I've never broken a bone or given birth, but I have had some very painful periods that have made me feel like I'm going to pass out. Also terrible travel sickness / vomiting on a 20 hour trip that left me wishing for death due to how crap I felt.

OP posts:

Kidney stones
twisted bowel

GreyhpundGirl · 04/10/2023 19:16

Labour and giving birth. How on earth people choose to go through that more than once, I have no idea.

suspiciousmums · 04/10/2023 19:17

Sciatica- I can’t even put in to words the pain when back/legs just went one day.

unreasonableornothelp · 04/10/2023 19:18

Dental abscess, even worse than a compound ankle fracture.

MadMadaMim · 04/10/2023 19:18

Gall stones - was delerious and passed out then rushed to hospital.

That and diverticulitis

Swebwrly broke my arm when I was younger and that was nothing in comparison and I've had emergency c section - again, doesn't come close to gall stones. Z

I told myself it might not hurt the second time...

I was wrong. 🫠

DragonflyLady · 04/10/2023 19:19

I’ve already said my frozen shoulder and someone else said about the zingers, and yes they were excruciating.

But also, my first miscarriage was horrendously painful and I thought I was going to die.

And the other one was when I had tubes shoved up my nose and down my throat when I was having an op. There were three nurses with me, they were amazing.

ShergarAgain · 04/10/2023 19:19

Biliary colic from gallstones. Felt it like a tight agonising belt around my chest and thought I was going to die of a heart attack. Pain was astonishing.

Disturbia81 · 04/10/2023 19:20

I've had c sections and abdominal partial hysterectomy.. My worst pain has been toothache and gallstones.

Innuk · 04/10/2023 19:21

I second that, worst pain ever!!!!

Lemonandginger1 · 04/10/2023 19:21

Having an impacted wisdom tooth!

wolfmom · 04/10/2023 19:22

Pancreatitis, I thought my initial gallstone attack was bad but that floored me and I have chronic pain (also had crippling periods and gave birth, they were an absolute joy compared to pancreatitis )

SJP306 · 04/10/2023 19:23

Appendicitis
Cut my thumb and snapped my tendon
Mastitis
Child birth

Bugbabe1970 · 04/10/2023 19:25

Forceps delivery
traumatised me so much I did go into hospital for my next 2 deliveries

Fuckidrankitall · 04/10/2023 19:25

Stillbirth, 3 d&C's, second term and two first trimester. 7 gallstone attacks. Cluster migraines, dry socket infection after 4 wisdom teeth taken out at the dentist. I have led a a charmed life 😕

Toomuchtrouble4me · 04/10/2023 19:26

Had 4 C-sections, only first one was badly managed as it was a weekend baby, others fine. Worst pain without a doubt was stomach pain that came in waves like a contraction every 50 seconds. It was an obstructed bowel, the treatment was pretty uncomfortable too with a tube up my nose and into my stomach for 2 days. But that pain! Omg!
gallstone pain a fairly close second.

ScotsBluebell · 04/10/2023 19:26

A dental operation (in the hospital) that they had said would give me 'minor discomfort'. DH said I looked as though I'd been assaulted and felt it too. My own dentist was appalled. Later, I told the consultant it had been worse than labour (and that had been pretty hellish and very long) and when he just laughed, I said 'no, really, I mean it.'

Clementinesforsummer · 04/10/2023 19:27

Ruptured ectopic pregnancy
root tooth infection (needed a root canal)
recovery after a cervical suture.

littleorchard45 · 04/10/2023 19:28

Gas pains after a hysterectomy- worst part of the whole thing.

Mumsgirls · 04/10/2023 19:29

major spinal surgery

freespirit333 · 03/10/2023 21:02

Labour and childbirth without a doubt.

Ditto this.

No pain has come close for me.

agent765 · 04/10/2023 19:32

Dental abscess
Kidney and bladder infection
Nerve pain due to Transverse Myelitis
IBS
Period pain that made me throw up
Miscarriage
Being told to walk on a 'twisted' ankle that was actually broken. For a fortnight. I also broke my arm and that was missed, too.
Childbirth, oddly, wasn't nearly as painful as any of my miscarriages.

HowAmYa · 04/10/2023 19:32

During labour, contractions were bad but the pain of 2 people trying their utmost hardest to break my waters with this fucking horrible implement was by far THE VILEST thing I have ever ever experienced. They gave up in the end. I wanted to die.

Outside of that, I'd say sinusitis. No amount of painkiller touches that pain. Literally only actual sinus meds help. It's the pain in your cheekboon directly under your eyes that feels like your skull is in a vice.

Worst of all I think was earache. Led to my jaw. Horrible horrible pain. I've never had toothache but as my earache reached my jaw I understood why they say toothache can make someone suicidal its that bad. I couldn't even think let alone try to open my eyes from it.

Of the above three I'd have sinusitis and I'd brave being jabbed with the water breaking implement over the debilitating earache any time.

Justontherightsideofnormal · 04/10/2023 19:34

A local anaesthetic injection in my nose prior to surgery. This was the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced.

anon666 · 04/10/2023 19:38

Period pain for me. I have also passed out / vomited with the pain of periods. Then also and similar - during labour before the epidural.

The electric jolts I got after a severed fingertip weren't fun either.
