To think primark in dangerous?

Starrystarryshite · 09/12/2023 20:41

I’m from Liverpool, so it’s a very busy primark right in the city centre. It’s our only one actually. But AIBU to think primark can be ridiculously dangerous?

Its not just a December thing, it’s every time. The amount of people in that shop is ridiculous. There’s no space to move, constantly shoulder to shoulder. Queues snaking right around the shop.

Surely there are capacity laws? I do not believe that what I saw today wouldn’t breach them if they exist.

Perhaps we are no longer used to crowded shops.

SecondUsername4me · 09/12/2023 20:43

The footfall is never going to decrease unless they do online shopping.

I mean, it's ironic when someone talks about how busy something is when they are part of that busy-ness.

Quite agree! Always think that when people moan about the roads too!!

PuttingDownRoots · 09/12/2023 20:50

They are trially click and collect! But yes, all Primarks can be rammed.

GandTtwice · 09/12/2023 20:50

It's not like that all the time. I have been there many times when it is busy but there's still plenty of room to move about. It is just this time of year on a weekend when it's extra busy that it gets like this.
If it's too much for you then perhaps try visiting at a quieter time if you can

sandrapinchedmysandwich · 09/12/2023 20:52

Have you ever been to a nightclub? A concert? A busy pub? All worse than Primark imo

gooddayruby · 09/12/2023 20:55

I doubt anyone's ever been trampled to death in primark

beautifullittletree · 09/12/2023 20:58

Not Primark specifically but yes of course very crowded areas pose a certain level of risk

Smartiepants79 · 09/12/2023 20:59

The building will have a safe capacity which the shop will have to stick to or they’ll be done for breaching their fire safety. If you live in Liverpool then surely you’ve seen the queues that can form outside primark on a very busy day.

Yes. Every weekend. And they aren’t.

It's two weekends until Xmas, of course it's going to be rammed, more than usual that is
My local one is pretty quiet to be honest

😂

We have the queues snaking round the shop in ours but it's hardly a crush actually shopping! Just a normal amount of people like any other shop

That’s my point. There’s never queues. I’ve been plenty of times when the shop is definitely overcrowded and should be at a one in, one out stage but no one stops more people entering.

IHateWasps · 09/12/2023 21:02

How small is your Primark? I was in our local one earlier this week and yes there was a very large queue and it certainly didn't snake around the entire building plus it's bloody huge so even when it's exceptionally busy there's usually plenty of room.

JenniferJuniper80 · 09/12/2023 21:04

ODFOD!
I live in Birmingham home of the worlds largest Primark. Busy but never threatening. Get a grip.

Smartiepants79 · 09/12/2023 21:06

That primark is enormous. And I have definitely seen queues outside it in the past. If you’re truly concerned then report them.

Okay maybe my autism was playing a part in this today. My bad.

I absolutely agree with you. They've crammed them with so much shite now that there's no space to move.

we went in the other day for dds requested pyjamas. I am physically disabled, I got knocked off my feet twice.

WhateverMate · 09/12/2023 21:10

Starrystarryshite · 09/12/2023 20:59

Yes. Every weekend. And they aren’t.

What sort of concerts do you go to that aren't busier than Primark?

WandaWonder · 09/12/2023 21:10

So you were also in primark but are now complaining about the overcrowding

There are other shops you could have gone too

Sidebeforeself · 09/12/2023 21:11

How was @JenniferJuniper80 supposed to know you are autistic though?

MrsMarzetti · 09/12/2023 21:12

The Primark in Liverpool is bloody awful, the entrance is really narrow and you are almost herded round the store. Even my Niece who can happily spend an hour and a half in Primark only managed 15 mins in the Liverpool one. It is hellish.

Jifmicroliquid · 09/12/2023 21:14

I wont go in that primark. It’s too busy and far too hot.
Liverpool Primark on a Saturday 2 weeks before Christmas… no chance!

GoodVibesHere · 09/12/2023 21:14

I'm surprised at the replies. I agree with you OP.

MrsAvocet · 09/12/2023 21:14

I thought you were going to say it's dangerous because you go in for a pair of tights and come out having spent a hundred quid on crap that you didn't need. That's my biggest risk in Primark, same as Lidl.
But yes, our nearest one does get very busy though I wouldn't say it was dangerous. They keep the queues moving very effectively at least.
