As well as killing people there have been mass abductions and some strong evidence of rapes and infantacide. The incident that has caused particular upset is the nearly naked body of one German music festival attendee being paraded on the back of a pickup truck. The footage includes people celebrating this and also spitting on her, and her family saw the footage and recognised her from her distinctive tattoos.

What I don't understand in the current UK debate (and MN) is the use of the left/right political viewpoints as a basis for argument for/against the Israeli land-grabs.

It is more based in religious differences, like the NI conflicts, past and present, with some of the same geo-politics too. It's not like the Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain.

No, due to religious beliefs, based mainly on a man-made book, many Jewish people believe they have the divine right to occupy any lands they perceive to be theirs as belonging to the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

Never mind the people of a different faith that already live there. Not all Jewish people want to live in Israel, and some really don't like it.

That may be true for people, but certainly not for western politicians. If it were true for the politicians, they would do far more than just "Tut" when the Israeli government encourages Israelis to build settlements in the West bank. Until Israel stops that, they will continue to be seen as aggressive and expansionist. None of them are blowing up children or kidnapping toddlers or executing elderly civilians. I assume you're not advocating Jews attack Iran, Syria, Libya, Iraq and so on to fight for "land" that was their families 80 years ago or to demand rights in their country? If not, then it's you who might have a double standard here.
