Bruising without reason

cloudxo · 20/10/2023 14:57

In 15 hours this is how worse my bruising has gotten, 111 just telling me I'll get an appointment within 3 days without even seeing a photo of it, should I go to a&e or at I being dramatic. Never experienced this so I have no idea what to do

I'd be freaking out and be looking to get seen ASAP. Do you have private GPs in the UK? If you don't feel confident going to A&E you could try them. I wouldn't be sitting around for 3 days though for sure.

Superscientist · 20/10/2023 15:48

Phone your GP back and ask them what to do as it has gotten worse. They should point you in the right direction.
Of they don't consider minor injuries or a and e

Random bruising of often something out of balance in your blood meaning you have less platelets for clotting. One example is leukemia as mentioned previously as your blood is full of cancerous white blood cells. There are other things that would give the same effect

2jacqi · 20/10/2023 15:49

if you have not injured yourself in any way and this is happening for no reason then I would get to a/e now. clotting problems or it could be worse/ this could very well be life threatening

cloudxo · 20/10/2023 15:51

Thankyou all for your advice, heading to a&e

Go to A&E asap. It could be just a low level of platelets but with it any small injury became very very serious.
Hope it will be resolved quickly.

dandelionandburdock36 · 20/10/2023 15:59

I’m glad you’re going to A&E. I’d have said a walk-in centre today at the very least, certainly not 111.

Cowlover89 · 20/10/2023 16:00

Definitely go to A&E x

Gillypie23 · 20/10/2023 16:05

You really need to see a doctor.

Are you taking meds ? Anti inflammatories?

Howannoyingislife · 20/10/2023 16:12

I have this currently awaiting an appointment for a bown marrow biopsy. It could be anelia or a allergic reaction also

Ladylalaboo1 · 20/10/2023 16:25

Hope you get seen quickly op! Just curious if you are on any antidepressants? Sertraline specifically? Because I've read multiple stories of people on this who bruise so much and all over!

Clarinet1 · 20/10/2023 16:27

Glad you’re going to A&E ; my DGM had this symptom when she had aplastic anaemia - However please note that she recovered and lived another 20 years!

zingally · 20/10/2023 16:28

If you honestly have no idea how you've done it, I'd get down to A&E sharpish.

Unexplained bruising like that can be a sign of sepsis, meningitis and even leukemia.

Banned4life · 20/10/2023 16:46

Have you started any new medication? My mum had something like this when she took naproxen and my husband got a lot of weird bruising when he started fluoxetine (Prozac)

glad you’re heading to get proper advise though!

I had this from Sertraline, not as many as that though! GP sent me to a&e for urgent bloods to rule out anything nasty before they would confirm Sertraline was to blame. Hope you're seen soon!

Willyoujustbequiet · 20/10/2023 17:14

Go to A and E now.

My friend lost her sister to thrombocytopenia which came on very suddenly. Its as quick as meningitis

Itrymybestyesido · 20/10/2023 17:16

Please go to A&E for that. Possibly many things but could be ITP if no reason for the bruises and could need immediate attention.

steff13 · 20/10/2023 17:23

Like a PP, my first thought was leukemia. I hope it's nothing serious.

snapple21 · 20/10/2023 17:24

I'd also be getting this checked, glad you've gone.

febbabies2023 · 20/10/2023 18:07

Keep us updated op hope it's nothing serious

londonmummy1966 · 20/10/2023 18:09

Glad you've gone - this can sometimes be triggered by exercise - I got it quite a bit at one point down to a combination of an anti depressant that suppresses clotting exercise causing capillary damage in the muscles (normal) and being a bit low on iron.

MotherEarthisaTerf · 20/10/2023 18:10

Good luck. I bruise awful and my legs look similar sometimes but the bruises don’t all come at once, I accumulate them throughout the week etc so they’re in various colours.

in your shoes I would also have head off to A&E. good luck x
