To ask how I can quickly lose 8 stone?

Weightlosswonders · 02/10/2023 19:27

I need to lose 8 stone as fast as possible.

In an ideal world I would do it more slowly and in the healthiest possible way but due to current circumstances, I need to lose it as quickly as possible.

Im looking into a possible meal replacement diet but that’s looking rather pricey! (Around £12 a day which is too much for one person!)

All suggestions welcome. (my interim target is 4 stone by Christmas) and I’d welcome any advice from anyone who’s down similar.

I've lost five stone plus since last summer. 1200 calories a day, a cheat once a week might be an individual size chocolate bar not a Domino's or an all you can eat Chinese. Gym 3-4 times a week mainly classes so I can't cut it short, walk everywhere, drink loads of water.

Vallmo47 · 02/10/2023 19:42

I’m sorry OP but I really don’t think this is realistic. I’ve been in similar shoes and had over 4 stone to lose but it has taken me a couple of years to do it and I really, really tried my best. Just focus on healthy… healthy living, healthy eating with the rare treat. Anything else isn’t sustainable and you are more likely to give up. No matter how desperate you feel tonight, give yourself a realistic goal or it won’t happen at all. I understand the feeling well though so just take it bit by bit and try not to hate on yourself too much - I’ve lost 4 stone, it is possible….but please don’t make it even harder for yourself by having unrealistic expectations.

50lessfat · 02/10/2023 19:43

How tall are you and how much do you weigh? If you are 25 stone and want to drop to 17 this will be different than if you are 19 and want to drop to 11 and different again if you are 17 and want to drop to 9.

UndercoverCop · 02/10/2023 19:43

I found good exercise to start with were aquafit , deep aqua and aqua pilates classes as the water supports your joints, but you get out what you put it. Some people just bob around and have a chat, that's not going to do anything.

If you're getting married and your fiancé's stick insect ex will be there then yes YABU. I hope you're doing it for health reasons x

Here are some tricks that have worked for me:

  1. Prior to every meal, drink a big glass of water
  2. Cut out snacks
  3. Intermittent fasting (read up on this and be sure you stay healthy)
  4. Don't eat after 7 pm

I'm American and have no idea how much a "stone" is 😉😋but I wish you good luck! Stay healthy and be kind to yourself.

AmiablePedant · 02/10/2023 19:48

14 pounds in a stone!

Disturbia81 · 02/10/2023 19:49

Meal replacement, I lost 9 stone in 9 months

Disturbia81 · 02/10/2023 19:49

And I've kept it off by switching to healthy eating.

Lauryn95 · 02/10/2023 19:50

It does depend massively on your starting weight but I was on a calorie deficit of 800+ calories a day and working out 4 times a week and walking 5 miles a day (14.5 stone starting) and lost 4.5 stone in 6 months but that was very unhealthy to do so I think what you're saying you want is very unrealistic, however my mum was 18 stone and lost like a stone a month just by eating less carbs etc through slimming world and not doing anything drastic so I think the starting weight really has an effect on how quick you can lose it

Meal replacement, I lost 9 stone in 9 months

which plan did you go with? I’m looking into this right now.

Even on a VLCD meal replacement diet you'd be pushed to lose 4 stones by Christmas. You need to set a realistic target

Weightlosswonders · 02/10/2023 19:51

For those asking, my starting weight is 22 stone.

Exante shakes and exercise.

PrincessPeaches123 · 02/10/2023 19:53

Lots and lots of brisk walking. Doing a lower level activity for longer will burn more calories.

Beachwalker66 · 02/10/2023 19:56

Why are you set on losing eight stone so quickly and four by Christmas?

You presumably didn’t put the weight on that quickly. If you need the energy to hold down a job and a normal life, four stone in three months will be tough. If I were attempting that, I wouldn’t go over 800 calories a day.

HoneyBadgerMom · 02/10/2023 19:56

AmiablePedant · 02/10/2023 19:48

14 pounds in a stone!

Then I would say that 4 stone by Christmas is unrealistic and kinda unhealthy. I would expect maybe 2 stone by Christmas if she stays super strict. Weight loss is slllloooowwww, and when you get old it's SLLLOOOOOWEERRRRRRRR. What I wouldn't give for magical powers to shape shift into Kate Beckinsale.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 02/10/2023 19:57

Orlistat

MsJuniper · 02/10/2023 20:00

You can lose a stone per month on meal replacements, possibly more due to your starting weight, but you will have to stick to it rigidly - no days off for Christmas or birthdays. Plenty of water.

Depending on your resilience it will last a couple of years.

StrawberryWater · 02/10/2023 20:02

Portion control, exercise and cutting out unhealthy snacks. It’s what’s working for me.

Pancakepipsqueak · 02/10/2023 20:02

I’ve started the ketogenic diet (low low carb under 20g a day, high fat). Lost 20lb in 5 weeks (starting weight 16 stone).
first 3 days were rough but now I’m barely hungry. Eat around 1500 calories a day. Lots of bacon, lots of eggs, steak, some veg (avocado, leafy greens, some broccoli) and some strawberries, dark chocolate and double cream.

bellac11 · 02/10/2023 20:02

If you weigh 22 stone, then you could lose 4 by christmas, but it will be hard work, you'll need to ensure your nutrition and fluids are in place.

Prior to bariatric surgery most people do a liver reduction diet, there are some of the diets online, it aims to get rid of a lot of water and glucose and some fat quite quickly, a lot of people find they lose huge amounts.

I didnt!!! I lost 4lbs over 3 weeks but then I had already lost nearly 3 stone on my own by that point very quickly.

therealcookiemonster · 02/10/2023 20:02

so that's 25 kg... is it possible to lose that? sure. is it safe? probably not. Will you end up with loose skin? most likely. might you end up with serious micronutrient deficiency) quite likely.

I strongly reccommend you speak to your GP before attempting this.

StrawberryWater · 02/10/2023 20:03

Oh and by exercise I mean activities that are appropriate for my weight. So at the moment that’s walking and lifting small weights at home (if you can’t get hold of weights fill two empty water bottles with sand, works just as well).
