To think I may be psychic?

Icancallyoubetty · 23/11/2023 02:27

2 strange things have happened this week.

  1. I have a newborn and during the last midwife visit she asked me what my sons name was. I had a complete mind blank and for some unknown reason, very nearly said his name was Leo. His name is nothing like Leo and this was not a name we considered. I laughed and apologised to the midwife for basically forgetting my child’s name and said ‘so weird, I was going to say his name was Leo when it is not, it is X.’ She replied ‘Oh how funny, my son is named Leo.’….
  2. Tonight, I said to my husband that I’d noticed many more cars beeping each other on the busy road outside our living room window. I said ‘The cars need to slow down as there is going to be an accident one day.’ I was putting my eldest son to bed when my husband came and told me that a car had crashed outside into some railings. Luckily no one was hurt.

Is this a coincidence? Or am I truly gifted?

YABU - Just a coincidence you wally
YANBU - Do the lottery for this week asap

I think that new mothers have a heightened sense of instincts and awareness.
Not necessarily psychic, but special survival skills.

Elastica23 · 23/11/2023 04:04

I don't believe anyone is psychic, but some people have a great ability to pick up very subtle environmental and human cues.

Visuospatial awareness and other things do change. Your brain does weird things.

Psychic, no.

JanglingJack · 23/11/2023 04:10

I was driving to go shopping, saw my elderly neighbour at the bus stop and offered to drive her.
We were wandering around, I said to her, I'm so sorry I don't know your name!
Anne she said.
Oh that's funny, I always had you down as Frances for some reason.
She glared at me and said Frances was my twin sister but she died when we were 12.

We both had a wtf moment in the cereal aisle. We became good friends.

RedRobin100 · 23/11/2023 04:16

undoubtedly Truly Gifted

cerisepanther73 · 23/11/2023 04:40

My take in this is this,
is you could be becoming more intuitive, heighned awareness,
especially cause of your pregnancy,

some may it's just a coincidence,

What being psychic really is a Primeval surival instinct , that we all have, and share with animal kingdom,
it's a Primeval surival instinct that is there fore to protect ourselves from essentially predators that can harm us emotionally , psychological, sexually ,

It's just in our culture , society and other societies it's often been frowned , discouraged, even feared in history even persecuted, women and individuals who were strongly gifted , revealed to be,
in even contemporary times in certain cultures, of the world someone can be punished for this ability,

Paradoxically in certain times in ect history and contemporary times,
being psychic has been celebrated too,

we humans can be contrary ones,

it's interesting that at time you are growing developing a new baby inside you that this heightened awareness is occurring too

In Christian societies is often frowned discouraged ect, as its percieved as a being psychic as being devil's work, pagan like,
and yet in contradictory way,

the Christian Church, they spin this as being something else instead,
when it's essentially its the same thing,
for example in a similar manner as the 🍂 autumn Christian calender event , that celebrates harvest time, was a pagan celebration event back in history,

but has been adopted as a Christian event,

Can't rember the name of this ?

when someone says they have a gut reaction or gut feeling, spidery senses, it's essentially the same thing as being intuitively, psychic,

the way someone describes this about themselves,
depends on their type of personality, the way they have been brought up, nature vs nuture,
their faith systems beliefs, or not such as being a Aithest /humanist thinking, and the kind of society been brought up into,

Shalopea · 23/11/2023 04:44

Yes, you are… we all
are. 😀 It’s unlikely to work on the lottery though, sorry to say.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/11/2023 05:13

Everything in the universe is interconnected. Some people can tap into the energy. Source energy. The results are interesting. I’m not psychic but I have other ‘gifts’. I think we all do, it’s just our human brain and conditioning trains it out of us.

MixedCouple · 23/11/2023 05:15

Agree with @EdinGirl I was the same after my DS was born. Intuition was through the roof even before DS was born.

limefrog · 23/11/2023 05:19

Your examples are coincidences.

My view is that people who think they are 'psychic' are often just good at intuiting subtle clues and gestures which other people don't always notice.

For example being able to 'sense' someone's feelings is not really psychic, it's just emotional awareness - understanding the small signs they are showing which tell you how they feel. Some people don't pick up on them but they are not magical brain waves, they are things you can see if you are looking.

Got to be in it to win right?!

Wow! @JanglingJack that is spooky! Has anything similar happened like that since?

BeardedIrises · 23/11/2023 06:27

Of course you aren’t. Leo is a fairly common name you hit on randomly, and you’d actually noticed cars honking one another outside your house before concluding this suggested an accident was likely. One is coincidence, the other is you just noticing something that was actually happening.

Teatrayderby · 23/11/2023 06:27

Can you dm me a few random numbers and I'll let you know if I win the lottery.

Muchof · 23/11/2023 06:30

I do believe that some people are psychic, but your examples do not appear that way at all, especially the second one.

BookAddicted · 23/11/2023 06:32

It’s worth a visit to your GP

cerisepanther73 · 23/11/2023 06:56

@limefrog

i know what you mean, that's nuances in noticing people's emotions ,

there is different layers of this, heightened awareness, levels aswell
that is intuitive aswell

It's can be like a dance , a dynamic of both of these types of awareness,

It's just in our culture societies it often conditioned out of us to fit in socially in whatever society environment, family dynamics ect we've brought up into, that has quite strong influences over us,

I am extremely intuitive, to the point in which people have been fascinated by this, such as male and female bosses , work colleagues, and friends i know socially

Once people know i am very intuitively, ive had people want to find out how psychic i am ,
and on the other hand where a friend i had, became concerned that i was far too aware intuitively about her,

that she now actively avoids me, and even told me that it concerns her,
Ironically she is psychic herself,
losed someone i thought of as a good friend who we used a good laugh together,

she at first liked me being intuitive, then as time went on , started to change her mind about me being this way,

I have intuitively known what kinds of clothes shoes someone likes going around charity shops,
even though I've only known them for two weeks,
i said to them why don't you try that on see if it's fits,?
she said i am not sure, it's something that i like, look good on me,

she tried it on changing rooms and after that thanked me for suggesting this,

I've also intuitively sensed that someone i known had a blue car before,
even though they had never told me this, and I didn't know about them then when they did have a blue car,

I met up with them and just blurted out to them where is your blue car then,
i was looking out for that colour car,

I was told that they previously had a blue car they sold in the last few years,

they had moved into a new area of wales where I live from,
previously they lived in England,

I also had my deceased ex partner my children's father tell me that my brother would turn up to see me one day out of the blue, in random way,

When my ex partner told me about this,
i just laughed it off,

but indeed he did turn up unexpectedly my brother, at my front door with his best friend at the time,

he had run off from the children's home, dodging train fares, he was at , on a big adventure to Wales to see his big sister,
we were all brought up in care in our childhoods,

There's also been cases of people acting on their gut reactions have saved themselves from dangerous situations and people,

Also people who had a psychic , gut reactions spiderey feelings ect who have ignored it to fit in to society's expections , have regretted that they did so too

Look up about The gift of Fear on youtube

Have you had an instinctive feeling that' someone's dodgy even if you didn't know them, or weird feeling about a situation that you have acted on and someone told you don't be silly or stupid,
and later on found you were right to act on this ,

what about people who's Jobs, careers in which going on a hunch a sense has helped them,
is an advantage for them?

What about well known cases which have been celebrated , such as the one who found "the hunchback"King in history of UK in City of Leicester Car park.?

what about dowsers who dowse for minerals, water even dowsing for health in traditional ancient medicine cultures ?

What about ancient art of Feng Shui , in which buildings are built based on Feng shui principles ethos?

What about ancient histories discovies then?
they didn't have modern technologies back then to help them in any way,
How did they have the know how to achieve that.

cerisepanther73 · 23/11/2023 07:07

Oops sorry typo omission i forget to mention about King Richard the 1st , known as the "hunch back" King ,
when someone discovered his grave was near abouts at a car park in City of Leister ,

I am sure there is other cases,

In America they have famous psychic detectives,
on youtube Internet .

AhBiscuits · 23/11/2023 07:09

Leo is in the top 5 baby names.
It was a coincidence.

SharonEllis · 23/11/2023 07:22

Is this serious? A. Coincidence B. Noticing something

limefrog · 23/11/2023 07:23

@cerisepanther73 You're not psychic though - you're intuitive. Everything you say is perfectly explicable by intuition, survival instinct, evolution, and coincidence.
