Typing with one eye closed to counteract double vision. So dehydrated that my boobs seem to have changed shape, DH is being an absolute fucking sadist and dragging his heels with the hash browns and sprite from McDonald’s. DS, as usual, is being an absolute gem and has fixed himself some crumpets and is down a Minecraft rabbit hole. Do I attempt the shower? Should I have a beer? Technically I’m off the hook today as all the laundry and arbitrary household tasks were completed Friday on my day off, I could just lay here and fester all day… what should I watch?

Drink lots of water. Eat some toast. Go back to sleep if possible.

TropDrôle · 26/11/2023 09:28

Don’t drink so much?

Is that helpful? 😁

Allmarbleslost · 26/11/2023 09:29

Have your McDonald's and go back to sleep

CornishGem1975 · 26/11/2023 09:30

Sleep it off. Only thing that works for me.

MadamVastra · 26/11/2023 09:31

Just wait and think how wonderfully holy you will feel when the anti hangover switch is flicked in a few hours 😃

SeptemberTime · 26/11/2023 09:31

Have a beer? No - that’s an issue in itself. Surely it can’t be that bad if your on mumsnet. Have some water.

Rottenpizzas · 26/11/2023 09:32

@TropDrôle oh it’s like my Nan’s come back from the grave 🤣 said with a glance over the top of her reading glasses as she’d pass me her prescription tramadol and a bottle of lucozade.
to be fair, I’ve always been terrible at drinking. It’s why I don’t often indulge. Last night was spectacular though and DH only has himself to blame for enabling it.
Bit dying though.

Loads of water and if you have motilliuem , probably spelled that wrong , take that and some painkillers . Curl up and put on some real housewives. Shower when the meds kick in .

GettinChillyHereFFS · 26/11/2023 09:32

Mcdonalds. Or pizza as soon as they open.

Lots of coke or lemonade.

Fishfingers, chips and beans for dinner.

rubyslippers · 26/11/2023 09:34

Pint of water

shower
pint of water
painkillers with carbs
the water helps hydrate you - it’s the dehydration which makes you feel horrendous

Rottenpizzas · 26/11/2023 09:34

@GettinChillyHereFFS Omg you’ve just unlocked some kind of memory, I need fishfingers and beans in my life now….

Yes to the shower, brush your teeth, clean PJs and back to bed/sofa with your McDs and a podcast/film/TV show of your choice. Keep drinking water/juice/coke. Skip the beer. You’d only be delaying the inevitable.

Abhannmor · 26/11/2023 09:35

Dialyrite....not sure of spelling. Nurse friend swears by it.

Windflower92 · 26/11/2023 09:36

Lucozade Sport and Berocca!!

smilesup · 26/11/2023 09:36

I think I nearly died last Sunday from drinking until 3am. I woke up at 8am, drank a pint of water and a tiny bowl of cornflakes. I forced myself to my Sunday morning exercise class which I very nearly died from in the first 10 mins by sweating pure alcohol, then made myself go on a hard walk up a hill with the dogs. I came home ate a lovely fry up. By lunchtime I was pretty fine.
If I lie in bed with a hangover it gets worse and worse!

80skid · 26/11/2023 09:36

Berocca and/or purdeys.
Water. Carbs. Sleep.

I hope you had a brilliant night!!!

TatoSpice · 26/11/2023 09:37

Hydration tablets
Lucozade
Shit load of salty food
Cheese on toast
Diazepam

EveryOtherNameTaken · 26/11/2023 09:37

Lemsip.
Watermelon works a treat too.
Crap food.
I feel your pain.

InsomniacA · 26/11/2023 09:37

Drink Gatorade, not water or Sprite. It has electrolytes that help you rehydrate faster and better. Also good to drink one before you go to bed after drinking, but helps hangovers go away fast the next day too.

Denimdenimdenim · 26/11/2023 09:38

These are a godsend if you can get some.

Pretend it doesn’t exist. Get breakfast, shower and crack on. The more you think about it the worse it is. What hangover?

Rottenpizzas · 26/11/2023 09:39

@PiggieWig i think you’re right. Back in the day when I worked in entertainment, the hair of the dog was the only way to get through the day after a session. We didn’t have time to hang. I suspect my elderly body will not ‘cruise’ through this with a couple of beers but it might actually finish me off 🤣 to be fair, I did wake up at 6:30 and have done several pints of water, still feel rancid though.

Depends what sorts your hangover.

Mine used to be a fry up (or McDs sausage and egg McMuffin or when due in work a Pret sausage roll or ham and cheese baked savoury. Plus ice cold ribena light. Also something else sweet, like a Twix or something. Plus painkillers.

I used to also go saintly and just have smoothie, smashed avocado on toast and then salad for lunch.

TodayForTomorrow · 26/11/2023 09:43

Nibbling on dry sweet cereal and ice cold orange juice usually gets me through. I never know how people stomach fry ups with a hangover. I'm always very nauseous with my body still heaving long after my stomach is empty and the smell alone would have be trying to eject my intestines through my throat.

Rottenpizzas · 26/11/2023 09:43

@smilesup I think you can probably collect some sort of honour from the king or a medal for that. Fuck. I couldn’t make it to the corner shop, let alone an exercise class. You have my respect ✊
