Actually I don't think I am but can we stop all the Cod challenge threads now. No one can tell who is for real and who isn't and it is such a waste of time replying to threads that aren't real

Thank you.

OP posts:

Jooly I sincerely hope you haven't judged those like Kerry as 'not nice' because she's started threads trying to attract over 200 posts for a challenge.

That would be misjudged and a terrible shame.

This is a tiny part of mn that''s has happened for a few days.

And it has flouncing in spades.

That is a pity. I hope that posters will consider the wider appeal of mn before they chuck the proverbial baby out with the hypothetical water.

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 22:46

But surely these boards are for the vulnerable and for the robust? No? Don't we all have live side by side and hope it'll all come out okay in the end?

Ledodgy · 09/03/2008 22:47

Well if i'm to be avoided because I did a joke thread in my own name about wanting to rouge my fanjo then so be it.

S1ur · 09/03/2008 22:48

Agree with 100x the week before was rank and bitter. eurgh.

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:49

It's always been kind of the way mn works, it's not like any of the other forums in that you have to be a little robust - there is a huge amount of straight talking and rudeness and silliness, that's why it's good. There's also huge amounts of support and kindness and lovely gentle people, it's not one or the other.

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 22:51

lol @ Ledogy. Your name is mud.

ScruffyTeddy · 09/03/2008 22:51

Fine. You feel its ok to deceive, take the piss and have a good larf at the expense of others.

Thats your choice. I dont agree.

Ledodgy · 09/03/2008 22:52

Indeed it is 100x but my fanjo is pinker than pink.

Rhubarb · 09/03/2008 22:52

I've emailed MNHQ asking for an explanation of their policy. They say on the Talk page "Whilst we allow unlimited nickname changes to preserve anonymity we don't allow name changing for misleading, malicious or inflammatory purposes." - obviously these threads abuse that.

Yet if you name names to defend yourself, you are deleted. Because that is classed as a personal attack.

?

Fuck it. It's not fucking fair.

Aitch · 09/03/2008 22:52

this whole challenge thing has pretty much passed me by and i've been here most of the weekend. and i knew about it at the time, having seen the original thread. has there really been as much challenge-related activity as everyone's saying? how did i miss it? or have i been duped and just don't care?

Wotz · 09/03/2008 22:52

I think this was crap topping on the troll turd left from last week!

Mn has a lot to offer and there are some very helpful posters. Sadly it has turned into a playground for some, who have very little consideration for others that may be less robust.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 09/03/2008 22:53

I'm not put off anyone in particular, I just hate to find myself thinking "Oh, they must be the cool kids". I do like this site, there seems to be a lot of smart, witty and sensible folk on it, with a wide range of opinions, which I think is great! I'm just a bit wary, I guess, but I can see I will need to toughen up a bit!

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 22:53

But that's where I disagree. I don't see anyone taking the piss our of others or laughing at them. That's why I think you are perhaps [cough] a touch paranoid.

But as I've said it's not good that QS was made to feel vulnerable about stuff in the spirit of helping someone. Not good at all. But I don't know that thread, and am only going on the threads I've seen.

S1ur · 09/03/2008 22:53

No One has said that Scruffyteddy. Really.

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:53

No SCruffy teddy, that is not what this has been. I don't think that's ok, and wouldn't do it.

If by deceive you mean pretend to be someone with a silly name instead of my real actual name, - and pretend to be spending my evening eating virtual fruit in a yurt with other oddly named interweb folk, then maybe a little bit. But NOT in the evil quiche way that you're seeing it.

Aitch · 09/03/2008 22:53

oh god rhubarb without wishing For One Second to get back into all that, that wasn't what happened with custardo. you simply cannot have seen it if you think it was. truly.

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 22:54

No they aren't the cool kids. There are no cool kids. Are there? There are some very nice vegetable munchers, and there's aitch down below with her head in the clouds but a ready grin.

Ledodgy · 09/03/2008 22:56

and i'm in my dm's in the corner dipping in and out of everything whilst smoking a roll up.

Aitch · 09/03/2008 22:56

oh yes 100x, not good if QS felt put out by it, must've been a bit of a bad and tasteless choice of OP to allow people to get that involved. i just am surprised that i haven't noticed this rash of threads, that's all.

Rhubarb · 09/03/2008 22:56

So starting a troll thread, asking for advice, not blatantly taking the piss like the pirate thread, but asking for advice on topics like breastfeeding, sniggering as newbies offer their time and advice, that's ok is it?

So if I started a thread asking for advice on an abusive relationship, and then sniggered as people offered their personal experiences and advice, that would be ok? Where do you draw the line? Oh aren't we oh so funny because we've been on Mumsnet for years and these newbies know shit so let's all take the piss!

Head girls at school syndrome. Get over yourselves!

harpsichordcarrier · 09/03/2008 22:57

evil quiche?
is it possible to have an evil quiche?
what would that involve?
the pastry of Satan?
the gruyere of Beelzebub

Aitch · 09/03/2008 22:57

halo clouds, halo trees... i am fotherington-tomas as any fule no.

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 22:57

Thing is jools everyone thinks there is a clique when they start, but if you keep going then you realize that's not the case at all. Just pitch in and you will find lots of helpful people in time of need and lots of funny people in time of erm, in time of need of a joke.

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:58

It would certainly contain that very pink processed ham I think Harpsi.

Rhubarb · 09/03/2008 22:58

No clique? Don't make me fucking laugh!
