Actually I don't think I am but can we stop all the Cod challenge threads now. No one can tell who is for real and who isn't and it is such a waste of time replying to threads that aren't real

Thank you.

oh yes please

WanderingTrooley · 09/03/2008 18:11

WallofSilence - Shiny was famous mum.

Trolling nastily isn't part of the challenge. There are 2 threads to start: one that attracts over 200 posts and one on a well worn topic that attracts a healthy response. This doesn't have to mean starting a fight.

Sorry if anyone's been upset - that's not been the intention. It's all about how anyone interprets the challenges - maybe it's more apt to suggest threads started don't involve opportunities for wasting others' time? ie obviously be a daft troll or ask where you can buy baby pasta.

I am now going to start a thread in Pedants' Corner that will get complained about

artichokes · 09/03/2008 18:11

Yes KM it is one week. One week where a small clique of about 35 mumsnetters are abusing the boards. One week where any other poster with a serious problem may be put off from asking questions.
I am not a schoolmarm type, I am not against fun on MN, but stick to chat for piss takes. That way everyone can use MN for whatever help/fun/advice they need.

Lulumama · 09/03/2008 18:11

problems is, people are doubting the real thread, and for a SUPPORT forum, that is Not A Good Thing.

it is divisive and ultimately counter pdoductive, proving mumsnet is cliquey and a nest of vipers

i don;t like the implication that finding it annoying/upsetting makes you a stick in the mud or humourless.

Twiglett · 09/03/2008 18:12

bunch of sheep if you ask me!

I think this is totally ridiculous, i joined mumsnet to be able to chat to people, to try and post on a thread so you can deliberatley get banned seems ridiculous to me and very sad!!

2shoes · 09/03/2008 18:13

see LM is playing the game she wants to be deleted.
proves the op is nbu

dizzydixies · 09/03/2008 18:14

I gave a serious reply to the baby pasta am obvioulsy foolish newbie

WanderingTrooley · 09/03/2008 18:17

No you're not dizzy - the point is that, whilst done many times, baby pasta threads are still relevant.

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2008 18:18

blimey who cares

blueshoes · 09/03/2008 18:20

so Kerrymum, now that I know you are part of the challenge. You started a Stephen King thread yesterday that I posted on. Now were you happy that people stopped to share their opinions with you, or were you laughing at them for being duped? Perhaps we need to ignore any other posts you start in the future.

You did not reach 200 posts BTW.

OracleInaCoracle · 09/03/2008 18:20

i do, and obviously so do a lot of other people.

Wilkie · 09/03/2008 18:20

What a load of shit - hadn't realised that COD 'in her holiness' (sorry cod, nothing against you personally but it does get a bit dull with the whole 'COD' clique) had decided to set such a fun challenge.

Just bear in mind that even for ONE WEEK there will be a whole bunch of newbies, posting REAL problems and hoping for REAL advice only to get caught up in 'a bit of fun' that may well put them off MN forever.

Bit sad isn't it? MN has been a lifesaver for me with some truly WONDERFUL people on it - it I had joined and unwittingly entered into this load of bollocks then I would probably have been quite hurt and definitely wouldn't have come back.

Grow up please girls.

blueshoes · 09/03/2008 18:21

Kerrymum, you like to start posts in G&T, don't you. Wonder what cod thinks about them.

lol at the irony of cods clique..

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2008 18:23

well I think you should try NOT to mind so much about what other people are doing on MN

really

CodofCodHall · 09/03/2008 18:24

The challenge is just to make the Cod sycophants feel like they are better than the others. Whoopy do ladeez. Get a life.

Lulumama · 09/03/2008 18:25

that is true franny, but the trolling impacts all of us, and people are getting suspicious of genuine posters

there was an OP from someone in the 'depressed' section.. she is a regular, in a bad way.. it would have been horrific if people who did not know her name had initimated she was trolling as part of the challenge.

the is why, IMO, it does matter

spoken like a true cod

OracleInaCoracle · 09/03/2008 18:27

but i mind when someone starts a thread and im suspicious about whether that poster is genuine. there are lots of troll threads but there is the occasional thread which is genuine (anyone remember the woman who threw bacon at her dh?) and because the op seemed odd people start shouting troll, when its someone who needs help. and regular mners should know better!

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2008 18:27

'cod sycophants'?

blimey what bitchiness on this thread
if you don't like divisiveness why be so argumentative?

DrNortherner · 09/03/2008 18:27

Some people thought my lapdancing lodger thread was a wind up.

I am so offended.
