Actually I don't think I am but can we stop all the Cod challenge threads now. No one can tell who is for real and who isn't and it is such a waste of time replying to threads that aren't real

cod did not compel anyone to participate in dumbass challenge, they did so of own volition.

AnnikaRice · 09/03/2008 17:31

wasn't aware it was still going on actually. As I said, it seems to be over with now anyway, which is fine, I don't disagree with that - I just don't think there is as much nastiness as some people are saying there is, no more than you normally find.

QuintessentialShadow · 09/03/2008 17:31

Shineys fame one was good because it was obvius it was a bit of a laugh, and not serious. But there has been a lot of serious threads this weekend, and I hate to think that some would find them trolling, and actually shout trip trap to somebody in real trouble posting for advice, simply because of the challenge.

You want a bit of fun? Netmums is pretty fluffy and fun.

totally agree - it's this sort of shit on MN that makes it just as wanky as places like Bounty. It's mean, arrogant and elitist. Also don't like the unanswered threads challenges that start up as well.

Wish the clique would stop it. Some people think they own the place.

original thread for blueshoes

Seems too much like hard work for me

QuintessentialShadow · 09/03/2008 17:33

Kerrymum, listen to yourself, are you drunk?

LadyOfWaffle · 09/03/2008 17:35

I agree with KM in a sense that sometimes it is pretty funny etc. and everyone likes to be silly once in a while (or more!) but OTOH, as I said before it's funny when they are obvious, totally silly to begin with but some you just can't tell, and that's where it's getting abit... you know.

catinthehat · 09/03/2008 17:36

here's one I made earlier complete with reaction from the adorable Cod.

Emprexia · 09/03/2008 17:39

Personally i think the whole thing is stupid.. if you want to have fun, do it in the chat or 'other subjects' section.

Challenges like this may look like fun but people who are unaware of it may get genuinely hurt or offended by some of whats being written in the name of 'fun'

QuintessentialShadow · 09/03/2008 17:42

Well said Kaishay

VintageGardenia · 09/03/2008 17:44

I don't think yabu a bit, I've avoided the board since it started. Serious threads suffer because of suspicion, and joke threads get people giving honest advice. People posting trying to get reported, namechanging, fake threads - what's not trolly about any of that?

I think it's undermined what MN is supposed to be about. And I don't think that considering it to be an improper use of MN means you've had a sense of humor failure. I think it's arsed up MN.

foxinsocks · 09/03/2008 17:44

lolol I'm not sure I had realised this was going on

WallOfSilence · 09/03/2008 17:46

So who was the famous mum then? Was it Shiny?

catinthehat · 09/03/2008 17:49

Foxy - glad you've got it. It really ain't been nice for lots of people round here - they've been made to look like idiots.

2shoes · 09/03/2008 18:00

i don'y mind the funny ones that you can tell are a wind up But it has made me reluctant to post and if others have felt the same there is a chance someone has been left without good advice.
(km this thread is not about you)

blueshoes · 09/03/2008 18:03

thanks for the link iota.

There was a smacking thread which was a dupe one. Quite a few posters put in sensible responses.

Fine to start a jokey one. That was not. A lot of people would not make the connection with the name of the OP.

why report you? that is what the challenge is about? getting reported!

See, being deliberately offencive on a thread just to be reported is really not what mumsnet is about. Not for ONE week, not for one day even.

YOU can, km. But not everyone is on the lookout for trolly posts all the time. I know I am not. But that is because it would never occur to me to do one.

Lots of posters were duped. So you are saying they were stupid?
