There has been a massive rise in 'professional ' dog walkers. Why do the job if you hate dogs 🐕

This is extremely cruel and no wonder people have cameras installed

Horrifying moment dog walker grabs spaniel by the scruff of the neck

EXCLUSIVE: Luke Cobb, 38, was caught on a neighbour's doorbell camera chasing a small black dog behind his home in Brighton on Monday morning.

I saw a story yesterday about a horrible man kicking a cat which later died. So cruel.

There is no aibu. I'd assume all would disagree with cruelty to animals.

Just wondered why people do this. The poor dog is small and terrified

Noelectricheating · 14/11/2023 11:34

Hopefully any animals will be kept far away from him in future.

Our neighbour across the road sees it as an easy source of revenue. She's rubbish at it and the dogs she walks are always out of her control. So much so, she often calls another neighbour to come and help. It's bonkers

iamwhatiam23 · 14/11/2023 11:53

Its an easy way to earn money that doesn't get declared to HMRC!

I assume its not regulated. Easy money then. The lack of control is worrying, any insurance if a dog bites etc.

I understand a dog walker died after being attacked by a dog when walking a very large number of them.

Surely as with any self employment it needs registration with hmrc for self assessment

OP posts:
iamwhatiam23 · 14/11/2023 11:58

@Noelectricheating of course but as with any job that is " self employed" if customers pay in cash then some people don't declare their full earnings to HMRC! I know lots of people who do this!

Mothership4two · 14/11/2023 12:00

Why was he being filmed? Looks like a neighbour took this footage and you have to ask yourself why - sounds like this isn't the only instance of his cruelty. Hopefully will be banned from keeping animals for a long time.

I think it was a ring doorbell

ShirleyPhallus · 14/11/2023 12:04

I’m quite sure all the anti-dog posters will be along soon enough to tell you why it’s somehow the dogs fault

Nuca · 14/11/2023 12:05

@Mothership4two it was filmed on the neighbours cctv apparently, but it does sound like he has previous for these sorts of things. He also lost another persons dog whilst walking it. No trace of the dog has ever been seen and his owners have question whether there was some kind of accident or whether the dog walker did something to the dog and hasn't told the truth. When you search the dog walkers name on Facebook a lot of previous history seems to come up about him

That would be stupid of them. The man is clearly violent and I wouldn't allow him near children either after seeing what he did to a dog.

I see no evidence of the dog 'trying to bite him'. Poor dog.

Dog walkers should be regulated, there's one along my road, sometimes with a woman, they have around 8 dogs in one walk and always leave a trail of shit on the pavement, neither do they pick up on the green area at the end of the road. As far as I am aware there is no abuse though, just littering offences.

So report her.

Mothership4two · 14/11/2023 12:33

I thought it must have been someone filming him because it tracks his movement @Nuca @iamwhatiam23 but I am a complete numpty about CCTV etc obviously!

How awful for the owners of the 'lost' dog. Unless it turns up you would always wonder if he had done something to it.

EvilElsa · 14/11/2023 12:37

Bollocks did it try to bite him. He's a nasty little prick with anger issues. That's why.
I'd be so upset if I'd handed my dog over and discovered this.

Mothership4two · 14/11/2023 12:39

I think people see it as easy money. My SIL told me about her friend and neighbour's dog walker that was supposed to take their dog out for an hour but would walk down the road and literally come back 10 minutes later and she didn't know whether to say anything, we advised her to definitely let friend know ,which she did and friend got a new and a good dog walker and was grateful to SIL for letting her know.

ChipButtiesRule · 14/11/2023 12:44

What an especially nasty, evil little shit.

Of course, it appears he was quite happy to use videos of the spaniel to help promote his crappy little business on SM (https://twitter.com/harveyswalks?lang=ar-x-fm). But not happy to resist the 'urge' to deliberately catch, lift and slam him into a wall (twice).

Suspect he's not that great to humans either.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 14/11/2023 12:46

What an absolute arse of a man.

Mothership4two · 14/11/2023 12:53

Yes he didn't lash out in anger @EvilElsa he thought about what he was going to do and did it.

Getting bitten is a possibility in his chosen business so if he couldn't cope with it he shouldn't be looking after people's pets. I used to work in a job where being bitten or hit by children was a high possibility and you have to take that into consideration, accept it and deal with it appropriately if it happens. You absolutely cannot retaliate - not that most decent/normal people would want to!

MonumentalLentil · 14/11/2023 13:02

Well, now he has messed up the dog walking business he will need to find a job, if anyone will take him on.

Hopefully people will become more careful about where they farm their pets out too. There are some decent dog walkers but many see it as a way to make easy money and don't care about the animals.

tescocreditcard · 14/11/2023 13:12

Ring doorbells go on front doors and this was obviously filmed from above so it's not a ring doorbell.

If I had to guess I'd say the neighbour had witnessed this before and decided to be ready to take footage again if necessary.

Either way / he wont get work now.

AngelicInnocent · 14/11/2023 13:19

I work in this industry (I'm not a dog walker though) and would stress to anyone that if you are using a dog walker you want to see their business insurance and DBS check. Obviously they are entering people's homes, they can get a DBS check organised through the council. Also insurance, not just for injury to your dog, if they are walking your dog without proper insurance, your dog runs into the road and causes an accident (car swerves and hits another car), you are responsible for every penny of repairs and injury compensation etc.

Lohan7992 · 21/12/2023 18:15

This was my ring security system that it was captured on. He lives about 5 doors down, the dog escaped and walked up the road and along my drive where we caught the footage as it picks up any motion outside my property. We were shocked to see this happen and uploaded it to Facebook to find out who it was, once I had all the information I reported it to the RSPCA then the police got involved. The daily mail edited the footage so that the video was focused on him and the dog. We definitely weren’t standing there filming it from our side window as I’m sure if we had caught him doing it, he wouldn’t have left that drive in one piece.
