A woman is a woman

For those who have been following the Tory conference and general themes of their speeches…

How do you feel about Sunak’s speech?

I know there has been a lot of discussion on here from those who didn’t want to vote for a party that didn’t know the definition of a woman.

Rishi has stated clearly that “a woman is a woman and a man is a man.” While I’d argue that still isn’t a definition, per se, he is appeasing this way of thinking.

So I’m just wondering. Is this enough for you to vote Tory at the next election?

Orwellian at this point. With plenty of transphobic and bigot abuse at women thrown in for good measure

I just have no idea how it is has got to this stage.

I've no doubt people will say that pointing out that trans women are male and pose the same level of risk to women as any other male is transphobic.

But it isn't, it's just speaking the truth.

And as for all this denying the existence of trans people, well if that means that some people won't lie about the reality of the situation, well I won't. I don't think women come second to trans women. Why should we? If trans women feel unsafe in facilities for their own sex then that's something they need to address with males, it's not our issue to fix. Otherwise all we are doing is saying that putting some women at risk of harm is OK. I just don't think it is. A woman was raped by a trans woman in an NHS hospital on a women's ward. I seriously don't see how anyone can know that and still think that we should remove single sex spaces by putting trans women's wishes above women's safety.

Men prioritise men and so do many women.

The laws and institutions prioritise men to make it even harder for women.

No unfortunately they firmly believe that trans women are women and should be in our spaces.

Such a disappointment when I found that out.

No realistic chance of being elected in any seat they stand in anyway.

Until we have electoral reform a vote for minority parties is a wasted vote.

No. A hard no. They believe that males can become women.

None of this nonsense persuades me to change my view. Sunak's been caught out lying yet again over HS2. Why would I believe him on this? If he means it, why has he done nothing about it over the last year?

I don't believe anything Keir Starmer says - I was listening to LBC last year when Starmer said there were 'about 6 people' with him at the beer and curry evening - in fact there were 16 other people there, not 6. Starmer also lied (some months later) when he said his 'hotel wasn't serving food' that evening - the hotel was serving food on the terrace until 9pm. Then he said 'all the restaurants and pubs were shut' - that was a lie - restaurants and pubs were serving food outside, Starmer ate at a restaurant (outside) the evening before, in Hull. Starmer wasn't fined but he clearly told a string of lies to cover his tracks.

Then there's the fact that Keir Starmer thinks 1 in 1000 women has a penis;

RobynRB · 06/10/2023 13:17

Not to be pedantic, but if you still have a penis you clearly aren't a woman, whether you believe you are a women once you've lopped it off is a different argument. Surely.

I see you're at it again. This thread is about what Sunak said and your whataboutery has been discredited already.

This thread is about what Sunak

I thought Keir Starmer wanted to be the next prime minister? Have I got that wrong?

your whataboutery has been discredited already

In what way?

theDudesmummy · 06/10/2023 13:27

I had some hopes for the WEP some time ago. Sadly, unjustified.

Clavinova · 06/10/2023 13:31

Passepartoute
But they don't all pretend that. Starmer has said directly the contrary

I don't think you're allowed to mention Keir Starmer on this thread - but no, Starmer hasn't said that men can't be women.

Clarich007 · 06/10/2023 13:33

Never in a million, billion, trillion years would i ever vote Tory.
Hate them

If you aren't capable of understanding what was posted to you about your unfounded allegations against Starmer I'm afraid I can't enlighten you further.

Have you any further points to make in defence of Sunak's honesty and integrity and decency? Something featuring his parliamentary behaviour and political record would be useful, if you can manage it.

Which of Starmer's lies (listed above) are you disputing?

Verv · 06/10/2023 14:08

I will vote for whichever party is aware that a woman is an adult human female, a lesbian is a same sex attracted female, and a gay man is a same sex attracted male.

Fingers crossed for another party to figure it out before the GE.

Not now - I'm going shopping to Fenwick and John Lewis soon - you can address the unfounded allegations in the meantime.

^this is very true.

I ve seen it in youth and now senior sport.

Some of it is quite mild, like the men get 2 800m races if there are more than 8 men BUT the women are asked to share lanes when the same thing happens.

But these men who organise are often quite high up in English Athletics and then go on to allow trans women to compete in female competitions, they don't care.

Thankfully this has changed now (public pressure not because they changed their minds or now care) but should never have been allowed in the first place.

Same with imho politicians, they ve bowed to pressure but do they now really care?

How convenient. You won't come up with any defence of Sunak unless it involves making allegations about his political opponents. You won't provide evidence of his honesty, decency and integrity because you can't.

This one?
(Durham Police later confirmed there were 17 people in total, including Starmer)

https://order-order.com/2022/05/16/starmer-revises-count-up-from-6-to-15-attendees-at-beergate/

So in one interview he said 6 people travel with him... in the other 15 were in the room... so the 6 staffers plus 9 from the local lab party?

The 2 answers are not lies plus the police examined this and other evidence and deemed no crime was committed... unlike "partygate" and midnight raves with 50 or 60 people in attendance, drugs and booze... all at Bojo's no10...

Over 125 fines issued, some people got more than one fine.

Plus and its the biggie.... KS wasn't making the rules....

Yes very comparable.
