I’m bored to tears of women being constantly told to ‘be kind’ to men in dresses and shit lipstick.

Trans flags do not need to be anywhere near children’s toys. It’s not ‘unkind’ to think so.

Thank you. I think people are constantly worried that they can't say what they think, in fears of not being politically correct.

I don't think spite comes into it. Bigotry is certainly an apt word; the main issues being profound levels of ignorance, and much judgement.

It's a challenging issue to understand from the outside. I've done much soul searching and continue to do so. I only hope (rather than expect) the same can be said for you.

Well, as I say, I sincerely hope you're right and I'm wrong. Because if I'm right, the personal, social and political fallout will be a nightmare. So fingers crossed it's all fine.

The rest of them were all regular animal squishmallow stickers. And a couple of Halloween ones (with horns, wings etc)
It seemed VERY out of place and a bit strange to me as it was definitely the odd one out.
The rainbow colours in the background, fine.. but the trans pride flag in the middle... not okay for me.
Of course I accept they exist, just doesn't need to be pushed onto children. A child wouldn't need this sticker.
An adult however may want one, and it is a cute sticker. Just not for kids

I grew up in an environment where parents would have lost their shit over the Halloween stickers. It was as ridiculous as this.

Hereforthebunfights · 07/11/2023 12:19

That's a big stretch from @Tandora s first comment.

Not really, if you are happy to endorse/wave/promote the current iteration of the progress flag you are essentially accepting the above consequences.

gotomomo · 07/11/2023 12:23

Those toys are collectibles more aimed at teens into anime anyway.

Trans activism = misogyny. It is anti woman. It seeks to erode the boundaries of children, it is anti safeguarding, it is anti consent.

The pride flag used to be a beautiful thing. Trans activism has highjacked it.

@DistrictAndCircle to be fair to OP the cats belly really is the LGBTQIA+ flag (google it)

my suspicions are the OP has either mistakenly bought a special edition pack or they are deliberately stirring up shit. Hard to know without seeing the packet

Yes the middle is what I am talking about really, I should have been more clear. Apologies.
This was a pack of squishmallow stickers bought from Temu, so not squishmallow branded, but exactly the same. A pack of 50. Others were plain animals, a couple of Halloween ones and an elf. It came in a plain plastic bag with a barcode on it, as you'd expect from Temu or AliExpress etc.
I'm not trying to cause an issue at all. I did just find this extremely odd

Saudi banned all rainbows on children's toys didn't they, perhaps you should petition your MP to do that Hmm

Rainbows are absolutely not the issue. It's the blatant flag in the middle of the cat which includes the trans flag

FFS it’s a cat with a rainbow design behind it. Get over it and stop being homophobic!

Not homophobic. It's not the rainbow in the back that's the problem. It is the trans flag in the middle

I do think it's weird, unless the packet was specifically pride themed. I always assumed that the rainbow is squishmellows was a generic child sky rainbow, not an LGBT rainbow. Maybe someone in design team got confused! Or maybe the flag is so normalised and de-politicised that it's the equivalent of animals with the peace symbol in the 90s.

To the people saying "it's just a cat and a rainbow FFS" - the cat's tummy is clearly displaying the intersectionality part of the new "progressive" pride flag (the white, pink and blue trans flag, and the browns and black for different races) in a triangle that cuts into the rainbow on the left. Unless you think that the rainbow in the sky is white, pink and brown, and unless you think that your kids wouldn't notice (mine would), it's not "just a rainbow". Obviously there will be many people who are happy to explain to their kids what it actually is, just as I am happy to explain to my child what the german and italian flags stand for. But it's disingenuous to pretend that there is NOTHING TO SEE HERE. There is something to see, it's not just a cat and a rainbow.

This is exactly what I am saying. Thank you.

Honestly just this one.
The rest were plain animal squishmallows and a couple of Halloween ones. Oh.. and an elf.

OP, I've just bought a pack of these from Amazon. I'm just going to open them now to check and see what variety I have.

To the person saying these are aimed at teens into Anime, they really aren't. There are loads of little kids currently collecting them due to them being the current Happy Meal toy.

timeforacoffeebreak · 07/11/2023 12:29

CostelloJones · 07/11/2023 11:00

OP where did you get the stickers? Because I just found the same one in a multipack of random ones on Temu. They just give you a certain amount at a random selection. Being mass produced cheap tat from China I can assume they probably aren’t paying attention to any sort of political affiliation and purely the profit.

and looking it up, squishmallows seem to do a lot in the way of supporting the LGBT community with special characters/editions of things… so perhaps if you feel that strongly this is a brand you might not want to affiliate with any longer.

Yes it was from Temu! And upon looking at the listing the sticker IS there, but cleverly hidden behind/ amongst the other stickers so it is easily lost / looked over whilst looking at others I guess. And it is not included in the picture displaying them all one by one.

RinklyRomaine · 07/11/2023 12:30

Anyone who think these things are solely about teaching children kindness & inclusion has not dug into this.

Here is the trans beaver with mastectomy scars from Blue's Clues, a show my 3yo is too old for. A beaver. In a parade celebrating slicing her breasts off. In a program aimed at toddlers.

No issues with it anywhere else apart from on children's things.

lilyblue5 · 07/11/2023 12:31

Not legitimate stickers then?

itsfinallytime · 07/11/2023 12:31

@Tandora

Your reluctance to answer my questions makes me think that the 'right side of history' movement isn't too interested in the impact on female children.

Surely I'm wrong?

Thelnebriati · 07/11/2023 12:33

So there you have it - ask if something is suitable for children, get called 'transphobic'.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 07/11/2023 12:33

timeforacoffeebreak · 07/11/2023 12:13

It's not the colours really. It's the part in the middle of the cat. Not the rainbow colours

Yes I know, that's what I meant by the other colours. A bit of creative re-interpretation. Don't give anyone a monopoly on what the symbols mean.

Brainwashing starts with small things, so a trans flag on some toys may seem like nothing to some, but it’s really fucking creepy when you realise what’s happening to kids.

Trans ideology is anything but kind and compassionate. It damages women, kids, particularly autistic ones and it’s homophobic.

This, 100%.
I’ve long been a supporter of gay rights and while I’d find it a bit odd to have a pride sticker in a toy aimed at young children I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

People with genuine body dismorphia require sympathy and support.

But trans ideology is abhorrent, misogynistic, homophobic (particularly lesbophobic) and harmful to children.

It is a dogma that reinforces regressive stereotypes and says if a boy likes ballet and pink he must really be a girl so he should be maimed and sterilised. No, he’s just a boy who likes pink and ballet ffs!

The level of ignorance and delusion on here is shocking.
