Could they not just spell it normally?

So the next storm is on its way. But really, what is wrong with calling it Debbie or Deborah. Why do they have to make the storm sound chavvy with its Debi spelling?

Snobbish people are always dim by definition

Not sure this is strictly true.

Yabu to use the word chavvy.
It's derogatory and sneering.

I'm not sure I would take it as a compliment to have a devastating storm named after me. If indeed Debi was named after Debi Garft.

A star or a rose bush named after me? Great!
A storm? Not so much!

I have one of those names that is rare as hens teeth.
I would love anything like this named after me.

I guess at my advanced age I should become a super storm predictor or meteorologist or the like and then wait a long time and then get a storm named after me. Not sure I've got enough years left in me to do that.
