Actually I don't think I am but can we stop all the Cod challenge threads now. No one can tell who is for real and who isn't and it is such a waste of time replying to threads that aren't real

Thank you.

OP posts:

We risk that somebody gets so pissed off, they bide their time, then name change and become purposefully unkind where least expected, in G&T, or SN, or in Relationships, as revenge. Not saying I would, because I wont, but, somebody might, as this is the ambience created by such sillyness.

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 21:44

But that was rumbled in three posts! I don't see why anyone would be upset by it?

ScruffyTeddy · 09/03/2008 21:44

What a strange thing to pick out of my post shiny. It was an example of being happy to go play and then finding out it was all false.

Its not fun. Its cruel.

blueshoes · 09/03/2008 21:46

If it wasn't rumbled? Then what? At least some people are decent enough to point it out.

TripleyTigger · 09/03/2008 21:46

And cod wonders why people want to stay on a thread with people that they know?
I think you have just shown everyone on MN why.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 09/03/2008 21:46

Well I purposefully changed my name yesterday just to be a daft cow and start the fame thread but that had nothing to do with unkindness although I know it did waste a few minutes time of the people who were posting genuine advice.

Ledodgy · 09/03/2008 21:47

I don't see how it was an 'in' joke when Cod started a public thread which anyone could see about the challenge.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 09/03/2008 21:48

Scruffy Teddy I wasn't picking you post apart. (sigh) Wasn't even aware it WAS your post.. I read all of them in one go. Was just posting my thoughts. Sorry.

QuintessentialShadow · 09/03/2008 21:48

Well said Tripley, this is exactly why people create their own little sanctuary and scuttles, and retreat into it, because they cant face the rest of mumsnet and all the shite.

JossStick · 09/03/2008 21:49

Maybe if you are on here 24/7 you can tell which ones are obviously fake - but as someone who posts in and out i get really confused.

Then i feel excluded not because i have security issues but because ..........well.................a bit pushed out iyswim.

S1ur · 09/03/2008 21:49

It's sad so many of the posters on here feel like they have been duped or laughed at.

I am personally not doind the challenge but.

IIRC the 10 points, did not include find someone unawre and mess with them.

Hold on.

Right.
---------

  1. start a thread attraacting 200 posts( ohter poeples and not just bumping)
  1. have a style problem solved
  1. get a mention on tip of hte day OR discussions of the day
  1. gte a post somplained about( on real grounds)
  1. infiltrate a cliquey htread and become accepted thereupon.
  1. use the bat succesffully www.soest.hawaii.edu/expeditions/mariana/images/annsoupy/kids-easter%20soupy%20closeup.jpg
  1. update your prfile and wait till someone commetns on it
  1. start a thread on a very well worn topic and get a healthy reponse( like " what are your family's chirsmtas tradtions or "how do you entertain a baby on a long haul fliught" )
  1. change your name and see if peopel recognsie you byt style of posting/intuation alone.
  1. Get a valid comment from any of the mumsnet team to you on a thread.

---------

Okay so apart from number four, which is dubious depending on how people choose to go about it, the rest seem fine.

They are not about tricking people.

No bullying, or popular kids being mean. If you feel that it is sad, but I don't think you can lay that on Cod really.

blueshoes · 09/03/2008 21:50

Ledgogy, public as it is, I believe it was started in Chat, where only those who like to Chat venture. And who has time to read every single thread?

TripleyTigger · 09/03/2008 21:51
Ledodgy · 09/03/2008 21:52

Oh I thought everyone looked at chat. My mistake then. I started a thread in my own name as a joke about lipsticking my fanjo but revealed I was joking in the end because some people actually believed me. I didn't see any of the false threads on serious subject matter imo that wasn't in the spirit of it all if they did happen.

lucyellensmum · 09/03/2008 21:52

Its all floated WAY over my head

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 09/03/2008 21:52

PMSL Ledodgy.. where is it??

blueshoes · 09/03/2008 21:53

There is potentially inflammatory one on smacking. I posted the link below.

Ledodgy · 09/03/2008 21:53

here

Wasn't as popular a syours though Shiny.

lucyellensmum · 09/03/2008 21:53

I did number ten without even knowing about the challenge

eekamoose · 09/03/2008 21:57

Waste of precious time for anyone who didn't see Cod's original challenge thread.

Also, waste of precious time for anyone who did see it and rose to the challenge, imho.

ScruffyTeddy · 09/03/2008 21:59

Dress it up any way you want, its glorified trolling.

dizzydixies · 09/03/2008 22:01

and can someome tell me WHERE the tip/discussions of the day are!?!??!?

JossStick · 09/03/2008 22:02

I have a sense of humour, really i do
but

what's the point???

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 09/03/2008 22:02

Snorting with laughter... "you can use it on your lips and cheeks without specifying which lips or cheeks..."

..and.. " may do they are a bit pasty too although that may ruin my egyption cotton bed sheets. .."

I wish I hadn't missed it! I wouldn't have fallen for it (I don't think!) but I would have contributed heartily!!
