A woman is a woman

For those who have been following the Tory conference and general themes of their speeches…

How do you feel about Sunak’s speech?

I know there has been a lot of discussion on here from those who didn’t want to vote for a party that didn’t know the definition of a woman.

Rishi has stated clearly that “a woman is a woman and a man is a man.” While I’d argue that still isn’t a definition, per se, he is appeasing this way of thinking.

So I’m just wondering. Is this enough for you to vote Tory at the next election?

€I wouldn’t be intimidated by a transwoman and I would like to understand why someone else is. ^

Because they are as male as any other male. Why would I see these males differently? They're already red flagged for me if they are invading female only spaces.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/10/2023 14:17

I do believe though that the majority of the (tiny) number of people who describe themselves as trans women do believe that they are women and just want to get on with their lives in peace.

I think this is extraordinarily naive.

I’m genuinely baffled as to why a bloke popping on a skirt rather than a pair of trousers & going into the ladies would be less scary

they’re still a bloke

In most cases, a bloke who believes he’s a woman. Why would that person want to hurt you?

caringcarer · 08/10/2023 14:18

I can't vote for Keir who does not want to admit what a woman is but I dislike Rishi too.....no idea of I can vote in the next election.

MankyMinge · 08/10/2023 14:18

@ArabellaScott I'm so sorry that happened to you.

What I find disturbing is that no one person has ever been able to find a reasonable justification as to why a TW (whether they be dysphoric or AGP) cannot use the mens'. Not one.

I'm curious - why would a man wearing a skirt be less intimidating than any other man?

Because he believes he’s a woman. Isn’t that the whole point? Why would I feel threatened by someone who believes they’re a woman?

Seeing your update, that’s horrible and I’m very sorry that that happened to you. I understand sexual assault and rape. I do believe though that the majority of the (tiny) number of people who describe themselves as trans women do believe that they are women and just want to get on with their lives in peace.

To me, the other issues I’ve listed are far more important to far more people and to overlook those and try to elect this terrible, damaging Government again based on one issue that in daily life affects very few people feels very misguided, even naive. They don’t care about your fears.

So a man's 'belief' suddenly makes him less of a threat?

Are you serious? Do you actually think about what you're saying?

And many of these men don't truly 'believe' it, it's simply cross-dressing for them, and getting off on making women feel uncomfortable.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 08/10/2023 14:20

And despite the heavily filtered carefully curated social media photos, the vast vast majority TW look exactly what they are, a man in woman’s clothing

I’ve no problem at all with men wearing dresses, skirts, make up, heels whatever. More power to them in busting gender stereotypes

it doesn’t make them women though & they don’t belong in women’s spaces

Yes, he could. Why do you suppose he wouldn't? I'm genuinely interested in why you think he wouldn't want to hurt us just because he 'believes' he's a woman.

ArabellaScott · 08/10/2023 14:22

Thanks, MrsSkyler, for your sympathy, and for explaining your thinking.

Because he believes he’s a woman. Isn’t that the whole point? Why would I feel threatened by someone who believes they’re a woman?

Well, as I've said above. I have evidence of my own experience that a man wearing a wig, lipstick and a frock is not necessarily not a threat.

I have no idea if he 'believed he was a woman'. I don't really even care. What mattered was that he frightened me, and assaulted me to get sexual gratification.

There is no evidence whatsoever that a a man who identifies as 'trans' is any less of a threat than any other man.

The posters who want mixed sex can do that I’ll take single sex with the other women who feel the same”

Absolutely your prerogative. It doesn’t bother me, I’ll go where I need to. You don’t feel that way, completely fair enough.

Please don’t let this single issue blind you to the terrible harm this government has/is causing and vote for it though, based on RS’ desperate, false statements. He doesn’t care about your concerns.

I am sure that the vast majority of TW, like all men, are harmless. But with strangers you don't know if they are the 3% of predators or not. Predators don't advertise themselves. Even if they are not predatory, it still doesn't mean they can't use the men's and leave us women to pee in peace!

Nothing is stopping TW using the facilities of their birth sex. It's not like using a wheelchair when they have to use an accessible loo. They don't have to use the ladies'.

It's not a 'single' issue. It affects every single aspect, every single sector of society. Please don't use economics as an excuse to blind you as to how very serious this 'single issue' is.

why would any man want to hurt me though? The fact is though that men DO hurt women for no reason other than they want too and they don’t have signs on them saying which ones are lovely & which ones are violent

Isla Bryson apparently believes they are a woman as does Karen white. Doesn’t mean they didn’t rape and hurt women though does it

What? You're saying it's 'shameful' for me to explain why I don't want to share a loo with men? When others were talking about it?

I should shut the fuck up and not cause problems? I shouldn't talk about it?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/10/2023 14:25

It's not just about them "hurting" me. It's about them violating my privacy and dignity, as well. It can be a form of sexual harassment. Why should women share their female only spaces with males who have shown complete disregard for our feelings and boundaries?

ArabellaScott · 08/10/2023 14:25

I cannot believe you are dismissing my experience as 'shitty'. Fuck this, I'm out.

PS I'm not a Tory voter.

That’s not what happened. Try reading the words that were posted.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/10/2023 14:27

It's actually incredibly shitty and emotionally manipulative for women to try and make other women feel shitty for hoping for a new government and wanting to give them a chance, by posting individual circumstances and events to make then feel guilty for 'not caring' about a horrible event which Is extremely rare in comparison to the everyday suffering of millions.

She's allowed to share her own experience of sexual assault. Vile post.

That poster wasn't talking about government at that point, they were answering why they'd feel uncomfortable sharing an intimate space with a transwoman.

You attacking ArabellaScott for sharing her experience is shameful victim-blaming and I've reported your post.

MankyMinge · 08/10/2023 14:28

@HettyWainty who are these other women who are being manipulated? Surely you don't mean TW? They aren't women. They can use the mens ' or campaign for a third space.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/10/2023 14:29

I will not vote for any party that promotes gender identity ideology. It's as simple as that.

MankyMinge · 08/10/2023 14:30

@HettyWainty TW don 't need a government advocating for their rights to use a ladies' loo. It's not a need they have, it's a want. Nothing is stopping them from using the mens'.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/10/2023 14:30

Exactly @MankyMinge

She means other posters on this thread who don’t think trans women are men and are willing to share their spaces with them.
