To risk giving DD swift tickets for birthday without having any ???

Hi
I am probably being unreasonable 🤣🙈
DD turning 10 really wants Taylor swift tickets for her birthday.
birthday is very close to Xmas and as much as I tried I didn’t get tickets. Now my issue is the resale tickets are pricey. I would be able to buy resale tickets after Xmas financially but that would be after her birthday too.
with other kids to buy Xmas presents for and one birthday this month already paying that amount this month just isn’t going to happen.
is it too much of a risk to buy her like reveal tickets for her birthday and then find resale tickets later on ???
in guessing there will be resale tickets popping up.
I can’t get them additionally to other birthday presents because it would be completely unfair in the other children !

Hi - so a friend is in the situation that she wants to go on a different date so is selling hers to her friend/daughter and instead coming with me. Is this not allowed?

£795 Tickets. OMG!!!

Imamastermind · 22/11/2023 10:03

Hey OP, I recommend checking AXS regularly, you might get lucky. I managed to get 2 tickets (for me and my DD) last week, £160 each.

TeenLifeMum · 22/11/2023 10:12

We got tickets for a side view at £78 each last week. Dc will lose their minds as they know we really tried for the July dates and didn’t get them.

ManateeFair · 22/11/2023 10:19

This is possibly the worst idea of all the bad ideas.

£795 Tickets. OMG!!!

Some people in the US paid $4k for standing tickets.

I agree. A lot of people will be doing the same. Plus there will be people from other countries buying when they can't get hold of their own. I've seen threads on social media with people as far as US and Canada buying UK tickets and planning to fly over, because it actually works out cheaper than the resell prices there.

LameyJoliver · 22/11/2023 10:43

Missing the point probably, but why is everyone so obsessed with Taylor Swift? Is she really that good?

itsallabitofamystery · 22/11/2023 11:08

I saw these on Facebook recently, not sure if they have gone though or if they're even legit.

I'd worry massively about fake tickets.
There are so many scams about.

Regarding Ticketmaster, those are insane prices

How can that be an affordable or reasonable price?..

Scam. They are asking for direct message

itsallabitofamystery · 22/11/2023 12:03

@Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky she would be lynched as she lives at a caravan park we stay at. But I suppose she could have been hacked. I was in the same boat as OP with Harry Styles tickets but I was too scared of being scammed that I didn't buy any eventually...and I certainly wouldn't have paid £600+.

I had never heard of Twickets before this post though, I'm after Liam Ghallager tickets for next year so thanks to whoever posted that. Perhaps worth keeping an eye on OP?

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 22/11/2023 12:12

@itsallabitofamystery The ones I have seen look like hacked accounts, their posting history looks genuine but language used in the post doesn't tie up with the 'look' of the person.

Yes.

SlightlygrumpyBettyswaitress · 22/11/2023 12:47

I think that you are far better off telling DD now that you cannot get tickets. At 10 she will be disappointed but will understand.
You could explain how much resale tix are, that you will try again on the resale market after Christmas. What does she want to do? Hold over birthday and Xmas presents and see? If you don't want to discuss the actual cost, you could say that more may become free nearer the date.

Concannon88 · 22/11/2023 12:49

I can why you want to make her dream happen. But no. Anything could happen between now and then, that you need to spend money on. Also those tcmicketa can go for 500+ and shes 10, there are plenty of years ahead for her to go to concerts.

Thriving30 · 22/11/2023 15:47

These tickets are ridiculously difficult to get hold of if not impossible at this point. Please don't promise your daughter this.

InaBitofaHurry · 22/11/2023 16:09

Numberalphablock · 22/11/2023 00:46

@EmmaEmerald yeh I really tried but ticket master didn’t give me a code so was impossible. Now I’m looking at 600 a ticket minimum.

Someone on here a while back said to always try and buy from the venue direct, or at least from the venue's dedicated ticket seller, as apparently Ticketmaster is there to sell all the less desirable seats first, to make sure they get sold.

So if you go on Ticketmaster when a ticket sale opens and all you can see are tickets miles aways from the stage, you assume that's all that's left and buy them.

When actually the venue or their own ticket agency are selling all the decent tickets.

Numberalphablock · 22/11/2023 00:51

@Nagado any date … any venue 🤣🤣 we would travel ! She is v sick and I just want so desperately to make it happen
as I said above I know my idea was madness and I’m just clutching at any idea possible !

Try a make a wish foundatiion or similar
Write a personal story to the agent
Put your story in local paper

Universalsnail · 22/11/2023 16:56

Don't do this. There is a very very high chance you won't get any.

Loramora · 22/11/2023 20:40

I would say don’t do this incase you get stung by scouts who sell fake tickets and it’s all a shambles on the night. My son desperately wanted a whole Man U kit for Christmas but I’m a single mom whose working part time and he had the whole kit last year when me and his dad went halves. I can’t afford it this year to replace a new kit just cause the team have! 😂 so I’ve bought him the ‘training’ jacket (about £70-£80 I think!) and then some unofficial merch like water bottle, football, wooly hat, etc from Amazon. It’s not the same but I’m hoping it’ll do. Could you possibly by merch from the latest tour for her instead - although as I type this I think maybe it might upset her more that she got the merch and not the actual concert! Or is there another band/singer she likes that could be a sort of consultation prize? Or a spa day with treatments that cost about the same as the orginial Taylor tickets would have cost?
