Hot on the heals of the news that Mars are discontinuing the Dark Chocolate Bounty, Nestle have confirmed they are discontinuing Caramac.

I’m in confectionary mourning.

I still mourn the loss of Galaxy Truffles in boxes/tins/tubs of Celebrations. Replaced with a Twix...a bloody Twix?!?!

GrandTheftWalrus · 08/11/2023 15:08

When I was wee I used to get a caramac and a twist'n'squeeze from the ice cream van. That was about 30 years ago. Can't remember the last time I had one, think I'll grab one before they go.

VimtoVimto · 08/11/2023 15:19

I was gutted about dark chocolate bounty, but please not Caramac. I think the problem is that it’s not easily available so demand falls etc.

Chlorinara · 08/11/2023 15:26

I should be gutted but in truth I haven't bought one for years, so it's partly my fault.

I am still getting over Pyramints being discontinued in about 1990.

CurlewKate · 08/11/2023 15:39

It's the only chocolate type thing dp can eat. Our children are dashing round buying up all the ones they can find to give him for Christmas!

Northernsouloldies · 08/11/2023 15:53

Dark bounty are ace... Caramac I hated even as a kid disgustingly sweet.

CanIPetThatDawg · 08/11/2023 18:34

I think it's for the best. Seeing as it tastes rank.

Caramilk is also gross.

Pyramints are the holy grail of lost chocolate.

Under appreciated in their time, we can now look back with wiser, older eyes, and see their value.

If they were reintroduced it would be a great, great day.

FGS, is this a plot to stop me eating chocolate altogether? I suppose it'll be good for my waistline, but I love dark chocolate Bounty and caramac.

Mind you, I've never really got over the loss of dark chocolate Walnut Whip 😭

Jellykat · 08/11/2023 18:53

Caramac hasnt tasted like Caramac for years.. its all 'lardy' now.
I used to love it, but wouldnt buy it these days!

SwedishEdith · 08/11/2023 18:56

Didn't Caramac disappear for a while about 25 years ago? I'm sure I remember it coming back. I'd still love a mint cracknel or a coffee walnut whip.

I was told on a sensory course (emotional needs) that caramac choc was very close in flavour tones to breast milk (or something similar)which is why people often have an emotional link to it! Not sure how true that is, but it's a 'fact' that has stuck with me!

Oo, that sort of makes some sort of sense as I always associate the colour with breast fed baby poo.

TicketyBoo11 · 08/11/2023 19:05

First Topic now Caramac..fucking disgrace. 😞

Gingerkittykat · 08/11/2023 19:18

I love caramac but hardly anywhere sold it so no wonder sales are down.

I went onto Tesco to put caramac on my shopping order but all the search did was show the abomination that is caramilk.

They are also getting rid of animal bars which I remeber with great fondness from my childhood.

FanSpamTastic · 08/11/2023 19:26

Milky Bar have started doing a caramel version called Milky Bar Gold which is lush and should satisfy the caramac hole.

Helendegenerate · 08/11/2023 19:34

As a little girl my grandma used to bring me a large bar of Caramac every time she'd visit. I hated the stuff but never dared tell her. The lad next door always got it 😁

Dark chocolate Bounties on the other hand were and still are a firm favourite of mine.

Each to their own! 😉

Cadbury’s Caramilk is exactly the same

No it isn't!

This is sad news indeed.

Whiteday · 08/11/2023 20:38

It's a total travesty!!

Disorganisedmess2023 · 08/11/2023 21:00

I think these taste the same, just softer/meltier.

Not Caramac!!!!

Sacrilege to say this!

HarlanPepper · 09/11/2023 05:31

Caramac has changed a lot over the years. I had a bar recently and it's nothing like I remember. The main ingredient is now palm oil, which explains it. I'm not sad it's going.

Interesting! Caramac is made with condensed milk. As are Werther's Original Caramelts, which are far superior. Aldi usually has them.

Yes, I'm sure it did, and years later was back by popular demand.

Autiebibliophile · 09/11/2023 06:27

I love caramac . Caramilk is too chunky and sickly sweet
