To take DD back to a&e?

NC. DD 20 has clot on the right lung which was diagnosed 6 weeks and has been on thinners for. On Wednesday, she ended up back in a&e due to having chest pain that was in her upper back too . DR said bloods were fine and chest x ray was clear, but when listening to her heart he heard a systolic heart murmur. DR said it was probably new and she had her heart checked out numerous times when clot first came. He wrote to GP for them to investigate. She has a GP call Monday. However, tonight she says the pain is really bad again she has rang 111 and waiting for call back but should I just take her back to a&e. She said the pain is worse but hesitant to go back to a&e as unsure what they will find as on weds xray clear and blood tests fine.

Yes take, it may be an emergency.

MrsDrudge · 27/10/2023 19:42

Go back to A&E- don’t take any risks with chest pain or past history of clots.

greenacrylicpaint · 27/10/2023 19:43

go to a&e

previous blood clots unfortunately means higher risk for further ones.

remember to take power bank & charging cable

all the best!

lulubea414 · 27/10/2023 19:45

She is still on thinners so surely can't be another clot or am I being ignorant in thinking that thinners stop clots?

Definitely get her seen asap. You won’t regret getting her checked out to find out everything’s okay.

TheShellBeach · 27/10/2023 19:46

You can still get them.
She needs to go back urgently.

Ladyj84 · 27/10/2023 19:47

Don't take chances with clots go a&e

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 27/10/2023 19:47

Go to A&E. I wouldn't hesitate if it were me.

Ladyj84 · 27/10/2023 19:47

Oh an sorry clots can move and split regardless of thinners

tenpoundpombear · 27/10/2023 19:50

Yes take her. Asap. If it's nothing then it's nothing but if it's something then she needs medical attention and she won't get that at home waiting for 111 to call back to inevitably say go to a&e.

StanhopeRdSister · 27/10/2023 19:52

Please don't hesitate and take her in.

RandomForest · 27/10/2023 19:53

Go now.

Hope she's ok.

x

lulubea414 · 27/10/2023 19:53

She's gone in with DH. Only 10 min drive from a&e. She is worried they will think she is silly as she has been quite a few times recently with the clot. I said it's their job and not to worry. On Wednesday DR thought new murmur could have been caused by clot. Would a murmur give her chest pain though??

Go, better to be safe.

scaredofff · 27/10/2023 19:56

She's much better to be seen. You're not wrong in sending her to get checked out

Mirabai · 27/10/2023 20:13

Good luck OP I hope she’s ok.

Starlightstarbright2 · 27/10/2023 20:16

New or worsening chest pain should always be investigated . Hope all is fine but better to know

Fuckitydoodah · 27/10/2023 20:18

She's doing the right thing. I don't know much about clots, but I can't imagine any A&E staff thinking She's wasting their time with her recent medical history, and now being in pain.

Hope everything is OK and she'd home soon with the all clear 🤞

Choconuttolata · 27/10/2023 20:23

Definitely take her especially with increased pain. DH had multiple blood clots on the lung that were not evident on x-ray they only showed on CT. He also was on blood thinners for months as he originally had a DVT that he was given them for them the clots moved. He has had scares since stopping the blood thinners and they always take it seriously at A&E because of his history.

I’m not medical but my PE caused aortic dilation, which could lead to dissection

Allinadayswork80 · 27/10/2023 20:27

Glad she’s gone in, good call. Hope everything is ok and it IS nothing - best case scenario. You can’t be too careful and things can get missed. You’d regret not sending her and something happening more than sending her and it being fine x

Beseen22 · 27/10/2023 20:45

There's not a single nurse or doctor who would think she was a time-waster or silly for going in with new chest pain and her history of PE. I'm so glad she has gone in.

lulubea414 · 27/10/2023 20:56

She's been triaged waiting for dr. She's had ecg and more bloods. Currently 6 hour max wait for doctor😩 ☹️ but hopefully they'll get to her quicker. Thanks everyone for well wishes.

I’m glad she’s gone back op. I hope it turns out to be nothing but just wanted to say clots don’t always show up on a x-ray so see if she can preferably get a ct scan. I hope she’s ok

Thanks. They have said they're not sure whether they will ct again and not sure whether it will show anything new. He clotting test came back normal so they think it probably isn't a new clot.
