To think primark in dangerous?

I’m from Liverpool, so it’s a very busy primark right in the city centre. It’s our only one actually. But AIBU to think primark can be ridiculously dangerous?

Its not just a December thing, it’s every time. The amount of people in that shop is ridiculous. There’s no space to move, constantly shoulder to shoulder. Queues snaking right around the shop.

Surely there are capacity laws? I do not believe that what I saw today wouldn’t breach them if they exist.

God I love a drip feed/flounce OP!

I almost never go in unless I'm in the city early in the morning on a week day and it's nice and quiet.

OP has disclosed a disability and that's your response Sad

I was in Liverpool Primark this morning, surprised at how quiet it was compared to what I was expecting. About 11am.

Starrystarryshite · 09/12/2023 21:18

I don’t see how it’s a drip/flounce? I’m saying maybe it was my autism that is making me overthink it.

but I do think the Liverpool primark is a lot worse than people realise. I have been to several others in neighbouring cities such as Chester. They aren’t anywhere near the same so maybe I should’ve been more specific to say Liverpool one.

The layout of the store is dreadful and encourages a lot of backlog by the way you have to go round to each floor to get to the next escalator.

“The autism card” is a disgusting comment to make.

I doubt anyone's ever been trampled to death in primark

There was a fatal accident in Liverpool Primark ten years ago. There have been other incidents in the store since. Nothing so terrible as more safety features were introduced, but I understand what the OP means. It's a weird design compared to other Primark stores I think.

Go there early in the morning or last thing and it's much quieter. Same for other stores especially before Christmas.

The building will have a safe capacity which the shop will have to stick to or they’ll be done for breaching their fire safety. If you live in Liverpool then surely you’ve seen the queues that can form outside primark on a very busy day.

I think they just cram them in and ignore safety standards.

l can’t stand Primark, the crowds are hideous. I last went in about 3 years ago and just ran away,

Smartiepants79 · 09/12/2023 21:32

I have to say I think that’s unlikely. They are a huge national company. Fire regulations are very strict and checked regularly. Ignoring them will get them closed and fined. Never mind the huge PR disaster.

Carsarelife · 09/12/2023 21:35

I was in Liverpool 2 weeks ago and it was very busy and not much space to move but didn't feel it was dangerous.
Just accepted it was a busy Saturday and I was more curious about the beautiful dog outside with the man in his tent

I’m sorry, but in my local Primark (. 2 or so years ago) there was just no room to move. It was rammed in all the isles and the queue was unreal.

l cannot believe it’s safe to have that many people in. I remember the sales in the 70’s and 80’s and they were not a crammed as this.

M and S in the 80’s in Manchester was heaving. But nothing like Prinark is now.

Peachtails · 09/12/2023 22:41

That Primark is particularly bad, I think there was a death a few years ago on the escalator?

It could be set out better I agree.
