To wonder why the queue for the ladies toilets is always longer than the mens?

Today queuing for the toilet in a shop this is my observation and in general I notice it too.

The ladies toilet has a massive queue. The mens toilet has no queue.
Men are in and out of their toilets much quicker.

Do women go to the toilet more often than men then? 🤔

I honestly don’t know what some women do in the loo, I could have sewn myself a tampon in the time some take. Some people are just massive faffers. I imagine it’s the same people who get to the front of a supermarket checkout and suddenly start routing around for their purse.

Also, if mumsnet is to be believed, it doesn’t help that some insist on taking their 300 month old sons in with them, because the men’s bogs are full of baddies apparently. Even though it looks pretty good from where I’m standing, at the back of a mile long effing queue.

I often can't go if I know there are people waiting for you to hurry! Could feel like I'm going to burst but once sat down!

Shewhobecamethesun · 13/12/2023 23:19

I went to legoland recently and was shocked by the difference in queue length. Then I looked and realised nearly every woman had a child (both girls and boys) with them whereas the men just went in by themselves so could be in and out quickly. I could only imagine how much quicker the ladies queue would be if dads took their kids to the gents.

I can not believe how many posters are taking the time, to describe in such detail, how a woman uses a toilet.

YireosDodeAver · 13/12/2023 23:24

Women take significantly longer on average but most buildings give equal space to men's and women's loos so the men's have a much higher capacity.

Women will usually need to take off more clothing before using the loo and about 15% will be needing to check or change a SanPro while in there. A significant number of older women (don't have the stats) are likely to be dealing with symptoms connected to prolapses brought on by childbirth which might make things take longer too.

All buildings that aren't private residences should be mandated to dedicate twice as much floor space to womens loos as mens loos in order for toilet access to be equal and not pro-patriarchy.

It's worst at theatres where women have to spend the whole interval queuing for a wee whereas the men can go to the bar, get a drink and enjoy it, and still have time for a quick wee before returning to their seat.

happyinherts · 13/12/2023 23:25

Go to an evening London theatre showing where there are no children present, and women tend to be of an older demographic (unlikely to be changing sanitary protection). Queues are monumental. It's a real dilemma because what can you do when you're bursting?

90 percent of the time a woman is in the cubicle of a crowded toilet with a queue, she is actually waiting for the cistern to refill enough to flush adequately. If you flush too early and the wee and loo paper doesn't disappear, just turns over lazily, then you are back at square 1 waiting for that cistern.

I have experienced this many times. I do not want to go out of the cubicle leaving an unflushed poo or blood in the toilet bowl.

mantyzer · 13/12/2023 23:29

@happyinherts they will be changing incontinence pads instead.

CheekyLittleElf · 13/12/2023 23:37

It's cause there's men using the women's too

Alarum · 13/12/2023 23:38

You’ve pretty much answered the question in the OP - there’s no queue because men are generally quicker in the toilet. Stand at a urinal for 30 seconds, wash hands (hopefully), and out.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 13/12/2023 23:47

Children, periods, coats/ skirts/ handbags - longer time to undress and then dress fully again.

I honestly don’t understand what some women do in a toilet cubicle. I think some have a little nap they take that long.

I've often wondered how it takes women so long to go.
