Is it just becoming the norm? How is everyone affording it in a cost of living crisis?

To not find something attractive is not venomous.

I see no comments here that are passionately hateful. Many are sympathetic and worried over long term

Nah. Don’t try and twist that 99% of people on this thread are coming from a place of worry and concern. Don’t be deliberately obtuse. It won’t work.

BlueEyedPeanut · 23/11/2023 01:53

Give over. No one here is concerned about these women or the long-term effects. 🙄This thread is about judging other women and being snide.

Just look at the way people responded to that one lady above who had a bit of filler in her lips as part of reconstructing her face after an accident. Normally people would have responded with empathy, but not on this thread. People just jumped at the chance to tell her it looked unnatural, and it's obvious and everyone can tell. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

user1492757084 · 23/11/2023 01:57

It goes without saying that all people can do to their body what they please.
Their body, their choice. People do not tell others that they, personally, look ugly.
General critique is different.
People can give social commentry on the trends: the effects on environment, economy, the attractiveness of the look, the effects on peers, medical services etc. etc.
Thinking people should express opinions on all sorts of things they see parading about. And museums are full of collections of such historical data and fashion statements.

Ive noticed this too .. lip filler isnt expensive really.

My dentist is now doing fillers and botox, would you believe?

WearyAuldWumman · 23/11/2023 02:00

suntannedsnowballs · 22/11/2023 22:59

I had necessary facial surgery (corrective, after an accident) and got a small amount to re-balance my lips/return them to the way they were beforehand

You can't tell I've had them done - DH knows, but my own mother still threatens to kill me if I "fuck with my face" Grin and she will never be told the truth

However, I paid an absolute fortune to a plastic surgeon to have them done.. and he was under strict instructions to make it look like I didn't have any. I think the going rate around here for lips is £150 - £200 for 1ml

I had 0.5ml and it cost me £375

I will probably have to keep it up annually but honestly, you can't tell

I could maybe find a photo

Nothing wrong with that - good for you, having the confidence to go to a good surgeon.

Not necessarily. I've had no work done to mine, and I'd say that my bottom lip is a bit fuller than the top.

WearyAuldWumman · 23/11/2023 02:02

suntannedsnowballs · 22/11/2023 23:02

My lips look very normal

Lip fillers don't automatically mean duck lips

You look pretty.

FlissyPaps · 23/11/2023 02:03

People do not tell others that they, personally, look ugly.

99% of this thread are women stating other women look unattractive, scary, like sex dolls etc. I’d say that equates to ugly. Would you?

WearyAuldWumman · 23/11/2023 02:05

witchypaws · 22/11/2023 23:33

Naturally full lips aren't the same top and bottom Confused
My upper lip is thinner than my top. But then I've been told on here I have obvious lumpy lip filler before so Grin

Mine are similar to yours, I'd say, and I've had no work done. They've become a bit thinner with age.

user1492757084 · 23/11/2023 02:10

As a society we have afforded changes that are here to stay.
White repaired teeth, hair dyes, make up like lipstick etc, sunscreen to stop freckles, braces on bent backs and crooked teeth.
It will be interesting to see whether the lip fillers will persist.
It's true that we are bonbarded by them as a beauty statement now.

Some young women would feel pressure to conform to that standard and some would see the look as truly enhancing.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 23/11/2023 02:13

@user1492757084 you still haven't answered my question about the sexual messages lip fillers are giving.

Banana1979 · 23/11/2023 02:24

All these women, being disgusting to women who have had lip fillers. I bet you’ve all dyed your hair wear, wear mascara foundation, nails lashes tatoos
I don’t see a difference between that and lip fillers to be honest, some foundations look absolutely awful on people plastered on an orange and long false witchy nails with Tattoos on arms and legs which I don’t think looks attractive but I would never call somebody out for it
The point, I’m trying to make his we are entitled to do what we want with our bodies without having to be judged by others. I don’t like tattoos and foundation however, if it makes somebody feel better and more beautiful then why not.? I’ve had my lips done, and nobody could tell because I went to reputable Clinic renowned for natural results. However, if I had had them over done that would be my business.

user1492757084 · 23/11/2023 02:36

Well, Daisy x5, I'm thinking that many beauty treatments are to make one appear sexually attractive to the opposite sex (or to whom one is attracted to). Nothing wrong with acknowledging that.
Do trends like these place pressure on young women to pay for and undergo treatments to conform to what is the popular view of 'sexually attractive'? Do women feel that their natural look is unattractive and unenticing to men? Do young men become programmed to expect large, full lips and do they look for them more? All worth considering in this conversation. They are not venom filled ponderings.
The quest for perfection sometimes has negative effect on one's self worth and promotes unachievable standards for young men and women.

🚨incorrect 🚨

Nothing wrong with acknowledging that.

But it is wrong to slate these women and refer to them as looking like sex dolls, scary, awful etc. You do think that’s wrong don’t you? Or are the degrading remarks all part of the social commentry on the trends you speak of upthread?

askmenow · 23/11/2023 02:46

olderbutwiser · 22/11/2023 22:47

Grim. Shrieks “stick your dick in my gob” to me.

Exactly this ...Makes me think of engorged labial lips every time I see an overdone pouty pair!

I agree that some have posted in a slating way, however, I have not.

Many others, like me, have made generalised comments or have expressed their opinions on what they find worthwhile, attractive, or not, that do not personally attack anyone.

To comment on the new trend of lip plumping, it's affordability etc is not to disagree with any person's right to treat their own body how they wish.
It is not slating nor incorrect to acknowledge that many humans, like other creatures, like to appear attractive to their intended mates and that fact can motivate their use of beauty enhancement procedures. Other motivations could be peer pressure, skin health etc.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 23/11/2023 04:09

@FlissyPaps Have you got the balls to tell your dear nieces that their lips look awful? Because I bet you daren’t say anything remotely like that to their faces.

I have said that the enhanced large lips are not a look that I think is attractive. And I laugh at the large eye lashes sometimes and say "you're lucky you have good eyesight because you wouldn't even be able to blink if you wore glasses."

So yes, I do "have the balls" to tell her I don't like them, and I've said I just don't get why they've become so popular as I just can't see their attraction. She is still pretty with them, but I think she would be prettier without them.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 23/11/2023 04:12

@WearyAuldWumman - I'd trust a Dentist more than a beauty therapist. They are trained to apply injected medicines.

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 23/11/2023 04:37

@user1492757084 I don't buy for one minute that that's what you were saying

MarmaladeMaggie · 23/11/2023 05:22

CremeEggSupremacy · 22/11/2023 22:27

The bad kind of lip filler you’re referring to is everywhere because it’s cheap. Good lip filler that isn’t noticeable as being filler costs a lot more. Unfortunately there is little to no regulation in the injectables space so any random weirdo can perform cheap and bad lip filler

It is always, always, always noticeable.

MixedCouple · 23/11/2023 05:25

Cost of living crisis but can do Lip Filler, Nails, Hair extensions / Colouring etc etc. Really?

I think the word Poverty has grossly changed. Now kids are in poverty if they don't have a mobile phone or go to Majorca or Ibiza or Turkey in the summer holidays.
I think people need a reality check.

Did all the posters being shitty about the posted photo miss her 2 posts that explain that she had a bad accident, 3 x facial reconstructive surgeries? Or do you just not care about other people’s feelings at all?

I know, I was thinking the same

RampantIvy · 23/11/2023 06:00

Gobleki · 22/11/2023 22:56

It’s on its way out. The trendiest of young teens do not do filler or enhancements, very 2010,s!! . 90’s look of hardly any make up is in now. Always takes the other generations ages to catch up. It’s pretty unfashionable to have fake lashes and filler / heavy make up / contouring and tight gym clothes now.

The young women round here haven't got the memo yet. It seems more prevalent than ever.

Colette88 · 23/11/2023 06:25

OhNoOhNo · 22/11/2023 22:27

No idea, I’m too lazy to bother and would rather spend the money on other things. Not really bothered for the most part about what others do or hoe they spend their money.

I did see a 24yo actress had got them done and I was surprised as she was naturally beautiful and the bigger lips just looked unnatural and made her face puffy.

I remember thinking if a 24yo natural beauty feels the need to succumb to this nonsense then what hope for ordinary mortals.

Can I ask who this was?

Everyone's getting it because it's fashionable and women have FOMO - I see dreadful examples every day on the train, it makes me think of the Simpsons

Lip filler everywhere
Loubelle70 · 23/11/2023 06:28

It is everywhere and it is each to their own. The only people years ago that had lip jobs was porn stars. Thats where it comes from, sadly.
