Actually I don't think I am but can we stop all the Cod challenge threads now. No one can tell who is for real and who isn't and it is such a waste of time replying to threads that aren't real

seems to be that the posters who most likely to cry troll are the ones who are happy to start to start challenge threads.

Not everyone is as cynical.

OracleInaCoracle · 09/03/2008 18:28

not as bitchy as the weekly threads aimed at scuttlebuggers/sanctuary/teashop.

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2008 18:29

I think it will all blow over
it seems like a small thing to make a huge deal out of

NaughtyNigel · 09/03/2008 18:29

Ladies - chill
cod's challenge is supposed to be fun.a little lighthearted amusement to while away the dullness of normal life.
has to be said - most challenge posts are blatently transparent and if not
THE GOOD BIT
whoever posts real advice to anyone just proves what a nice place mumsnet really is.
This has been proved by real troll posts (the beaten woman with the premature baby springs to mind) i among others was so worried and sad - but when it turns out to be fake - instead of getting all high and mighty - can't we just congratulate ourselves for showing a little niceness.
and anyone new this week will probably pick up on what is going on fairly quickly. so instead of trying to weed out the fake threads just post what advice/sugestions/chat as you normally would.
IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER.

REMEMBER FUN FUN FUN all the way.

NaughtyNigel · 09/03/2008 18:29

and i don't think i belong in a clique - or can i have one all of my own?

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2008 18:30

but if you don't like bitchy behaviour, why defend it on here?

this thread contains many personal attacks on MN posters - I don't think the OP intended this, but this thread is unpleasant and definitely divisive

OracleInaCoracle · 09/03/2008 18:32

im not bitching, or defending it, im saying that i dont like the challenge or what it stands for.

blueshoes · 09/03/2008 18:32

kerrymum, what DO you have to do to get reported? Enlighten please.

catinthehat · 09/03/2008 18:32

I love that Sycophant word - it raises so many well deserved hackles.
Let's all dedicate a few silent moment to spotting (and remembering for the future) the sycophants on this thread.
Make sure you don't name names.

ooh, FanZ can you report me for my "Cod's sycophants" comment? I haven't achieved that one in the challenge yet

I think it's against the ethos of MN

and I think if anyone, apart from cod, had started it .. then all the namechangers would have been given rather shorter shrift.

Unfortunately I really enjoy cod, and I also enjoy most of her compadres .. in fact I believe I'm probably part of the Cod Clique

but I have to say that the actual challenge isn't a game in the great history of Cod's games .. like 'bat'ing people ... at least the people who get it monumentally wrong and post stuff that pulls people in rather than entertains are just out of order

baaababa baaaa baaaaaaaa

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 09/03/2008 18:35

When I started the fame thread I didn't even know what cod's challenge was. Honestly.

I've done a fair few joke threads over the years but they have all been about lighthearted subjects. "DH" having sex with the garlic press and the enjoying erotica with the knife sharpener was about as serious as I've got.. but some people always give serious sympathetic advice which I do feel a bit guilty about and so usally add something outrageous to make it more obvious that it's actually not serious.

It is just a joke tho.. you have to have jokes in life don't you.. if you can't laugh there's not much point in carrying on I always thing! Sorry for any offence though seriously. I'm just a saddo for whom Mumsnet is her social life.. pity me

WanderingTrooley · 09/03/2008 18:35

General comment to no one in particular:

if anyone starts a dodgy thread, surely better to take issue with them personally, and their interpretation of the challenge, than blame the challenge itself? It's a bit of a larf, that's all.

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2008 18:36

oh Dior I don;t mean everyone on this thread is bitching

but there have been some very nasty comments here

(Also.. I put the stainless steel fetish in Development & Behaviour, because I didn't think it ought to go in Relationships.. so if I have to be seen as a troll, can I be as a troll with a heart? )

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 09/03/2008 18:37

I definitely did not F&Z. I just hate how some threads aren't immediately obvious which are the challenge ones and I don't wish to waste my time for nothing, nor do I want to miss an opportunity to try and help someone.

OP posts:
blueshoes · 09/03/2008 18:37

Kerrymum, so you have to SINK to get reported. I see. Throwing the odd comment here and there not really harmless FUN then?

catinthehat · 09/03/2008 18:37

Hi Franny -
quote from me "One person seems to have a very odd power and dominance issue which has probably been giving her a tremendous thrill for the last few days, watching all these people who simply aren't as fabulous as her jump through her hoops. I don't like to watch it."
Quote from Dior a second ago(quickest one to cut n paste, but lots in a similar vein on this thread which I also agree with) "I was worried because I nearly had a go at a poster because of the paranoia caused. I hated to think that a very supportive bunch of people on the Relationships forum could have been taken for a ride and then laughed at for it."
That kind of thing.
