023 16:48

When down. Sorry for the dodgy lighting. It does look much more of a contrast in person 😔

They're terrible. They're just stripes. They need blending in properly which takes skill and experience.

FreshWinterMorning · 15/12/2023 16:51

Looks nice @ideallyno Especially down moreso than up - still looks OK up though. But better down/loose. Smile

ideallyno · 15/12/2023 16:53

It's strange and I can't really explain what the issue is. I think it's the contrast to my natural colour, too: it still looks like my old hair but added in are some yellow stripes 😣😂😂

pastypirate · 15/12/2023 16:55

It's the stack that's not right. So usually the hairdresser would put the foils in from the bottom to the top and then the top of your head it goes front to back with the foils all piled up so that the colour isn't in stripes like this.
The colour is alright and I would say that's a cool blonde but the foils haven't been done correctly at all.

Frasers · 15/12/2023 16:55

Down it looks Really lovely

Letsgetouttahere2023 · 15/12/2023 17:00

The colour is fine but that's probably because that's from your old hairdressers work / records!

The but that the new lady has done is the roots. They are very stripy and very 1990s/2000, not cool

For tonight I'd change your parting and maybe an Alice band or something yo soften it up
tthoroughly tomorrow id definitely never be going back to that hairdressers!

stayathomegardener · 15/12/2023 17:03

I'm an 80's girl and have a hell of a job convincing hairdressers to give me stripey or blocky hi lights so yeah unless you've asked for that look it's not good practice.

DragonMama3 · 15/12/2023 17:07

You look nice op!

DragonMama3 · 15/12/2023 17:08

Next time, if the service isn't on par or the water is cold speak up

laclochette · 15/12/2023 17:09

I'd go back and ask for a partial refund, then go elsewhere for a correction. One of the best pieces of advice my excellent hairdresser gave me was "never trust the person who made the mistake to make it right".

DragonMama3 · 15/12/2023 17:10

I second that! After I had my eldest I'd saved up and got ginger hair instead of the blonde I'd asked for. The salon owner offered to correct it. I saved up and went elsewhere.

Charlize43 · 15/12/2023 17:12

Were you meaning to go for a Retro Zebra look, Rainbow or expecting Balayage?

Crikeyalmighty · 15/12/2023 17:12

Personally I think it looks great as my hi lights look less stripey and I would like them a bit more so! But if it's not what you wanted then pop back in

DragonMama3 · 15/12/2023 17:13

That's not balyage
