To think everyone on MN has 3+ kids

I have read so many threads on MN where people keep posting about having 3 or more kids. It feels like everyone on MN has over 3 kids and what's really baffling is that this country's fertility rates are declining. Not sure about how it all works and how people afford so many DC.

It does seem like a disproportionate number of people on MN have more than 2, compared to my experience in real life.

I have 3 kids and currently pregnant however to get all my children it was a difficult process as I found it hard to conceive.

However I'm pretty sure there are loads of women out there that are sadly struggling.

I have many friends that either don't have children or only have 1

I’ve got 3 and definitely the odd one out in real life.

Almost all of my friends have 1, a couple 2.
In the school pickup it’s mostly singles with the odd one with two.

When you mention you have 3 to people they always seem really shocked as if it’s completely wild to have so many!

I must have mislaid one in that case.

Same! IRL most mums I know from my children's school have two. There's a couple of "one and done", and per class there's one or two mums with three or more, but definitely not common at all to have more than two. Unfortunately I'm not sure how financially viable it is for most these days to have more than one or two... but then again everyone on Mumsnet (or their husband) is on at least seven figure salaries 😁😄

At my kids school most seem to only have 1 or 2. There is one woman with 6 but she really does stand out.

Pinkshoppingbag · 19/10/2023 17:46

Most folk I know have 2. I have 1. 3+ is quite unusual round here. I don't care how many kids people have. The only thing that disappoints me on here is the negativity towards only children.

We had planned 2 only but the second one was twins so 3 by accident Smile

verdantverdure · 19/10/2023 18:00

Most of the women I know have 0 children.

GreyhpundGirl · 19/10/2023 18:07

We were ambivalent about having any so consider just the one to be enough of an achievement 😂

Most of the women I know have 0 children.

Interestingly, more than half of my friends are child free by choice (we're in our 40s)
