Nah it's called being a decent person on the right side of history.

ChimpyChops · 07/11/2023 12:07

Ah, just saw the cats tummy properly. I apologise.

Still not sure I'd get upset about it. But I think it opens up a discussion or just throw it away.

TrainedByCats · 07/11/2023 12:07

YANBU
The take-over of the pride flag by gender ideology perpetuates homophobia, children should not be encouraged to be homophobic

Interesting.

So what about the harms to female children Tandora?

If you are so confident you are on the right side of history please explain the benefits to female children, particularly with reference to them -

Having to include male children who identify as trans in their single sex spaces such as toilets, dormitories on school residentials, changing rooms and sports?

How does the 'right side of history' benefit female children?

Nah it's called being a decent person on the right side of history.

Well I hope it turns out to be true and that everyone who disagrees with you is only doing so out of spite and bigotry. Otherwise, you'll have some soul searching to do when faced with the consequences of this movement.

Caerulea · 07/11/2023 12:08

I love the Pride flag! I hate that pride flag. There are a whole bunch of individual flags under the pride banner, the original flag should never have been but butchered with just one particular example - that made it political (and ugly, sorry 🤷🏼‍♀️).

The original is beautiful, balanced & inclusive as was it's meaning. This new one isn't at all even just from a design perspective!

For that reason it pisses me off every time I see it cos it doesn't represent inclusivity at all, anymore, it represents the absolute domination of everything by one faction of the community.

And believe it or not - it's perfectly possible to think the above & not be transphobic!

Dizzy1994 · 07/11/2023 12:09

Its entirely wrong. For the people saying oh its just a rainbow - the non binary flag is also there.

Children are children. They should be left as such and not pulled into anything political

wensleywhale · 07/11/2023 12:12

We'll see about that.

Clinics are already being shut down because they're harmful. Evidence suggests you're completely wrong.

WandaWonder · 07/11/2023 10:18

I see a rainbow and a cat, I wonder if people are deliberately trying to find things to have tantrums over

No honestly, I wouldn't deliberately try to find an issue. Not homophobic or transphobic in the slightest. It's the middle of the cat really, not the rainbow in the background.
For adults, fine, of course. Not for little kids

Well if the children in the States left scared, disabled and infertile with irreversible damage , lost scholarships and injuries due to competing with males, and the uk also housing male rapists in women's prisons, having males run rape crisis centres, haven't been enough to change their minds so far i doubt there's anything that will. Too far down the rabbit hole.

I don't think spite comes into it. Bigotry is certainly an apt word; the main issues being profound levels of ignorance, and much judgement.

It's a challenging issue to understand from the outside. I've done much soul searching and continue to do so. I only hope (rather than expect) the same can be said for you.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 07/11/2023 10:23

The colours are just colours unless the kids are told otherwise. Rainbow mythology didn't originate with gay pride. If you like, you can tell your DC about Noah's Ark and that the rainbow symbolises God's promise to the world, and the other colours are a modern addition to symbolise all God's people.

It can be what you make of it.

It's not the colours really. It's the part in the middle of the cat. Not the rainbow colours

Laughing at the idea that the OP bought these for herself, and has come to mumsnet to complain about her own stickers.

Several years ago I would not have raised an eyebrow. Sadly trans activism has since morphed into a borderline cult and a small scratch beneath the sparkly 'be kind' rainbows reveals a very ugly intolerant ideology that should not be anywhere near kids.

Thank you. I do agree. The pride flag as it used to be I have no issue with. The trans pride has become political and I don't think it has a place with children either

Um no it really doesn't.
The Tavistock was a terrible service and is being dissolved. We can only wait to see what replaces it, but I don't have hopes it will be much better, because people are far more interested in their own narrow pre-judgements than they are in evidence.

Nah it's called being a decent person on the right side of history.

Are you really so happy to give away your single sex spaces (toilets, changing rooms, DV and rape shelters), remove fairness in women's sports, hand over scholarships and awards to men who demand constant validation because they 'feel' like they are women? Is that the right side of history?

itsfinallytime · 07/11/2023 12:18

@Tandora

Are you going to answer my questions about the impact of 'the right side of history' on female children or are you going to ignore it?

CostelloJones · 07/11/2023 10:39

are you certain they aren’t “special edition” ones? They may be supposed to be LGBT+ ones - some adults like squishmallows too. Hard to tell without seeing the rest of the pack.

I suspect the only reason a child under 10ish would think it was a gay/trans sticker anyway is if someone actually pointed that out… otherwise it just looks like a colourful sticker?

I honestly think sometimes people that make the biggest fuss about LGBT being “everywhere” is the bigoted people. Most people just accept gay/trans people exist, and carry on with their own lives… but this is MN after all so transphobia dressed up as feminism seems to be the norm.

The rest of them were all regular animal squishmallow stickers. And a couple of Halloween ones (with horns, wings etc)
It seemed VERY out of place and a bit strange to me as it was definitely the odd one out.
The rainbow colours in the background, fine.. but the trans pride flag in the middle... not okay for me.
Of course I accept they exist, just doesn't need to be pushed onto children. A child wouldn't need this sticker.
An adult however may want one, and it is a cute sticker. Just not for kids

That's a big stretch from @Tandora s first comment.

Well yes they did completey ignore evidence that there was a high percentage of ND children/children with ASD, gay children , children of homophobic parents and many who had suffered trauma/abuse/sexual abuse in the cohort of children they were dealing with.

It’s a cat and a rainbow.

There’s literally a rainbow in the sky as I type this, and yet I’m not marching off down to my kids’ school to demand that they close all the curtains in case my DD comes home telling me she’s a trans man.

Not the rainbow that was a problem for me. It's the trans pride flag in the middle. It's become a symbol of something other than what it is meant to represent and I don't think it should be on a kids sticker

May I interest the be kind posters in a book:

Under the Duvet of Darkness Volume Two Lurking Merkins: Poems written by angry women for angry women because WOMEN WON'T WHEESHT: 2 amzn.eu/d/57qQbB5

An excellent read for anyone who durant understand the issues surrounding the erasure of women and girls along with their rights under the guise of inclusion and kindness.

Ignore and wail bigot at even intervals.

Interested to know what @Tandora would like to see replacing the Tavistock.
Children should not be treated for gender stuff with drugs and surgeries. I would welcome a clinic for children that offered mental health support though.

JeezWhatNext · 07/11/2023 10:46

I think it depends what other stickers there are. If there are other ideologies on offer then I guess it’s ok but odd.

Honestly just this one.
The rest were plain animal squishmallows and a couple of Halloween ones. Oh.. and an elf.
