I've never broken a bone or given birth, but I have had some very painful periods that have made me feel like I'm going to pass out. Also terrible travel sickness / vomiting on a 20 hour trip that left me wishing for death due to how crap I felt.

@boozeclues - same here bending down to pick up DS after a c-section. Agony!

Jericha · 03/10/2023 21:35

C section recovery when I had covid and the associated cough. Yuck

Buttons0522 · 03/10/2023 21:35

Childbirth was a breeze compared to being stitched up afterwards. Ouch. Worse than that though was coccyx injury. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Colonoscopy. Had the sedative offered, plus gas & air; didn't even touch the pain. The endoscopist stopped the procedure and it was repeated under general anaesthetic. Thank god I don't have to go through that again without a GA!!

You’ve got me worried now. I’m supposed to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy on the 20th

AnnaMagnani · 03/10/2023 21:36

A migraine when I had the flu.

48 hours of lying stock still with my eyes shut and a bag of frozen peas on my head, wishing for death.

Gallstones were a doddle in comparison.

Dymaxion · 03/10/2023 21:36

Tooth abscess - shoot me now pain.

Trying to give birth to last child when my cervix couldn't dilate any further than 8cm due to scar tissue and my waters had broken a day before, that few hours before EMCS was agony, as DS tried to push his way through a gap that was never going to be big enough! I thought a home birth would be a good idea, absolutely no pain relief and a baby repeatedly bouncing off a not dilated enough cervix, until I haemorrhaged and was blue lighted to hospital. Atrocious level of pain, shoot me now x 100, but all was well in the end.

ShinyPebble32 · 03/10/2023 21:36

Descending while coming into land on a plane with a sinus infection, absolute agony. It felt like my brain was going to burst out of my nose and eardrums any moment, and I was looking forward to the sweet embrace of death!

1FootInTheRave · 03/10/2023 21:36

Peritonitis.

LunaNorth · 03/10/2023 21:36

Perineal abscess. I was panting like a dog and I wanted to die.

Trapped wind after c-section.

Afterpains when feeding DS2. On top of the trapped wind and general post-section agony. Hideous.

Nerve pain caused by an injured shoulder. It was like my whole shoulder and arm had horrendous toothache. It went on for six weeks.

Panda89 · 03/10/2023 21:36

Broken toe. Omg I could feel the bones crunching it was VILE.
I’ve given birth with only gas and air, would do that again over broken toe any day.

Nodancingshoes · 03/10/2023 21:36

Childbirth. But wisdom tooth pain ranks quite high. Also I have arthritis in my hands and I sometimes have intense pain in my thumbs which takes my breath away.

Borgoff · 03/10/2023 21:37

Placental abruption

genuinely thought I was going to die

Hesma · 03/10/2023 21:37

Torn meniscus… childbirth was easy for me but my longest labour was1.5 hours and shortest 36 mins

Bethany7 · 03/10/2023 21:37

A 'back to back' labour with no pain relief (not for want of trying)
Will NEVER forget that pain ever.
Broken bones, perforated ear drums, wisdom tooth extraction.... A breeze in comparison...

80s · 03/10/2023 21:37

Headaches when I was on the pill. A rotator cuff tear (felt like fire).
C-section was worse than the natural birth for me but not to the point of unrelenting agony.
I think it depends a lot on my mental state; whether I feel unsupported or helpless, or if there's no end in sight.

Changeling78 · 03/10/2023 21:37

Birth and Kidney stone.

MyDogSmellsTerrible · 03/10/2023 21:37

Childbirth made me actually bang my head against the wall in the delivery suite. I actually thought I was going to go mad with the pain.

C section for DC2 was an absolute breeze in comparison. Never even took any painkillers afterwards.

Mercury2702 · 03/10/2023 21:37

I’ve had a baby and the worst I’ve ever experienced was wisdom tooth related! Or the wisdom tooth infection where I couldn’t get a dental appointment. I was ready to sell my soul at that point

Jxtina86 · 03/10/2023 21:37

Iritis - I didn't get it diagnosed for almost a week as thought it was just a bad case of conjunctivitis. I wanted to pull my eye out it was horrendous.

C-section recovery comes a close second!

Maverickess · 03/10/2023 21:37

Gall stones and infected gall bladder, there wasn't anything I could do to relieve it and the oramorph I got in the ambulance made me vomit which intensified the pain even more.
So glad to see the back of that thing!

Followed by dental abscess during covid that didn't respond to two lots of antibiotics, thankfully (strange I know!) My jaw swelled and they agreed to see me rather than shove another prescription through the door at me. The only relief I could get was hanging my head over the side of the bed for some reason, it relieved it for a few minutes at a time!

My horse standing on the top of my foot, then leaning all his weight on it and twisting his hoof as he turned and span. He was 16.2hh, weighed about 600kg and had shoes on. My boot was ripped (hardy leather boots!) And my skin an absolute mess but probably because I was on soft mud nothing was broken, but the bruising was something to behold.

gettingolderbutcooler · 03/10/2023 21:37

Dislocated shoulder.

LittleMy77 · 03/10/2023 21:38

Appendicitis was agonising, closely followed by the worst acid reflux for 3 days after eating lentil soup - I genuinely thought i was having a heart attack!

Wotchaz · 03/10/2023 21:38

Probably my induction with pitocin, when there was no time for an epidural. Then when I tore my ACL (and carried on walking round on it because A&E said “just soft tissue”). In comparison to these, the spontaneous labour and drug-free birth (didn’t get to hospital in time for anything stronger than paracetamol) doesn’t even compare.

SinglePSnowedUnder · 03/10/2023 21:39

Sinuitis, worse than giving birth

StowOnTheWold · 03/10/2023 21:39

Gvhd
