Actually I don't think I am but can we stop all the Cod challenge threads now. No one can tell who is for real and who isn't and it is such a waste of time replying to threads that aren't real

Thank you.

What's glorified trolling?

ScruffyTeddy · 09/03/2008 22:05

Much the same as happy slapping.

S1ur · 09/03/2008 22:05

Tips of day etc are on home page.

Scruffy not sure if you're talking to anyone specific.

My point was the original challenge didn't call for mass trolling to upset people.

(Trolling in the traditional sense of namechanging to post inflammatory or upsetting things)

The jokey troll that Shiney did was very good and nothing to do with the challenge.

Twas glorious perhaps

S1ur · 09/03/2008 22:06

Scruffy that is a crap comparison.

I've spent 10 minutes skimming through this thread, and you know what I've realised?

I've realised that it's 10 minutes of my life that I am never getting back.

Dont you lot go out at the weekend?

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:11

I agree with Slur. People have always name changed to post silly threads, always, and very often it is funny. This was just more of the same, it was not calling for any particular people to join in or not join in, it was not calling for people to name change to be mean or nasty, it was flippant, it was daft, it was not intended to be upsetting or to make people angry.

ScruffyTeddy · 09/03/2008 22:13

I think you will see that I have not commented on shiny's thread. I didn't see it and I dont know her.

Shiny addressed me personally and so I replied.

PABLOP · 09/03/2008 22:16
  1. gte a post somplained about( on real grounds)

The only way anybody is going to complain about a post is if it has upset them, so therefore it is downright nasty.

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:18

Yes but nobody did that one did they?

Only KM seemed to try, by telling someone to fuck off, and i'm pretty sure she would have said that with or without the challenge.

Think we've established number is crap. Unless you got reported for say libel against tesco possible.

ScruffyTed think we are at misunderstanding each other here.

Crap comparison re: happy slapping and jokey trolling.

JossStick · 09/03/2008 22:20

This has really split down the middle hasn't it?

ScruffyTeddy · 09/03/2008 22:20

Well that makes it ok then if noone completed that particular part of the challenge!

Ok slur. You think my comparison was crap, I hear it (twice).

As long as I dont laugh at others for my own personal gain then im happy to be as crap as you perceive me to be.

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:24

No Scruffy, I'm suggesting no one, that I'm aware of actually TRIED to upset anyone on purpose and get deleted, not that they tried adn failed. This seems to be split down the middle because some are of the impression that it was generally light hearted messing, and others that it was vicious and vindictive trickery. I just didn't see any of that.

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 22:25

Now, now. She thought your comparison was crap, not YOU.

She was criticizing the behaviour not the person, she is a lovely mummy, she knows what to do.

Wotz · 09/03/2008 22:25

You don't have to name change to behave in a troll like manner. The forum has been flooded with post which have created enjoyment for some taking part and many negative emotions for those that had no idea what was happening and created a paranoid environment.

I think its a shame, but it must happen all the time, so you need to understand that stuff like this happens and have break fro MN. If you are new, it must be very odd to figure it all out.

to quote "It would be nice if everybody was easy going, but stuff like this does discourage people. Established posters may leave a message board because of the arguments that trolls ignite, and lurkers may decide that they do not want to expose themselves to abuse and thus never get involved."

And I have never really disagreed with some of the posters here, but I do now.

S1ur · 09/03/2008 22:27

Oh get over yourself.

I didn't call you crap, just your comment.

Happy slapping is a violent, nasty act. come on you were being flippant. I pulled you up on it.

Trolling even at its worst is not as bad as being kicked, punched, beating up for fun of filming it and showing your mates.

ANd you weren't even talking about the worst kind of trolling like mrsgg you seemed to refer to jokey trolls.

Have the good grace to admit when you made a crap comparison.

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:29

Well Wotz, I've never disagreed with you, so you must be right. I've not been around really this weekend anyway so maybe I missed something odd.

I really thought this was just some funny messing about and not an evil quiche trained by a wicked fish and unleashed on some kind hearted nice people. I don't think it was as bad as that, but if it was, i'm sure it'll settle down again.

S1ur · 09/03/2008 22:30

lol 100x

And on that vein I will continue to be a lovely mummy and admit when I am wrong. It was unfair to tell you to get over yourself, sometimes even us fabbo parents lose our temper a little.

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 22:31

I only know of two threads - oh no three. Cod did one on party bags, Shiny's I'm very famous (totally harmless and most amusing) and a smacking one which was outed in three posts.

What are the other ones? Or are you all just paranoid about not knowing? Why are you paranoid about it?
