To risk giving DD swift tickets for birthday without having any ???

Hi
I am probably being unreasonable 🤣🙈
DD turning 10 really wants Taylor swift tickets for her birthday.
birthday is very close to Xmas and as much as I tried I didn’t get tickets. Now my issue is the resale tickets are pricey. I would be able to buy resale tickets after Xmas financially but that would be after her birthday too.
with other kids to buy Xmas presents for and one birthday this month already paying that amount this month just isn’t going to happen.
is it too much of a risk to buy her like reveal tickets for her birthday and then find resale tickets later on ???
in guessing there will be resale tickets popping up.
I can’t get them additionally to other birthday presents because it would be completely unfair in the other children !

@Fernand i did look at twickets but it’s hard to know which sites to use that are genuine ! Thanks for that

Just tell her you couldn't get any and get her something else that's nice.

Kids can't always have what they want.

overwhelmed2023 · 22/11/2023 02:14

Ridiculous!

TuesdayQ · 22/11/2023 02:22

This would be insane if your daughter would be anywhere close to as disappointed as I would be if someone told me they'd gifted me tickets for Christmas, only for them to then be unable to do so.
And, somewhat ironically, on the very slim off-chance she wouldn't be that disappointed, I'd really question whether or not it was worth it financially.

MidnightOnceMore · 22/11/2023 02:24

This is a huge price. Don't do this to yourself.

Unless you have very high disposable income, £1200 on a single night is not sensible.

Edit: your update about your DD's health makes it a bit different - can you try to approach a charity perhaps?

Sorrento79 · 22/11/2023 02:26

what if the resale ticket prices go up? This seems a bit much really

TuesdayQ · 22/11/2023 02:28

Hey, I didn't realise your daughter is sick – I'm chronically ill and disabled, and travelling up to Edinburgh for the weekend. I somehow managed to buy both two tickets for the Friday, and then realised I was actually able to also buy disabled tickets for the Saturday night. I'm not sure how we might be able to make it work (and wouldn't ask for any money at all before tickets obviously!!) but I was planning on going both nights, so if you decide you do want to risk finding tickets after Christmas, I'd be willing to give them up to be a back up to exchange up there.

I'll have everything crossed for you!

Numberalphablock · 22/11/2023 02:29

The cost is 100 percent worth it - to the comment about is it fair and would I spend that amount of other kids - I live like they want things at diff times. It’s swings and roundabouts.
I knew I was being unreasonable - just parent guilt keeping me up tonight 🤣

It's not unreasonable for trying to think of any way possible for your poorly little girl to have a moment to forget she's sick: it makes you a great mum.

Numberalphablock · 22/11/2023 02:34

@TuesdayQ i have tried messaging you but I’m unsure if I done it correctly 🤣

@Numberalphablock I will probably get flamed for doing this but I have two tickets to Edinburgh (my sister got us tickets to London so going to sell Edin as less convenient!) I would love to help if I can x

Numberalphablock · 22/11/2023 02:36

@lovinglaughingliving I will try messaging you.

@Numberalphablock Yes, sorry, it does seem to throw another obstacle in when you get through the queue. Sorry for raising hopes.

Numberalphablock · 22/11/2023 02:39

@TheNestedIf don’t apologise thankyou for highlighting there was maybe some :)

There was no way you were getting tickets without a code. You did need it to access the sale. I managed to get some but thousands and thousands of people didn’t, even WITH a code. Nothing to do with being a ‘true swifty ’

Glad the PP may be able to help you out !

TuesdayQ · 22/11/2023 02:43

I will leave this lovely lady to sell you hers, as I was actually really hoping to go to both myself; I just really wanted your little girl to be able to go, too. I'll reply to your DM, though, just in case Ticketmaster is funny about transfers as I bought mine through AXS 🩷

Numberalphablock · 22/11/2023 02:44

@LadyEdithCrawley yep ! I had 4 friends sign up and none of us got codes and ones a huge fan !!!

This would be a terrible idea.

It would also be unwise to believe everything one reads online.

Exactly the opposite actually.

JANEY205 · 22/11/2023 03:41

I’ve seen her twice and she is great but so not worth that much money OP!! Seriously don’t do it! You could take your DD on a fabulous trip just the two of you for the same cost. Think of the hotel, dinner, treats etc you could afford for the same cost as a 2 1/2 hr concert. If the tickets here don’t work out definitely plan something else special but TS is so not worth that money!! I also wonder if her tour will continue after the fan death?!

Oh I see. So now you're saying that the OP is lying! I have been on MN an awful long time. Like the time the man made up his whoever's dying and everyone donated to a page and raised a fortune and it was exposed as fraudulent. A long long long long time.
I am not silly. I have very strong reason to know the OP of this post is genuine and I genuinely want to help.
There will be no exchange of money or tickets unless through proper channels.
