To have sent my kid to school this morning

Got the guilt. DD is 4. Just started reception. Was just settling into school routine

Sunday night: vomited x 2
Monday: unwell on sofa. No sick
Tuesday: seemed much better but then a little bit sick again at 6pm after dinner.
Wednesday: absolutely fine, jumping off walls, eating all day.
Thursday (today): ate huge breakfast. Fine. Sent to school

I haven't stuck to the 48 hour rule as that would be 6pm today.

I don’t get the hysteria on here about the 48 hour rule. My school doesn’t stick to it either. They say at every assembly that if a child has to stay off with d&v then they can still come in in the morning to get their registration mark, they’re all about keeping their attendance levels high.

Wait, what? They have ill children come in just to be ticked on the register? And then they go home? And parents go along with that?

Our school is at 24 hrs now.

Schools are being hit with a huge push on attendance post-pandemic because attendance nationally is poor.

Some of my friends are told to send their children in against what the NHS has recommended for various illnesses.

Interestingly the people I know who have experienced this have schools with low attendance overall. That is probably because telling parents who want to do the right thing to only do 24 hours instead of 48 is schools picking low hanging fruit. It's easier to do than deal with the persistent absence issues.
