To ask if you believe in manifestation?

I watched ‘The Secret’ today. It seemed to be mostly waffle with some random quotes thrown in, but from what I can gather it suggests that positive thinking and asking for things from the universe is what leads to ‘success’ and essentially getting what you want.

So I’d love to hear if you have ever manifested something into reality? How did you do it and how long did it take? Do you believe in it? And does the banishing of negative thoughts ever stress you out?

I just want to know what day to day life is like for people who practice this and if people have actually had something happen they put down to it?

Silly me! I'll put it out to the universe that I don't have arthritis and see what comes back 😁

I have arthritis and thank my stars that’s all I have.. it’s about perception.

For me it’s about knowing and identifying what would bring contentment. So not the lottery which is just stupid wishful thinking. Maybe living overseas? So once it’s decided on some level, a person starts to look for opportunities and take on training to work. They start applying and actively researching life there. Eventually one day it can happen. Follow this logic with almost anything.

What do you need?
Its starts there.
It then sets in motion with enough motivation to follow it through. It’s well documented and called the actualising tendency. And we all have the potential.

No they don’t.

There is some correlation between CHRONIC stress and poor health outcomes, including cancer- but everyone has some negative thoughts sometimes. It isn’t remotely normal or healthy to try and force yourself to feel positive all the time.

If having negative thoughts caused people to be ill then there wouldn’t be millions of people in refugee camps would there? They would all have died of Negative Thoughts. I would definitely have been very ill by about 8 years old.

Fucking hell, toddlers would be dropping like flies considering how often their life is destroyed by being given the wrong banana 🤦‍♀️

That's a very extreme, black and white interpretation of what I actually said.

That's called thinking, it's not magical manifesting bollocks.

I think it’s more than that actually. I can think about a million things. There is something about the process that starts a chain reaction. It worked for me so I am not complaining!!

Lloki · 24/10/2023 17:50

I came across manifestation just over a year ago after reading 'Just F-ing do it'.
I'm not sure how I feel about it, I have achieved a few things that I thought I never would, but I do think its down to a positive mindset and being pro-active, which I am a lot more now.

historiccastles · 24/10/2023 18:17

No I don't and I think it's dangerous. It risks blaming people who don't get what they want or when bad things happen. It implies a level of self importance we just don't have. And it assumes that there is some kind of supernatural being out there who is just a giant ATM or wish machine.

No religion I know of sees prayer as a guaranteed way of getting what you want but a way of requesting things that may or may not be granted so I don't see them as comparable.

Sure, positive thinking and focus/determination help. But that's it.

malificent7 · 24/10/2023 18:49

I manifested a first through hard work and determination.

Grapewrath · 24/10/2023 18:49

Me personally I don’t think manifestation dictates that we ‘bring on’ bad things with negative thoughts. It’s normal to have negative and low thoughts and doing so won’t mean bad things happen. You can’t ‘manifest’ your way out of a shit situation but you can live in gratitude for what you do have and concentrate on cultivating more of that.
Its not toxic positivity to try and find the better bits if a shit situation. There’s a thing, I think they’re called exceptional cancer patients, who out live their prognosis and it’s due to a combination of factors but usually one of those is mindset.
I’m not saying all sick people or those with crap lives can manifest out of it, just that there are different ways we can approach life and this can affect our outlook

Gidrich · 22/10/2023 23:11

Because the op asked if people believe in manifestation- I don’t.

Some things are not a matter of opinion, they are facts. It is a fact that positive thinking, while having some usefulness, does not cause the universe to provide you with whatever you fancy. It is a fact that negative thoughts will not cause you to develop illness or get hit by a bus. It is a fact that many people are ripped off and/or damaged by charlatans selling this snake oil.

that's you opinion

Gidrich · 25/10/2023 19:09

themothergoose · 24/10/2023 20:47

Nope, it’s a fact. There is no giant health giving atm in the sky.
