My daughter doesn’t want to come to my wedding…..

Im getting married next week and my daughter has just told me she doesn’t want to come. She’s too anxious to walk in the room.
we are eloping so it will be myself, husband to be and three daughters. One being only 3 months old.
I have tried to reassure her that it’s not a big deal. I have told her she can be in the room without anyone watching her walk in. She can walk in with me or with her sisters. All to which she said she doesn’t want to.
I feel like my day is going to be ruined if she starts on the day.
shes 14 so she’s not a baby. What can I do? Thank you in advance

She basically never mentioned it again and we had the best day/night. She was very excited on the day. We spent the morning/afternoon just us and it was amazing. Everything I could have hoped and more. Thank you for asking x

Wonderful! Reading through this made me grin from ear to ear.

What’s to ruin? You, your partner & 2 or 3 children in a registry office being taken through a legal procedure, while wearing nice clothes.

Let her sit outside on her phone if she wants, then she can join in the celebration afterwards.

come off it, you know getting wed is more than that!

and no way should she be allowed on her phone during the ceremony! The girl is 14 - not 4!

Glad the day went smoothly @mandy20256 Congratulations!

I think she built it up in her head. I was more nervous on the day that she was
Argh, the anticipation anxiety is a real killer. In my previous job, I had this a lot. I loved the office, the people I worked with, the job was boring but fine so no real 'reason' to be anxious. Oh my god there would be days where I was absolutely PARALYSED with fear, stood outside the building unable to move my legs, times I deliberately didn't get off the bus, times where my manager had to physically drag me into the building (this was at my suggestion and we we're good friends, it wasn't a heavy handed dragon!) after 5/10 minutes of sitting at my desk trying not to cry or scream or run away I would be fine.

CBT, learning some deep breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation really helped! The more I bedded in things like PMR into my morning routine the easier it became walking through the doors.

Hope you can both find a away to manage the anxiety. It was a big thing for her, well done.
