According to recent threads:

Everyone over the age of about 35 looks way younger, constantly mistaken for younger, doesn't have a line on their face yet despite never using suncream, and their nan only used bin juice on their face and smoked 80 fags a day but had beautiful skin at 103 years old.

Everyone had sex with their complete stranger dp within about 4 seconds of meeting them for the first time, their dp moved in that night and never left and they're coming up to 762 years of happy marriage now.

Everybody on here seems to earn 200k in some mysterious job that doesn't seem to exist, they can't quite explain what they do, but they worked their asses off to get to this level of seniority which involves them working 3 hours a week for 2 weeks a year.

Interested to hear any more.

This is a joke, right? OW are absolutely vilified on here.

Nooo! We must have seen different threads lol all I ever see is OW support

Nooo! We must have seen different threads lol all I ever see is OW support

I think the support you see/mean is when people blame the OW for the affair, when it's the married man who is the villain, as HE is the one who made the marriage vows to his wife. So people say 'don't aim your vitriol at the OW. She owes the wife nothing.'

I disagree, and think the OW is as much of a c**t as the married man, but some people think she should be absolved of blame!

We are definitely looking at different threads. And I've never seen anyone support an OW...just point out that when a man cheats, it's on him. Usually a handful of posters against a tidal wave of people who think marrying someone and having kids with them doesn’t make you any more obliged to them than a total stranger ("equally to blame").

I am pretty sure that if she also shat on you while wearing your wedding dress or whatever it was, she'd get vilified for that too.

Ah yes, the old "She owes the wife nothing" defence. It's baffling.

I owe my neighbour nothing. Does that mean I can go and ruin her life, break her heart and trash her family?

Bizarre way of thinking.

A new one to add to the list- everyone's DD is absolutely stunning, modelesque, breathtaking.

The thing that I've learnt from Mumsnet is that if you don't/won't drive, (medical conditions aside) you are not normal.

Anyone who behaves in a nasty, vindictive or unkind manner either has dementia,or serious mental health issues. They are never just a nasty person.

coldcallerbaiter · 12/12/2023 23:08

The word GRIM is used a great deal.

All the child-free threads I have seen so far are complaining about parental work leave and entitlement by parents etc, not saying they are wrong, the stories may be true, but why are these people here? Mumsnet is a forum/website by parents for parents, it is literally under the title of Mumsnet.

NT.....so I understand ND but to me NT is just comparable to using the unnecessary term cisgender...It is like me saying NA to non-allergic people....

There are many ducks that need to be in a row

I can't be the only who on seeing the words ducks in a row visualises an old fashioned fairground stall and an air rifle.

I have learned that
90% of MN are off their rockers.
5% have 101 and 111 on speed dial.
5% of threads are made up.

The last two are very underestimated!

OW is a massive c..t too

Why? Because it is the woman who gives the green light, it is her in charge of an affair, women have the power.......

A woman that stomps over another woman's family is a c..t

That if you’re not having anal sex at least three times a week, alongside frequent outdoor sex, dressing up, using handcuffs and whips whilst partaking in the occasional threesome or partner swap, then it means you’re “vanilla” 😂

I honestly think it is men on those threads talking to each other....they seem to gravitate

coldcallerbaiter · 12/12/2023 23:28

That if you look back at page 1 million in the past and get transported to eg. 2011, life was so different and a bit more innocent!

I looked at a few random ones, webcams mentioned a lot and tech difficulties and the AIBU were much more clear-cut and simple too.

BettyUnderswoob · 12/12/2023 23:48

Something I've learnt from here is that people will believe absolutely anything. Any old shite they read, both on here and other places online.
A good few of the MN classic stories and posts are so ridiculous, but some MNers are very gullible credulous, and hoover up every word.

AngryBirdsNoMore · 12/12/2023 23:55

That people will post a worrying amount of personal info about their finances.

mrlistersgelfbride · 13/12/2023 00:09

Some people are really rich and don't even realise it. 100k is not a big enough salary to survive on in London.

There's a magic age to have kids between 31 and 37. However if you've left late it til 45 it'll be fine; someone across the road had 2 kids at nearly 50.

More southerners than northerners use Mumsnet.

Men have hobbies that take them out of the house at weekends, usually golf or cycling, but you can't talk about the hobby as we might know who they are.

What 'grey rock' is.

Most people are autistic, and nearly all children are autistic.

I'm not knocking it, but why is this so common? Actually a genuine question!

Nobody seems to drink tea.

It’s always,

“Why don’t you go out for a coffee?”

”Perhaps you could ask to meet him for a coffee?”

”Going for a coffee might be a nice idea for a date.”

It baffles me.

And people say that “coffee” is just used generically to indicate going to get a hot drink and so is inclusive of getting a cup of tea, but you never seeing anyone suggesting going out for a cup of tea with it being inclusive of having a coffee do you?!

It’s always about the coffee 😂

That MN don't ever have a cup of tea, it's always a cuppa tea 🤮

'These people' are here because Mumsnet does not consist solely of parenting advice.

Comments like yours remind me of those little girls in primary school who create secret clubs primarily for the purpose of telling others they're not allowed to join.

That you only ever answer 'No' to things you don't want to do, without further explanation, because it's a full sentence.

If a man earns more than the woman, the bills need to be split with him paying more/much bigger share.
If the woman earns more than the man, bills are equal and he needs to be grateful for the life she provides.
