Im not depressed, or desperately unhappy maybe just a bit meh alot of the time but on the other hand grateful for what i have.

But i feel like life is passing me by and i want to make more out of it.

What have you done for yourself to make your life better or just more productive.

I've always made overpayments on my mortgage. It will help me massively next year as if I can pay it off if I get a big bonus (I've worked bloody hard for it) then I will be mortgage free at 44.

It's a small three bed terrace but it will be mine free and clear!

Moved from a totally car-dependent city to a 15-minute city and walk everywhere, or take transit. We do still have a car but only fill the tank once every six weeks or so.

I don't drive (although that's a regret but at least no huge payments for car, petrol, MOT's etc) I don't drink, am overweight but only have one meal per day so maybe I'm just meant to be chunky. No significant other & don't want one. Am retired. Life is EASY. If I want to sit around in my nightie until 11am checking emails & facebook, who's going to stop me? Don't always answer the phone - usually scammers anyway!
There are no medals for Doing the Right Thing. Do what you want to do! Be happy!

Changed a boring 20 year + desk job to join a completely different sector and now no 2 days are the same, keeps me on my toes and brain active + huge payrise. Learnt to say yes to things outside my comfort zone, think heights..for now! And learnt to say no to people and things I simply have no interest in. Got rid of toxic people in my life but also tied to 3 who I love dearly, so am learning to except them and our 'differences'.
Reading, walking in nature and learning how to just 'be' and not feel guilty for not having some me time, ie: answering calls, messages, emails straight away. Every day to give yourself 3, or more, positives, no matter how small, some of you might be rolling the irises but in my darkest 2 years, this has really helped and given me a better look on life ... try it

It's amazing how much saying "yes" can transform your life. DH can be saying no before I've even finished a sentence. We've talked about this and the impact it has on me. He has surprised me tonight with a gift for an experience I've been wanting to share with him for a while.

But you also have to say no. Boundary setting takes practice but is vital.

I started to listen to audiobooks. It sounds silly but I used to feel a bit stressed that I never had time to read, and I love reading, but I bought some wireless headphones and joined the library and audible and I love it!

I listen while I walk, do housework, drive, shop, everything. It makes mundane jobs pass more easily and gives my brain something to focus on - it's honestly helped my stress levels. I listen to books and podcasts, there are so many to choose from and I'm never bored.

This is exactly me. Best thing I've done for myself. Excellent book, brilliant narrator, bliss.

Thanks everyone who's contributed, I've been jotting down ideas based on your input.

For me -
Dropped a day at work (now on 4 days / week)

Got serious about saving money with a view to retirement and therefore the sense of freedom rather than "I have to work till I drop"

21 years quit a heavy smoking habit, enriched my Health (no more wheezy coughing first thing in mornings) & put me in a better position for motherhood following year (a challenging but satisfying role).

3 years ago I took up running through the c25k programme with my local running club. Since ‘graduation’ c25k I’ve joined the club & Run this distance & further regularly, making friends & enjoying chats along the runs, accumulating in running my first 1/2 marathon in an official race just a month ago, and hope to run more in the future - makes me feel proud/fit & happy, not bad for a woman in her late 50s 😄

Got a degree, MA and 2 post grad qualifications. I'm neatly finished the second and then will hopefully get my dream job. I've really found myself again after having 3 children.
