Sorry, but I do! He just kept slowly driving through them. I'm heartily tired of the bully boy tactics of Just Stop Oil thinking they can rely on people not to keep driving at them. I'm so glad he called their bluff. Also glad it was Scotland. They are pretty hardy there and take nae shite!

I love the way the protestors seem genuinely outraged at being put at 'risk' even though they are choosing to sit in front of his bus....

Agreed. Their protests are inconveniencing the wrong people. Idiots.

blueskybees · 19/10/2023 16:31

Yeah right. And its a bus! Its surely better for the environment for people to be on buses than individual cars.

Like when they protested at the underground trains in London! Numpties.

What a shower of absolute gobshites. Genuinely mind boggling.

Great video!

DivingForLove · 19/10/2023 17:14

Why on earth are they targeting a bus?!?

Sayitaintso33 · 19/10/2023 17:16

I don't think the right to protest should include blocking the highway but I am uncomfortable with coaches being used as weapons.

CarrickBends · 19/10/2023 17:18

we live in a democracy, they have a right to protest. Are you genuinely supporting an act of violence against protesters just because you disagree with them?

Stop exaggerating. It’s not a weapon. It’s a very slowly moving bus that they are all very capable of moving out of the way of. Which they did.

I thought it was quite funny , especially the look on his face . I’ve been inconvenienced by these types of protests and frankly it’s wearing a bit thin .

Hermittrismegistus · 19/10/2023 17:21

The protesters are committing violence against themselves by standing in front of a moving vehicle.

Oh the drama! Again, stop the exaggeration. It’s not an act of violence, it’s a very slowly moving bus that they were all very capable of moving out of the way of. Which they all did.

And yes, I absolutely support this, and I sincerely hope all drivers take this approach every single time Stop Oil pull this crap. Because that is the quickest way to stop them.

OP posts:
BrakeLights · 19/10/2023 17:23

I think that's pretty risky. What if someone had tripped and got under the bus without the driver noticing? Surely, that's not worth it just to make a point or to call someone's bluff? I don't think the protesters are coming off very well fighting against a bus of all things but no, I don't think the bus driver was right.

Merkins · 19/10/2023 17:23

Not sure when Dorset moved to Scotland, but if you say so. They are not protesting the use of a bus they are protesting the passengers on the bus being taken to the Bibby Stockholm.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 19/10/2023 17:24

It's ridiculous to target a bus. They should blockade places like Farnborough airport (only private planes) instead.

You don't call driving a vehicle through a group of protesters an act of violence? Again, I suspect you would if you agreed with the protesters.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 19/10/2023 17:25

I do agree with the protestors. I don't agree that buses should be the target, though. 34 odd people on a bus is better than 34 cars.

And definitely better than going on private jets.

They could have chosen not to stand in front of the bus. When the bus driver made it clear he wasn’t stopping they could have chosen not to keep standing and sitting in front of said moving bus. Their choice. I teach my children that you are responsible for the foreseeable consequences of your actions. I’m sure those adults can work this out too.

They are basically bullies relying on people not standing up to them. I am glad this driver did.

Of course they could have but two wrongs don't make a right and I try to teach my kids that even dickheads aren't worth harming unless they put your life in danger. It just isn't worth it. Life is too valuable to risk it to make a point even if it someone else's life.

Changingnameagain · 19/10/2023 17:32

YABU to advocate for anyone to drive at another human being. JSO aren't protesting the use of a coach- they're protesting the use of the Bibby Stockholm to house refugees.

ChickHenLittle · 19/10/2023 17:37

Not this shower again... if they don't want to be hit by a bus - don't stand in front of a bus. Simple. I hope the driver isn't in bother because of it.

My Lord! The assumptions! I do support the environmental cause. One of the reasons Stop Oil piss me off so much is that they alienate people from that cause through their twatty actions.

And no, I don't call slowly moving a bus that they are deliberately trying to prevent from going about its lawful job, and which they can and do all easily move out of the way of, an act of violence.

Lets face it. These Stop Oil people are not exactly the civil rights protestors going over Selma Bridge, are they? They want to do their little protest, but they don't actually want to suffer any discomfort or harm for their mighty cause do they? (exhibit A - how rapidly they moved out of the way and their absolute outrage that there could have been any possibility of someone causing them any harm). No, these comfortable middle class lot want all the discomfort caused by their protest to be on other people, and none on them. That's why they piss people off so much. We can all bloody see who they want to to take the hit. And its certainly not them.

Very skilled piece of driving I thought. I'm sure they'll get their Emily Davison moment one day the way they carry on.

Working class Scots being inconvenienced by a load of gobshite, lefty southerners. Fuck off home to Hampstead.

They're protesting about the asylum barge.

Hence they're in Dorset, not Scotland.
