Products that need a rehaul of their packaging, to make them easier to use?

Metanium. A thick yellow cream for baby's bum. I have been using a little for menopausal itches. But the packaging is a disaster! A flimsy metallic tube that splits at the sides, so that you have cream coming out everywhere. I don't want to waste the cream, so have put the tube in a little plastic bag. It's still incredibly messy to use though. When this finishes, I'll go back to a sturdy tub of Sudocrem, which is frankly the superior product anyway.

Superglue (any brand of) - the glue dribbles out and the lid ends up being stuck on. Again, messy and wasteful to use. And because I'm dyspraxic, I've stuck my fingers together more than once BlushBlushBlush

Is it just me?

I agree with you about metanium - it’s a godsend here. Everything from cuts and skin chaf etc brilliant but squirts out all over the lid so you only get half a tube - lid never goes back on properly. Have to keep it in its own bag and then it splits!

lipsticks - why is it not double ended or made so you can get the end of out. Melts in the sun. Black case not the best colour as it gets warm quickly. Ditto eyeshadow that breaks up in the case in your handbag and goes everywhere.

Rocksonabeach · 19/10/2023 10:27

Superglue you open it and use a small bit and it drops everywhere. Leave it with the cap on tightly for 4 weeks and come to use it again and it’s all cured.

Shampoo and conditioner: once you get in the shower and haven't got glasses on it's not easy to distinguish ! Plus those little conditioners that can't be torn open - am I the only person with no scissors in the bathroom?!

Handsnotwands · 19/10/2023 10:30

bacon

doubleshotcappuccino · 19/10/2023 10:30

@Rocksonabeach I see your double ended lipstick ( brilliant) and raise you double ended mascara and eyeliner at other end

LisaVanderpump1 · 19/10/2023 10:32

Products that come in tins that screw and unscrew (can't really explain it very well!). I adore my Body Shop cleanser, but it comes in this really annoying tin, and if you don't line up the lid and the tin perfectly, the lid doesn't screw on properly. Takes me ages to get in and out of some days.

BodegaSushi · 19/10/2023 10:34

Water in a can 😕 so I can't buy one, take a few sips and put it into my bag for later, I have to drink it all in one go or be left carrying a bloody can about

Sugarfree23 · 19/10/2023 10:35

How would a double ended lipstick work?

Do you mean it would be like a kids crayon 🖍 with just paper round the middle to protect it?

Yes superglue needs better packaging. I do remember seeing a pack of about 10 tiny single use superglues. Use each once and bin.

Anything that has a peel-back corner. They do not work! Either it doesn't budge and you have to use a knife or it splits and doesn't fully open.

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2023 10:35

Most wet food cat pouches in gravy. Almost impossible to get it all out and why does the foil need to be plasticised?

Commencethedancing · 19/10/2023 10:35

So many children’s board games and puzzles that come in pretty boxes and then you can’t get the content back in!

do a little turn backwards, it aligns the threads and then is easy to screw

Yes!! The jelly stuff slides out but the gravy one is a nightmare.

So true.

Individual sachets of ketchup, tartare sauce etc. Literally can't open them.

Douwe Egberts instant coffee.

DumboHimalayan · 19/10/2023 10:41

Any pair of scissors in heat-sealed plastic clamshell packaging, or with a cable tie holding the handles together. If I had a pair of scissors, why would I have bought a pair of scissors?

Simonjt · 19/10/2023 10:46

Put the nappy rash ointment into an old sudacrem pot, thats what we do, much easier.

Jewelspun · 19/10/2023 10:48

Scissors that are held together with a cable tie that require a pair of scissors to cut!

SisterMichaelsHabit · 19/10/2023 10:48

Johnson's baby bath products in those stupid teardrop bottles. They look so pretty but try picking up the bottle when your hands are wet (or worse, soapy). Unusable. I love the scent of the baby bedtime bath but don't buy it because the bottle isn't designed to be held by hands.

Any packaging where they've shaped it so you can't keep hold of it easily is stupid. I can't think of any other examples off the top of my head though.

eosmum · 19/10/2023 10:49

Packets with a corner pull, like bacon, that don't pull. Or even worse packets that have a pull that doesn't work but then are also shrink wrapped like prawns. I have the scar from that one.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 19/10/2023 10:51

Things that need to be opened with scissors but are designed to be eaten "on the go" at lunchtimes. Given that I don't carry bladed objects around with me to and from the office, no, I can't open that packaging.

mydogspooeybum · 19/10/2023 10:52

Handsnotwands · 19/10/2023 10:30

bacon

I came on to say bacon. What's the point of having that little corner that turns up but doesn't go any further?!

2jacqi · 19/10/2023 10:52

toy cars bought on day trip to town for kiddy but you need a bloody screwdriver to get them out the packaging!! wtf!

SisterMichaelsHabit · 19/10/2023 10:55

Oh and those new Coca Cola-brand bottles where the lid stays attached to the bottle so your nose, chin or cheek gets squashed and scratched by the edges of the lid while you're trying to drink your Dr Pepper.
I mean if they actually cared about recycling, why didn't they just go with better-made reusable bottles (washable at high temperatures) and coin-operated post-mix refill stations?

molotovcupcakes · 19/10/2023 10:58

Child proof plastic tubs with liquid washing capsules in them are a nightmare to nightmare to open and close and some of the capsule tabs leak- I’ve gone back to washing powder.
