End of...

It seems so rude to me when people end their post with 'end of'. Like they are so very self important, and only what they say matters. More and more people seem to be doing it on here.

OP posts:
Roughashouses · 06/10/2023 10:27

The comment before the 'end of' is never really show stopping either is it? I also dislike 'discuss'.

Was going to say the exact same about "discuss". It sounds so wanky..

twilightcafe · 06/10/2023 10:31

Using 'End Of' is proof that the poster couldn't argue their way out of a paper bag and is trying to dodge debate.

ColleenDonaghy · 06/10/2023 10:37

Guarantee there's a phrase you use that pisses people off OP.

x2boys · 06/10/2023 10:58

!it's of phrases annoy me on here
Boils my piss
Ducks in a,row
Not my circus not my monkeys
Did you mean to be so rude
Cock womble
To name a few .

MagpiePi · 06/10/2023 11:00

You lot need to give your head a wobble

😡

CrapBucket · 06/10/2023 11:14

If a post says End of, or Discuss, I scroll straight past - I hate it but its useful in flagging which posts are a load of shite.

2023forme · 06/10/2023 11:16

boils my piss
tear him a new one
fuck off daily fail

these are the worst phrases on MN
End of.

it makes me laugh that they think they can stop a discussion.
And i will often make a post contradicting them, even if i agree with the position, just to annoy.

Wonderful 🤣😆🤣😆

Everanewbie · 06/10/2023 11:22

Agreed OP. An its usually a poorly written and badly argued post that the poster believes to be a 'gotcha' comment.

AdditionalCharacter · 06/10/2023 11:22

Rant over?

punnetofcherries · 06/10/2023 11:23

Nothing to see here, move on

I hate it!!!!

MapleSyrupWaffles · 06/10/2023 11:27

Yes, very arrogant of them.

I also hate "And breathe". As wanky as the others.

Most of them are just overused and/or used in slightly the wrong context, which negates any effect the poster thought they'd have.

BigTedLittleTedCardboardBox · 06/10/2023 11:29

'End of' definitely signals a certain type of person. DH and I use it in a lighthearted piss-taking ironic manner when we just want to get our own way over something trivial. "We're having a tea break, end of" when gardening or something.

I also find a big wall of text asking for help with something or ideas followed by "... Go!" rage inducing. Like everyone's so keen they can't hold themselves back.

Greenfinch7 · 06/10/2023 11:37

I hate:
'But I digress'
and
'I'll probably get my. arse handed to me on a plate" (or similar expression), followed by something bland and barely controversial

VeridicalVagabond · 06/10/2023 11:39

It does seem odd to start a discussion by saying "end of discussion".

I'd love it if people took it literally and just didn't respond.

curaçao · 06/10/2023 11:42

The one that annoys ne most is when posters return to a debate to say ' is this still going on?', as thought their post in itself isn't prolonging the thread

Yes 'go!' And 'discuss' really fuck me off!

Move22 · 06/10/2023 11:49

Put your big girl pants on.

icallitasplodge · 06/10/2023 11:52

YABU. I don’t think people intend it to stop people talking. Just that this point has been made. Like full stop. Or that’s it. Or underlining a sentence.

I am sure we all say things that upset others.

Brefugee · 06/10/2023 11:54

Haha - are you new to the internet?

waistchallenge · 06/10/2023 11:56

Add "gently..." to the list 🤮

Pix56 · 06/10/2023 11:59

Add "rage inducing". It's always used on an insignificant comment.

Hooplahooping · 06/10/2023 12:00

Oh I’m completely on board with you OP. It gives me HUGE ick. Like someone has read something they think sounds clever and are parroting it as if it’s a huge and original fait accompli. Also ‘mic drop’. You don’t need to bait a response if I’m you have composed a well thought through post…

( I’d like to add ‘I’m just playing devils advocate’ - 95% of the time they are in fact ‘being a douche rocket of the highest order’)
