I would like to buy a bigger house in a few years time but it would mean getting a bigger mortgage. Got me thinking what is the norm?

I’ll go first
39 years old
£3000 joint salary
£250k mortgage

40, 7k (joint) 10k left will pay it off next month.

Totalwasteofpaper · 14/10/2023 05:51

39 and 33
Approx £12k net pm but we take home less post pension payments
Around £550k

We put a fair whack in pensions and savings Vs overpayments as interest rate is pretty low and we will be in this house for 20-25 years +.

Fascinated by the low mortgages as we had no help / inheritance and are stuck in SE. /London for work...

secretllama · 14/10/2023 06:21

Mortgage 250k, 1250pm.

The most important thing we pay is our insurances. We pay a lot but are covered for lots of scenarios and know the mortgage and bills will always be covered due to this.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand the post? Why is knowing others financials going to help you?
see a mortgage advisor and look at what you can borrow?

Need a bigger house but can't afford it. Have quite high costs of childcare and kids activities which I don't want to cut so we make do. Whole house needs refurbishment so saving for that.
