AIBU to bring 'Fat Bear Week' to your attention?

This gave me a little bubble of joy this morning and I want to share it. Here are all the details.

Voting on the fattest bear starts today at this link. I can't wait for the children to get home so we can vote.

What's the prize? My girth is about the size of those fat bears, so I figure if I identify as a bear, I might be in with a chance to win something!

She's my favourite. If you read her bio on the website she proactively goes about intimidates adult males so they are scared of her and leave her cubs alone. BADASS BEAR.

Quite right. Surely they should be fatter than the males at the start of hibernation, don't they give birth and suckle the cubs during it? Sounds like an excellent approach to early motherhood. Eat loads then sleep through it and emerge svelte.

Fat bear week is one of the reasons i love autumn! The female bears have really piled on the pounds this year. I think it's a lady for the the win.

I thought Electra was great but Bucky (164) got my vote for this -

Instead of competing for established fishing spots like most bears at Brooks Falls, 164 invented his own. He stands at the very base of Brooks Falls at the edge of the deepest plunge pool. At this location, he can catch salmon welling up from the pool below, jumping through the air, or falling from above. This is a spot that no other bear—currently or in the recent past—has tried to fish consistently.

So he is definitely 'smarter than the average bear' and what's not to admire about that.

Grazer got my other vote and I think she might go all the way. She's feisty, fiery, very pretty and very, very big.

We have a couple of big guys locally, called The Boss and Split Lip. There are numerous videos online of them fighting/chasing each other.

@WhiskersPete brown bears do not eat people. as far as I know from my in depth Google research, polar bears are the only land mammals who actively hunt and eat humans. I dont blame them.
