To think Michael Gove wasn’t just out for a stroll through Victoria station last night

So Michael Gove just ‘happened’ to be strolling through Victoria station last night right through the middle of a pro- palestine sit in 🙄 How fucking stupid do they think people are?

Deflects nicely from Suella & right wing Tommy Robinson mob doesn’t it. The palestine March was mostly peaceful given the huge numbers but you always get a few dickheads on any March. The right wing mob however we’re fighting with police at the cenotaph. The state of this country.

@kirbykirby there wasn’t loads of violence at the big March. That was the far right March at the cenotaph- nearly all the arrests were at the so called ‘counter’ demo. Yes there were horrible signs though.

Suella, our actual Home Secretary caused this. Stirred up hate and problems. Given the large volume of people on the big March, there was very little actual trouble.

Imagine the headlines the so-called peaceful protesters could have denied him if they’d been genuinely peaceful.

you seem quite happy to condone threatening and intimidating behavior as long as it’s done by people you approve of, for reasons you approve of.

So you're saying fighting with police is abhorrent but attacking an MP who is not charged with maintaining public order is totally fine?

Funny how everyone was pro-Israel until it became a matter of left vs right and then half the left suddenly switched sides because they'd rather take pot shots at the right than support a cause they claimed they believed in last week.

Like they always do.

Hotchocolatemousse · 12/11/2023 11:21

Suella Braverman has done a Trump January 6 2021 Capitol Hill attack dogwhistle tactic on this hasn't she? She deliberately sent the dogwhistle message out to the right wing mob and they all descended on London.

So now she'll say that she needs to curtail the tight to protest even further because of the anti social elements. And then you get Gove walking through Victoria as of that's an absolutely normal thing to do in the middle of a protest. They must think we're thick.

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost73 · 12/11/2023 11:22

It was totally in the Daily Mails interest to create a distraction as they did their level best to encourage the far right to turn up yesterday, and it back fired. Desperate and transparent stuff. How many normal folks could have avoided being victims of real crimes in London last night, whilst Gove wasted thin on the ground police for his PR attempt?

@Throwhandsupintheair absolutely. And it’s very naive of anyone to think otherwise. This is a far right government.

Quite possible that he was just passing through, would not have been reported though were he not a former journalist whose ex-wife writes for The Paper that Supported the Blackshirts.

are you blaming the victim there ? skirt too short, that type of thing ?

there is no excuse, end of story, all these so called "peaceful" protests supporting terrorist and hostage takers should be banned

People have the right to protest, especially against genocide.

Yes why a mob at all if peaceful as claimed

And agree on the condoning threatening behaviour part

Let's take his word that he was coming back from his constituency, Surrey Heath. He is a senior member of the Government travelling back into London during a busy demonstration and Victoria station would be full of protestors travelling home.
If didn't want to be recognised, surely he would have made different travel plans?

I would imagine travelling 30 miles between your constituency and London home is expensable and publicly recognisable figures in a Gov trailing very badly in the polls are advised it's better to travel by cab or Uber.

Travelling on public transport on the day of a protest which has been on the news all week and this requiring 20 police officers to protect you is 1,000% a political stunt.

Peablockfeathers · 12/11/2023 11:27

I don't think it's wild that he walked through one of the Londons busiest stations. The ridiculous part is that it made the front page.

SomeCatFromJapan · 12/11/2023 11:27

I realise that according to many on MN Tory MPs are fair game, but in reality he, and anyone else, should have the right to go about their business without being attacked and abused, and suggesting that people should avoid certain areas or it's their own fault is quite a dangerous road to go down.

Noicant · 12/11/2023 11:28

He should be able to walk wherever he wants. Think thats a basic expectation most of us have. You don’t have to like Gove to think that.

ItsFunToBeAVampire · 12/11/2023 11:32

It's interesting how it's ok to "jostle" people who you don't like, isn't it? It was obviously his fault for being there, not the "peaceful protesters" doing the jostling.

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost73 · 12/11/2023 11:33

Yes why a mob at all if peaceful as claimed because that’s the media narrative. Suella whipped up and dog whistled the far right & then it backfired on her as they were the ones kicking off.

There is a race element as well. When it was the Notting Hill Carnival people were calling for it to be cancelled because of violence. But no one ever calls for Glastonbury to be cancelled even though there is similar levels of violence. There are stereotypes that a lot of non white people are drug dealer. Which is not true but no one mentions those who consume it e.g. MPS, bankers etc mostly white why do they never get the same backlash?

Before Palestine the same people say racism is made up e.g. black people are race baiters or how Islamophobia does not exist. And how everything is turning "woke." Now they are pretending to care about Jews to do the same thing they say others do "virtue signal." How often have they spoken about Palestinian/Israel before 7th October 2023? This has gone on for such a long time human right violations but we never heard the same people voice their concern then. You have to be against both 7th October 2023 and the constant human right violations in Palestine that are well documented. Anyone now challenging the idea that innocent civilians are dying in Gaza is branded Pro Hamas. People using labels for the sake of it.

"I know, why don't I walk directly through a Pro-Palestinian sit-in protest ...that will be a totally safe and normal thing to do on a Saturday night’

Regardless of why he was there the, the other's still choose to misbehavior, otherwise its considered victim blaming

Westfacing · 12/11/2023 11:36

I heard that he had been in a ministerial car but had to abandon it due to traffic/crowds - sounds an unlikely thing to do.

My friend was unavoidably at Victoria station last night trying to exit and walk home - she was walking against the oncoming crowd and it took a long time. She said it was all very peaceful but she found it hard work battling to get down Buckingham Palace Road.

As for The Mail - what a stupid and non-representative front page, considering the disgraceful behaviour of the Tommy Robinson mob.

The nerve of Cruella standing at the cenotaph today as if butter wouldn’t melt, she’s got some front. Utterly evil with a self-hating complex.

Your link says pro Palestinian mob

The Guardian too has same headline

Everythingnotsavedwillbelost73 · 12/11/2023 11:42

@Alyosha yes of course everyone has the right to go about their business. But we all also have the right to live in a country where the actual Home Secretary isn’t stirring racial tensions & whipping up hate. It’s all on her.

There were families with young kids at that match yesterday & she encouraged a hate mob of violent far right extremists to pursue them.

The met police did an impressive job yesterday keeping it all under constrol.

Michael Gove has the air of a coked up megalomaniac.

It's not a peaceful protest if you're attacking people. Too any folks using this war to abuse Jewish and Muslim folks, and just cause aggro in general. Lock all the racists and xenophobes up.

Ceasefire now.

Oh yes... so another supporter of the terrorists murdering pregnant Israeli women cutting open their abdomens and beheading foetuses???

Have you not seen the abhorrent photos released by those terrorists Hamas on social media?

Michael Gove has the right to walk peaceably wherever he wishes.

And poppy sellers have the right not to be harassed when quietly sitting selling poppies for charity.
A charity nonetheless that supports all Veterans irrespective of colour or creed.
Never forget it was not just white christian people that gave their lives to protect the freedoms the residents of this country now enjoy. It was all races and religions that fought for our freedom.
