Anyone have a nice passive aggressive reply to this rudeness?

Last sent a text on Thursday arranging for collection of an item I'm selling. Have had various texts over the course of the week. Item value is £32 if relevant.

Last text them on Thursday to say text me and I'll send directions. (This photo shows a Google message thread, I don't have their phone number) ... Just walked in the kitchen and these ping through.... am slightly hungry, so feel a bit hangry. It's also Friday and I'm rushing to visit a friend in a minute. Absolutely want to say "don't bother - you rude twat". . As I can't stand the ??? After them not getting an immediate reply. However, I'd prefer a passive aggressive reply if anyone got any smart ones?
Unfortunately I've already replied with a no problem - postcode attached, see you Sunday, but would also quite fancy pulling them up on their rudeness. . Talk me off the ledge? ... if relevant I don't need the £32 but would be nice to get rid of the item. Thoughts? Am I being an unreasonable hangry person?

Not you are not. See my thread from yesterday about FB Marketplace.

MidnightOnceMore · 13/10/2023 17:09

Just ignore it. You want the £32 and the item gone. Let it go, they are not worth the bother.

There's definitely the non hangry part of me thinking this. .

Ooo. Can you link it ?

I don't really think it's that rude? Maybe he realised he forgot the "?" so added it? I dunno, I was expecting something much worse from what you were saying

Namechangedforthis25 · 13/10/2023 17:11

Either he was rude - in which case ignore it as you want to sell it

or he was trying to be polite as he forgot to use a question mark - in which case ignore it

MaggieFS · 13/10/2023 17:12

I'm confused by post. Have you included all the screen shots which you meant to?

See, and that's why I love Mumsnet - could well have forgotten the ? And they aren't being rude at all ... thank yiu for that. Feel a bit calmer already !! Smile

So long as they pay and don't grumble, I wouldn't give it too much head space. People on FB market place can do a lot, lot worse than send an occasional '?' message.

StBernie · 13/10/2023 17:13

Maybe I’m being generous but could they have just added the ? after because they realised it was missing from the first message? It had only been 15 mins so seems incredibly impatient if it was meant to be a nudge.

MaggieFS · 13/10/2023 17:13

I think the standalone question mark is just because it was missing from the original message? I do that sort of thing all the time

You're the second person to say that - so I'm feeling better (and less mean) already. Good perspective. Thank you Smile

3rd person thinking that .. I think you're all right.

It was a fucking nudge - who revisits a text 15 mins later and adds punctuation?

Possibly relevant that I too am hangry and slow frying onions

Officially talked off the ledge. 4 people have said that so I'm definitely not sending a PA text in reply. Thank you all. Stand down and as you were Blush

Choice4567 · 13/10/2023 17:15

I’m not seeing a huge issue with it. A little abrupt maybe

I had someone message me to ask if an item was available that I was selling for £10. I replied that it was. In the space of 5 minutes I got a stream of messages saying they wanted it,
they were on their way
they’d arrived
they were giving up and going home because I was so rude and they’d walked all the way and couldn’t afford a taxi

I politely pointed out that I hadn’t given them my address and they hadn’t asked if I was in before they’d set off!

Decemberstartsonsunday · 13/10/2023 17:15

Honestly OP I don't think he was rude, I've done the same thing in a message thread.

Iknowthis1 · 13/10/2023 17:16

I don't think they were intentionally rude.

You can step away from the ledge 😁

We are in the minority. I'm off the ledge. . Hope hangryness goes soon. For both of us.

Did you read the first message before they sent the question mark? If they saw it had been read then they might be worried that you would forget about their message as it would no longer be an 'unread message'. They might also be concerned that you jad changed your mind and had decided to ghost them if the first message was already read.

I wouldn't do it...but just a thought.

It isn't necessarily instant. The transmitter could have added it immediately, but it took 15 minutes to actually send. For any number of reasons.
